Grindelwald Youth Hostel Reviews

Grindelwald Youth Hostel offers a clean, comfortable stay with amazing mountain views and very friendly staff. The shower had steady hot water, and the hostel is easy to reach by taking bus No. 122 from the main station. The room did not have a hairdryer, but one could be borrowed for a 10 EUR cash deposit, which was refunded at check-out. Although the hostel is a bit uphill and not the easiest to reach, the peaceful atmosphere and good value make it worthwhile.

Good and nice

Check-in and check-out times are quite limited, I think from 4 PM to 10 AM. It's a hostel, and the room was pretty spacious with heating. It's located on a hill, so you have to take the bus up, otherwise, walking would be exhausting. The bus service ends at 6 PM. Breakfast was good, I'd even say quite generous.

The room was beautiful and cozy, with lovely decor, and we could see the Eiger mountain right from our window. For Switzerland, this price offers excellent value for money. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of choices. The only thing to note is that the hotel is located on the mountaintop. It's best to take public transport up and down. If you miss the last bus at 6 PM, make sure to select the driving route on Google Maps to go up the mountain, as it's much better than walking. I wouldn't recommend walking if you're not in good physical shape.

I had a wonderful stay at this hostel! The breakfast was absolutely delicious – freshly baked bread, local cheeses, eggs, and fruits. It was the perfect way to start the day.

Located quite far uphill and far from train station, you will rely on bus 122 to reach / leave the hostel, which only operates until around 6pm. The view from the hostel is not bad, with quite a large outdoor area. The building itself is an old wooden structure and it is very easy to hear the noise from other rooms. Only two toilets / shower rooms per gender per floor but so far it is ok. Just be reminded that there is no individual electric socket for each bed and the lamp above the bed does not seem to work.

Received a good welcome from the staff. The facilities are good when you stay at main building. The breakfast was better than nothing. The one impression was the view while having the breakfast.

Actually location a bit fat from Train Station but the view is super nice! And I saman love the design if that hostel!

It was really far and quite a detour, good thing we were driving. I saw the last bus packed with people at night, looked like a tough commute. The double room I booked was like a college dorm, a unique experience for sure. The scenery was nice, but I don't remember much of it because there were so many other guests, which was distracting.

The hotel was clean and worth it. The hotel is directly opposite of nice view!

The environment was excellent and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was superb, and the service was wonderful. Truly fantastic overall!

You absolutely must take the bus. Unless you're in great physical shape and traveling light, you'll be absolutely miserable, especially if you encounter extreme weather. If the weather is nice, that's a different story; a leisurely walk with stops might actually be quite pleasant.
