The hotel positions itself as a 4-star establishment, but it falls short of that mark. Here's a breakdown of my experience:
Location: The location is excellent, if you don't mind a steep uphill walk. However, the entire island is built on different levels, which isn't a negative but rather a positive – a daily workout! There's a bus stop right by the hotel, making it easy to reach the metro instead of walking up and down, straining your leg muscles. Next door is a botanical and zoological garden where you can take a stroll. By the way, entry is free. A 10-minute walk down the hill leads to the cable car ”tram” stop for a trip to Victoria Peak.
Check-in: Check-in was fast, but a USD 300 deposit is required, which isn't mentioned on either the trip.com website or the hotel's website. If you need an adapter for your electronic devices, ask for one right away – the receptionist won't offer it.
Room: The room is relatively clean, though I did find some hair in the kitchen and on the bedding. For Hong Kong, the room is spacious, but there's nowhere to store a suitcase. You can set the temperature on the air conditioner, but it doesn't work. It only blows cold air, making the room humid.
Kitchen: The kitchen is minimally equipped, but it's sufficient. However, upon check-in, they warn you that the stove can only be used for reheating food, not cooking, as the fire alarm system is very sensitive and might activate the siren due to hot steam. You must turn on the exhaust fan to full power and the air conditioner to avoid triggering the alarm. Why bother having a kitchen at all?
Bathroom: The same situation as with the kitchen – you need to close the door and turn on the air conditioner at full power while showering to avoid the fire alarm being triggered by steam from the bathroom. The shower hose started leaking on the second day of my stay. It was replaced with a new one, which also leaked. When the technician replaced the hose, did he check if the equipment was working properly? I doubt it.
Breakfast: Breakfast is only served from a menu, which is quite limited. It's delicious, but not diverse. Is this the service you'd expect from a 4-star hotel? The breakfast organization is chaotic – staff running around and clanging dishes. Two slow coffee machines and one toaster keep guests waiting in line. By the way, there are plastic mugs for tea and coffee. The only fruit options are two types of apples – red and green.
Service: The service is polite, but I'd say it's ”on demand.” You need to ask for shampoo, shower gel, and dishwashing liquid to be refilled. The housekeeping, for some reason, doesn't notice the need to replenish hygiene products in the bathroom and kitchen.
Environmentalism: As in all of Hong Kong, they no longer provide water in plastic bottles. That's good, but come up with an alternative so guests don't have to go to the store for water. In my opinion, this environmental concern is simply an opportunity to reduce service costs while maintaining high accommodation prices. Speaking of breakfast again, the jam and butter are provided in small plastic containers, just like on airplanes. Is this really about caring for the environment?
Conclusion: Overall, it's a good choice if you're not bothered by the minor service inconsistencies and if you don't have high expectations for a 4-star hotel. If you're visiting Hong Kong, I'd recommend Two MacDonell Road.

The hotel was nice and clean and has a futuristic, minimalist design. My room had a wonderful view of Hong Kong. The window is huge. So the view was even better.
Location-wise - it's very close to Central. Walking distance.

Nina Island South feels like home!
I have stayed in Nina hotel group for some years now and am especially fond of the Nina Island South!
Facilities are unquestionably great but what makes everything different was the super helpful and friendly staff!
During this stay as I entered the room, I found the door handle was loose and that the toiletries were replaced with a new brand of new scent.
Needless to say the door handle was a bit of security concern, but it’s funny coz I didn’t realise I got so used to the toiletry scent from all my previous stays in Nina that the scent almost somehow signifies the hotel for me.
And having the scent replaced by the new toiletries felt like something was missing in the stay!
So I enquired about the door fixing and whether I could get the toiletries from the past.
The friendly and helpful operator lady, Fiona quickly send technicians (bear bear who is professional and polite!) and fixed our security concern in a blink of an eye!
She also explained the new set of toiletries was implemented a few months back under Nina brand while being understanding of how the new brand made me feel unfamiliar.
Then she kindly and promptly confirmed with the help of respective staff that old stocks were still available and have staff玉梅 deliver 5 bottles to my room straight away.
I was very impressed with the gesture of taking my enquiry seriously, taking prompt actions and taking extra steps to have guest feel like home. Of course it wouldn’t have done without help from other staff including Julia, Chris, Sammy, Jimmy, Jeff, as well as Cathy’s superb leadership.
Would definitely revisit

Our hotel stay at the Arca was quite satisfactory. The room was quite big and there were three comfortable beds. The toilet is also very spacious and large, and allows for two shower rooms inside. The design of the room was quite smart, all in all. The location was okay, easily visible from the nearest station. The service was also very good, they even offered us a complimentary cake for my wife’s birthday as well as three complimentary drinks as an apology for the slightly delayed check-in. All in all, great hotel!

This was my home for almost 6 weeks after I moved to Hong Kong. At first I was put off by the damp and freezing A/C, but I became used to the conditions and really miss living here. The staff are super friendly and helpful, breakfast is delicious (even though it's just continental breakfast, no eggs or real food), and daily cleaning service was great. Big rooms also helped make it feel like home, and not just a hotel room.
I wish I chose to stay here long-term, at least one year, instead of getting a village apartment on Lamma Island. My HK experience started off well but this decision has ruined the whole thing for me and now I don't want to stay.

Good day!
I was staying at your property from November 16th, 2024 to November 18th, 2024 and I was there for my business trip.
When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted and checked in very short time.
I was given a room on a decent floor, and had a chance to see and enjoy all beauty of Hong Kong.
The room was clean and comfortable.
I really enjoyed my time here. Even though the hotel is quite high up on the mountain, it wasn't a problem for me because the view from the window is worth it. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Thanks a lot for your excellent hospitality, I can no doubt recommend this hotel!

Good location for me as I run errand there. Near to bus stop and airport bus A10 is 5mins walk. There's a MacDonald and a few convenient stores and supermarket around. Quick check-in with a deposit of HKD500. There's a lift under maintenance so there's a queue to go upstairs. Room is basic but clean. My room is directly opposite the lift so there's a little noise. Overall, value for money.

Me and husband were a bit worried since the rate on Google Maps and some are bad, but it was clean and exactly as described in the description. It’s sure that 7 minutes from Central Station by foot, but uphill and many stairs, so it’s difficult to walk if you have a suitcase.

Good location, good service. We haven't found any problem using the hotel. Reception staff provided a very good information on getting to the airport by bus (A11). Getting to the airport by bus was a very convenient and fast with a comparatively good fare vs. airport express train.

Exit A1 of 西営盤 Station and walk in the right direction to reach the hotel in 2 minutes. The rooms are compact, but that can't be helped as all hotels in Hong Kong are small. You can leave your luggage by the window. Large trunks can be stored under the bed. Breakfast is also good.
The building is old, but it is well cleaned. Shampoo and bath soap are available. They are the same colour, so they may be the same liquid. It is better to bring your own if you are concerned. Conditioner bottles are available but empty. You should prepare this yourself as well.
Above all, it is close to the station and safe.
There are many restaurants around and daily necessities are available, so it is convenient. I will use it again.

Very Good
MMonica_ChiWe had a pleasant one-night stay at Royal Plaza Hotel as a family. The hotel is modern, clean, and well-located, making it a convenient base for our short trip. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and we appreciated the high-quality amenities. The beds were comfortable, providing a relaxing environment for us to rest.
The location is excellent, being directly connected to the MOKO shopping mall, which offered easy access to shopping and dining. The hotel’s proximity to public transport also made it easy to get around Hong Kong.
However, one downside was the noisy air conditioning in our room, which made it difficult to sleep comfortably at times. The noise was a bit distracting, which took away from an otherwise pleasant stay.
Additionally, while the hotel offers a lot of great features, we did feel it might not be the most kid-friendly option, as there weren’t many child-focused amenities or activities.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and Royal Plaza Hotel is a solid choice for a family looking for a comfortable and convenient hotel. Just be aware of the aircon noise and consider other options if you're traveling with younger children.

GGuest UserThe hotel is very close to the airport. If you take the AirPort Express train to the Asia World Expo station, it’s maybe 3-5 minutes away by feet - it’s actually directly connected to the station so you don’t even have to go outside! They provide a shuttle to the airport every 15 minutes which is great. I think the ride lasts maybe 5 minutes? It’s very short, the airport is genuinely super close.
The staff is very helpful. According to Hong Kong law, the hotels cannot distribute plastic water bottles so instead, each room gets a glass bottle that you can go refill whenever. There are several stations on each floor to do this. I thought this was a really good system.
They have a bar with a very nice atmosphere. Many people are sitting there waiting for their late flights and the vibe was really good!
It’s somewhat of a basic business hotel. It was nice and clean but I felt like it was nothing extra - for this reason, I thought the price was way too high. This was my only problem. However, we also need to remember that this is Hong Kong, so it won’t be cheap.
GGuest UserWe were very disappointed as previous stay with a lower class room we were given big room but this time we wanted to have even better so we selected the highest room category. by paying mush higher price by seeing the room pictures on the room details section with writing table and a chair etc and bigger moving area but unfortunately they gave us mush smaller room then last time even , so this is like misguiding the customers or cheating buy getting extra money . very very disappointed !!! look at the pictures
GGuest UserA very nice, calm, spacy and comfortable room in a very good location close to a metro station. Very good public communication to some of the city's major attractions. Highly recommended!
KKs925Room is small but the room I have chosen comes with balcony. Toilet is small but hot shower is consistent with good pressure. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggages before leaving. The location is good and lots of eatery nearby.
YYong VennyThey dont provide bottled water or amenities that use plastic. However, you can boil water from the tap dan they provide the pitcher as well as the electric jug.
You cannot find any restaurant around the hotel but you can take the free shuttle bus to Tsuen Wan Station and you can find foods seller there. The food price in hotel is acceptable for my breakfast dan dinner.
The view from my room is awesome dan the room size is big. My room has a living room dan pantry with sink.
JJaneth Penilla101percent very clean I like the room very simple but nice ..also the view very nice can see the view of city ❤️ but hope nextime have a personal kit for body hygiene 🪥🪥🪥🪥 but all is very nice 💯
RRichardLocation is next to beach, vicinity is peaceful .
The amenities and fixtures were basic considering it was a 3 star establishment.
A refurbished environment , still comfortable with friendly staff.
AAngbabaylanIt is an old building. Some parts were still pretty. My room was clean. I was a little confused when I was looking for my room. Most of the staff were nice. The lobby guy around 5 or 6am was really helpful giving me directions to 711. The staff during check in was nice enough but there was a little hint of impatience maybe he was tired and there were a lot of customers checking in that time. I didn’t see seaside which was a shame. There is construction going on.
