We came here to stay by train. Although the motel is not very new, it has everything. There are supermarkets and daily necessities stores at the foot of the mountain. It takes about ten minutes to walk there. When the sidewalk is about to disappear, there is a trail connecting it in a hidden place, and you can walk to the parking lot of the grocery store. The hotel can pick you up at the train station, which is actually very suitable for people like us who have big luggage from overseas and don’t have a car. recommend

The sanitation and service are pretty good, but the facilities are a bit lacking, some switches are broken, and there is a parking lot.

Don't stay in this hotel, everyone. When I booked, I filled in two adults, and they didn't even allow children to stay. There is a couple, the man kept saying that he would call the police because we had two more children, and the woman kept scolding fxxk . We were not allowed to check in after 8 o’clock in the evening. After 8 o’clock, most hotels don’t have a front desk. Later, we called the police, but they didn’t stand by them when they came. The police cleared the way and took us to another coleraine, and the police passed again. Find out the front desk of that house through various channels and let us check in. The hotel also refused to refund, because I am a black diamond, Ctrip refunded the money to me. Everyone passing by Greymouth must not choose this hotel.

Nice, clean and spacious rooms close to town. Quiet and convenient - fantastic shower! Very friendly owners. Had a great overnight stay after coming across from Christchurch on the TranzAlpine train. Very short walk from town centre and the amazing Māwhera Pā experience.

Lovely warm and clean place to stay while in Greymouth with friendly staff. I definitely recommend spending your nights here. There is ample parking as well as being a short stroll to town. There are a few nice touches including pick up from the train station and chocolate squares in the fridge. Thanks for making my first trip to Greymouth relaxing.

Stayed here for one night - Included a free pick up from the train station - It’s only 5 mins or so away from the hotel, but as it was pouring with rain, this was greatly appreciated Ed hated! Very friendly and helpful staff. Good quality room, we had a double and a twin - big open windows and doors to let in a lot of light. Bathroom was good quality and the shower was hot.

This hotel presents as nothing special, but we had a lovely and comfortable stay. The rooms, bathroom and decor are quite dated, but are immaculately presented. The location is slightly out of the CBD and whilst you can see a supermarket and variety store across the road, there is no (obvious) direct access, so you need a car to get about. The location is quiet, but there is a bit of noise from neighbouring rooms, especially when the shower is running. When we turned off the light, there was a lot of light entering the room and we expected a disturbed night, but we were delighted that sometime around midnight they dimmed considerably so our sleep was quite good. I wish more motels would dim their external lighting as the night draws on. The hosts were attentive and welcoming and we enjoyed some nice interaction with them. This is a motel that's far from perfect, but where the positives far outweigh the negative. We would definitely recommend it and stay there again.

We were met by Pauline at the railway station who drove us to the motel which was a stones throw away. We were in an upstairs room with an elevated view - the owners were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The unit was spotless with excellent shower pressure.

The host Abby was welcoming and happy to greet us. The room spotless and the little extras delightful. Close to train station and town centre. Comfy and warm, great view. One of the best. Highly recommended

Comfortable quiet room. ..yep…double glazing. The owners really had gone to a lot of trouble to make the guests comfortable…nice soap and shampoo…large rooms with beautiful bathrooms. Free powder for washing machine. Very close to information centre, countdown, subway, and the ware house were everyone gets a bargain and I managed to pick up a decent sun hat and some sun cream for the Paparoa track
Response from Property: Hi Peter, Happy New Year and thanks so much for your great review. Thanks also for choosing to stay with us at the Sundowner Motel on your recent visit to Greymouth. We hope your tramp on the Paparoa track went well. All the best for 2023, .Cheers Murray and Wendy.
