The hotel is one kilometer away from the bus terminal, but there are small stops near the hotel to various ski resorts, which is very convenient.
I booked a total of 5 nights, including meals. The 5 breakfasts are basically Japanese, very hearty and satisfying!
It is a traditional Japanese-style bed and breakfast. The room is on tatami mats and you make your own bed. In some years, the furniture is not new, and you can hear it in the walking room in the corridor, but it is very clean! The quality of the guests is also very good, there is no loud noise, which is much better than the Europeans and Americans who later lived in the hotel!
The boss is an old Japanese couple. They don’t talk much and may not always smile like other Japanese people, but in fact they love to help. After dinner every morning, they ask you where you plan to go today, and then pull you there. His map wall helps you plan your itinerary, and the hotel also has a lot of coupons or low-cost ski tickets for ski resort cooperation. Save a lot of expenses. After checking out, you need to change to another hotel. After the boss asks the address, he will send it to the next one, but there are still not many words 😁, thank you for your rigorous and lovely Japanese grandpa
Very cost-effective, recommended!

This hotel is beyond my imagination. OMG ! The place was so amazing I chose Chalet with my family member 8 persons. They really in love with the place and all speak the same that we will definitely come back again ! The owner has a service to bring you to the supermarket at 4 pm everyday. There are not many houses here so it is the best option for anyone who looking for the cozy places and can also enjoy the wonderful snowy view. Meteor Garden is located conveniently 5-7min drive from main Hakuba Village. One thing to note is that the main cafe in the stay is not open so need to find other dining alternatives. Rooms and amenities are clean and well maintained, the one issue is that it’s not well marked on Google map as it keeps pointing to the restaurant which was not opened and gave us a false alarm. Wifi is not the fastest and does not handle multiple devices that well especially when you are trying to work. There was some confusion when booked via Trip as the contact information was somehow truncated so hotel was unable to contact me without going through Trip thus messages were delayed. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and everyone had a great time…

Great boutique hotel right beside Happo Bus Terminal. Newly renovated/built with beautiful decor & rooms. There was a sakura tree just outside our window & alps view out another window.
Lawsons & a public bath just across the road + shuttle bus service to both Goryo & Happo resorts.
It was pretty empty as it was Spring but the views in the area was still breathtaking. Highly recommended for Golden Week travels!

The hotel is small and the facilities are good. There is a twin bed. Hot spring. Open-air. The location is less than ten minutes from the station. There are no convenience stores and restaurants nearby. If you check in, please order early.
The hotel proprietress is very good. Remind us that there will be enough teams to stay today. It is best to avoid the hot springs during busy hours. We forgot something and emailed them to send them back. They all promised to help.

Kkamingchan0822The location is close to the ski resort.
The hotel staff is very nice and drive us to the ski resort in the morning and night.
The breakfast is also very delicious and there are different dishes every day.
YYINGQUNThis is a youth hostel. I booked a separate double bed with a bathroom. It's the off-season now. The price is expensive compared to hotels in Karuizawa. It can be said that there is no comparison. First of all, the location is not good. It takes more than 25 minutes to walk from the station and 20 minutes to the bus terminal. It's quite far to walk to play. It's like hiking.
Because it is a youth hostel, you can cook by yourself, and it has all the seasonings, tea, and coffee. It is very clean and the surroundings are very quiet. When we stayed there, we saw one or two other single backpackers and a foreign manager who often stayed in the hostel.
I don't understand why accommodation in Hakuba Village is so expensive during the off-season😂😂
GGuest UserThe location is very good, a few tens of meters away is a free bus stop, you can go to various ski resorts, the boss is very enthusiastic, can provide the village station shuttle and a lot of help you need, we stayed for three nights, arranged a two-story suite, The toilet kitchen living room is independent, the tatami is upstairs, very warm and warm, next time you choose to go here
GGuest UserThis trip to White Horse stayed in three hotels, run by Japanese, and European and American. This home is the most satisfying.
First of all, the hotel chosen by the Japanese in Hakuba must be better than the Europeans. No matter the cleanliness of the hotel or the enthusiasm of the boss.
This old Japanese couple has been running a homestay for over 30 years.
At first glance, the boss has accumulated many years. The homestay occupies two single-family villas, and the boss owns a bus! The two of us sat on the exclusive bus to enjoy the pick-up and drop-off service. My chin was frightened. I never came to Baima to see the hotel's own bus.
The location is great. Five minutes walk from base camp, one of Hakuba's core bus stops. If you go to Wuxi 47, it will be more convenient.
Besides the room. It is very large and has its own separate toilet (including bathroom), which is not available in many Japanese-style hotels. The only shortcoming of the room was the two of us, but there were only two single beds and no large bed. A new family room was given to us when I checked in. It was also three single beds, so maybe there is no double room?
The room we booked did not include meals. The breakfast was 600 yen per person. We thought it was not expensive and we tried it. Em, there was only one slice of toast and unlimited coffee milk cereal, which was too monotonous and not worth trying. It is better to go out a few hundred meters to buy breakfast near base camp.
Finally the owner is very enthusiastic (this is the advantage of all Japanese homestays). There are local apples for sale at the front desk. The price of 100 is a conscience. I stayed for 3 nights and ate 5 apples. It was very sweet.
MMidlifeMilesWonderful Stay at Garden Pension Obogurgl
We had an excellent experience at Garden Pension Obogurgl. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the Hakuba Goryu lifts, which made getting on the mountain super easy every day. The pension itself is cozy, clean, and peaceful, with a lovely garden that adds to the charm.
Our room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for ski gear, and the communal areas had a relaxed, homely vibe. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with local tips and transport advice.
We especially enjoyed being able to walk everywhere—whether it was to the nearby convenience stores, local restaurants, or just strolling among the beautiful pine trees. The large cherry blossom tree out the front added a special touch to the peaceful surroundings. If you're after a quiet, scenic, and welcoming place to stay in Hakuba Goryu, Garden Pension Obogurgl is a fantastic choice.
RRgkobashiLet me start with the good parts:
- The location is convenient, with lots of restaurants, cafes, and rental shops nearby. They also work with Hakuba Lion Adventure, so we got some great discounts for rentals.
- The room was very clean and well-equipped, they also have a dry room for snow gears.
- Breakfast was freshly made every morning, with a nice variety and really delicious food.
However, our experience was tainted by communication issues with the owner. Upon arrival, he realized we had come by car and immediately scolded us for not informing him in advance. He claimed to have messaged us about it, but we later discovered he was talking about *********** while we had booked via Trip.com. Since no parking was reserved for us, we had to use a nearby rental space for 1,000 yen per night. We accepted this, understanding that parking is limited during snow season.
Until the third night, our car got stuck in the snow, so we went to ask for help. Instead of assisting us, the owner started blaming us again, saying he had already sent us a message telling us not to drive because of the heavy snow. But we were very confused because we double checked all our booking platform messages and emails there was NO such message at all. So before we checked out, we brought this up again and the owner just said, “Well, that’s not my fault, and I don't recommend booking platforms such as Agoda, Trip.com or *******”.
This place is quite a disappointment. The location itself is great, and the breakfasts were amazing, but the owner’s attitude completely ruined the experience.
To make things even more frustrating, the owners speak Mandarin (as does one of us) and a bit of English, yet the owner insisted on speaking Japanese, fully aware that we didn’t understand it. It almost seemed like he was pretending to be Japanese.
If you’re expecting authentic Japanese hospitality, this is not the place. I genuinely liked the place and even considered staying for a week to work remotely, but the owner’s behavior made that impossible.
Who wants to be scolded multiple times during a vacation?
AAnonymous sonI made a reservation to stay on the first day of my arrival at the airport, but I couldn't make it in time because the bus to Hakuba had already left. I tried to contact the hotel but couldn't reach the staff. The staff at Trip.com contacted me and said that they couldn't contact the hotel either, so I had to cancel the hotel without getting a refund.
