Harbour Plaza Metropolis

Nice view on Victoria Harbour. But the Hotel is quite old and lacks a renovation. Overall not bad for the price, the staff is friendly and they offer free hourly shuttle buses in the city centre.

Have stayed here a few times. Still don't like the fact that they oblige you to buy bottled water instead of providing water dispensers or filtered water. This service can be provided at a nominal cost with dispensers in the lobby or better on each floor if providing in each room seems too expensive. Another strange anomaly from this latest C.trip booking - when I checked-in the hotel informed that the advance payment made by me to C.trip for the room was only for the room and did not include taxes. They made me pay taxes separately at the time of check-in. Plus, as a Club member of the hotel I was expecting the usual late check-out but they said late check-out for Club HP members is applicable only for direct hotel bookings. For the same booking via C.trip the late check-out cost me an extra HKD 300. I was getting the same price from hotel website and C.trip but it seems opting for C.trip eventually turned out much more expensive for me. Probably my fault as I did not read the fine print carefully that unlike my previous booking for the same hotel, this time the C.trip did not include taxes. Sometimes they give you a price with taxes and sometimes without taxes included. A bit sneaky I must say but my bad from having missed reading it carefully. BTW the view from the room was spectacular - see attached pic. I guess I got lucky with a nice room upgrade at check-in - thanks to the check-in staff. I can't thank her by name as their name badge just said "trainee". :-)

Very terrible room, small rooms. We later upgraded to the one bedroom suite which is rather big with a kitchen, but the kitchen serve for no purpose. They have stove installed which is unusable, everything in the kitchen were full of dust. No kitchen utensils were provided. Also, such a big room with an utterly small bathroom. Definitely does not match the price. Be aware that they will come for room cleaning even without being called or asked for. The room was also noisy enough that you can clearly hear what other guests were talking when they pass by the room. Queuing time for check in was utterly long and there was no help provided with heavy luggage.
