Koh Phangan Hotels with Gym

Thankful that this property was available for us to book during the busy April 2023 Full Moon Party season. For a beachfront property with a swimming pool, I find their rates are super cheap. We arrived at noon time and we were allowed to check in immediately. Our room was spacious and came with a veranda. The place could be cleaner but it never got a point that we felt it was bothersome. Make sure your windows are locked! On our third night, we discovered our windows were unlocked from the get go but luckily all our belongings were intact. The staff were friendly and helpful. The resort is within walking distance to the Full Moon Party and Haad Rin Pier so that's definitely a huge plus. If you're planning to party and just need a decent and affordable place to crash, then this is it.

The Vannee is a 3.5 star hotel but we can’t do half stars here. The hotel lacks details on most ends but overall a decent place to stay. The breakfast was not good for the 2 days of our stay. The true standout aspect of this hotel is the massive pool that expands the length of the grounds. There is a swimup pool bar.

The hotel is 4 stars. And this is clearly visible in everything. The service, room cleaning are all excellent. The staff here is very friendly, fulfills all requests. The location is near the hotel. This is where it wins. It is located on a beautiful beach next to the Anantara hotel. Close, within walking distance all infrastructure: shops, restaurants, cafes, laundries, bike and car rental, exchange offices, massages, etc. From Thong Sala Pier it takes 30 minutes, a taxi costs approximately 1000-1500 baht, depending on the number of people. There are downsides to the hotel: 1. The biggest downside is the breakfast. It’s disgusting. Everything is tasteless, the pastries are old, there are no fresh juices, it’s impossible to drink coffee from the machine. 2. The room is very small, the bathroom always smells damp and musty. Upon request They install an aromatic liquid, but it lasts literally for 2 hours. 3. The quality of linen and pillows leaves much to be desired. Results: The hotel is good, a solid four. If you want to live on the shore of a beautiful beach, then choose it.

This is a great hotel. Starting from the location, ending with small details in the room - mosquito spray in a perfume bottle. The staff is very polite and caring. You feel in absolute comfort and safety. The hotel area is very beautiful, surrounded by greenery. Breakfasts are great. There is everything. Buffet format + ordering from the menu. Any kind of scrambled eggs, porridge, juices, avocado toast, fruit, etc. You must leave a deposit of 1000 baht at the hotel; it will be returned upon check-out. On the downside, one night there was a lot of noise from the company in the neighboring villa. With music, dancing, etc. I think the hotel should take action and prevent this from happening. Still, the non-hotel format does not imply noisy parties.

Overall the hotel was nice but in several point not what we expected: We booked a „villa with sea view“. There was no sea view at the villa that was assigned to us. You couldn’t see the sea neither from within the villa nor from the pool nor from the sun beds nor from the outside bath tub. The only way to see a glimpse of the sea was to stand up on a certain spot on the terrace. That’s not what we expected from a room advertised as „with sea view“ and the (trip.com) booking page also suggested otherwise. When we complained, we got assigned another villa where we could see the sea partly. Thank you for that. However, the manager told us that the photos from the booking page were in fact another villa. But it's not my responsibility to make sure that the photos and pictures provided on booking pages are correct. The hotel has to take care of that! This holds also true for the next issue: The gym was closed due to renovation. In the booking process, they advertised a huge fitness center with lots of machines. Now it’s shut down and we did not get any information about this. The „mini gym“, which does not even have at least one multi exercise machine, is nothing but a bad joke and no replacement at all for a proper gym! Again the staff told us they would inform about this on their website. When I checked that, I still found the photos of the large gym on their own website. It was just called ”mini gym”. But how am I supposed to know what they mean by that and that the provided photos are no longer correct??

The hotel is located a little far from civilization. You need to be prepared for this. The nearest 7 eleven is a 20 minute walk. This was not a problem for us. We stayed for 2 days and spent them entirely at the hotel. I didn't want to go out anywhere. At first glance, everything seems a little outdated, but the area has such a cool, relaxing atmosphere that after 5 minutes you forget about it. We lived in a wonderful Villa with a pool and sunset views right from the balcony. Breakfast and dinner were included. The food was divine. The staff is very attentive. Everyone knows what villa you live in, what kind of coffee you like, etc. It was very surprising. The hotel has a beautiful beach - although in the afternoon, because... in the first half, due to the tide, the beach goes under water. But in the afternoon it opens and it’s very cool to walk there. The places are very picturesque.

We stayed beginning of August in a Garden room with terrace. Apart from the Full Moon Party days, it is a very friendly and relaxed hotel with a touch of simple class. Chilled out beach setting with sunbeds, chairs and beanbags. Not too far from Haad Rin but also far enough... Rooms are a good size, clean, bright, cool and with a good selection of bathroom items, fresh water and a stocked minibar (not too expensive). The restaurant is good with a lot of choice and the best breakfast we've had in Thailand so far. We had a BBQ night and a film night while we were there - nice bonuses.

Just the right place for our quick stay to attend the full moon party. It’s right on the beach. The staff is friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Sand & Tan (Restaurant) Beautiful space, delicious food and warm staff. The view of the beach is definitely a selling point and the seating options make it a great place for whatever time of the day you’re looking to visit.

Really nice hotel, we had 3 Superior rooms that overlooked the larger pool and with a view of the bay. They are very nicely styled and comfortable, with good beds and pillows, and aircon. They were very clean and with a nice big balcony. I think that standard rooms are perhaps in an older part of the hotel and overlook another pool, and are a little far from the main facilities. 1 issue with these room styles is the glass half height door on the toilet - meaning a distinct lack of privacy. The buffet breakfast was generally good, but go early to beat the rush, on one of our days we were late to breakfast and it was very busy with some things running out. Service in the rstaurant in the evening was hit and miss, but we found this was the case all over ths island. On one occasion we waited 1h20 minutes between ordering and receiving the last dish ordered, and 40 minutes between the first and last. Yet the restaurant was very quiet. Food quality was good and prices were correct. The pool was nice, very big and clean and the beach nearby is beautiful. There aren't enough sun loungers though, but if you go to the older pool then there is always space. Some reviews on hotel websites say that it is a little isolated. Not sure I'd totally agree, it is in a quieter area but there are plenty of restaurants and shops around within walking difference. The quietness of the area more than compensates for the isolation. You can easily rent a scooter for 200 baht a day or a car. However taking the hotel transport or other taxis is expensive in comparison, and also charged per person not per vehicle. TIP: snorkelling off the beach is great, but to get to the snorkelling area near the hotel is difficult, it's rocky and there are sharp rocks that cut and graze. The secret that we were told is to look on Google maps on satellite view. You can see a clear route through the rocks/reef at one point about 200 metres or so up the beach away from the resort. However shoes are still necessary. After that, the snorkelling was excellent in the morning when the sea was calm. Also go to the beach at sunset, it was lovely. Best restaurant we found was Wan Yam Kam just opposite the hotel entrance (it might have another name now - but that's the name on google maps). Service in other restaurants was hit and miss as described above. Expect to pay around 120-140 baht for a simple Thai dish, around 160-200 for non Thai, around 140-160 for a cocktail, 25 to 30 baht for a soda and 60-70 for a beer. We visited the waterfalls near the hotel - bizarre place and wrong season as no water! Our chidren did a PADI diving course with SailRock Divers school nearby, can recommend. Very good communication and teaching. My issue with Agoda (a rookie mistake as I usually use ***********) is that they are not transparent with pricing and payment. The room is clean and nicely decorated in a nature theme, especially the bathroom with the stone floor and walls. The beach area of the hotel is a little bit small compared to the neighboring hotels but still good. But what convinced me most of all is the service. The hotel staff is super nice and very helpful with everything you need. The hotel area is pretty big so there is a cart service that can pick you up at your hotel room and drive you out to the entrance (or beach, pool, …). Very convenient because the street with all the restaurants is right outside the entrance (and a 7-eleven right across the entrance). So all in all a very pleasant experience and i would definitely stay there again.
