"My stay far exceeded expectations! Despite its city-center location, it was incredibly peaceful and pleasant, with an abundance of dining and shopping options nearby.
Even though the hotel opened a few years ago, the room facilities are excellent, and the rooms are spacious. The front desk staff were warm, efficient, and check-in was a breeze. They even thoughtfully upgraded us to a high-floor room with a fantastic view.
Our room was spacious and bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering excellent views. The bedding was incredibly soft and comfortable, easily meeting five-star standards. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area. A special shout-out to the soundproofing – we had a perfectly undisturbed night's sleep.
We initially chose this hotel after driving from Lanzhou on our first day, and it was so good we decided to stay here again for our last night. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and shopping is very convenient.

"I picked this hotel based on online recommendations.
Facilities: Decent, and fairly comprehensive. However, the bathroom amenities were a bit basic – only a toothbrush and toothpaste were provided. There was no comb, shower cap, or disposable toilet seat cover. While I don't particularly mind the absence of a comb, I do think a shower cap and toilet seat cover are essential items that should be supplied.
Cleanliness: Generally quite clean. Though I did notice some hair/dust when wiping surfaces with a wet wipe, it was acceptable overall.
Location: Excellent, right next to the train station. Xining Station is less than a 10-minute walk away, which is incredibly convenient. It's surprisingly quiet despite being in a busy area, thanks to being on a high floor. I can only imagine how noisy the lower floors of the adjacent Quanji Hotel would be.
Service: Acceptable. The laundry room setup could be improved; I'd suggest adding another dryer.
Although there's no air conditioning, a small electric fan was provided, which was perfectly fine. They also have a humidifier. What's more, the room was incredibly spacious, and the generous 1.35m wide bed was a definite plus! The bedding quality was excellent, ensuring a very comfortable sleep. Free TV was also a welcome bonus. Breakfast was decent, and the yogurt was especially delicious."

"I got upgraded to a Deluxe Supreme room for my business trip. The room was very spacious, perfect for a family of three, and even had a bathtub. My child loved soaking in it after playing outside all day. However, the stone base in the shower stall was damaged, which was a bit of a letdown. Overall, I was satisfied with the room's facilities; it was comfortable for sleeping and didn't feel stuffy. As for the service, it's not comparable to HUAZHU Group hotels. The breakfast was a bit of a 'fake fancy' affair; while it looked like there was a variety, aside from the freshly cooked noodles and vermicelli, the quality of everything else was very mediocre. Things like cakes, bread, and pan-fried dumplings were all pretty standard. So, don't set your expectations too high for breakfast, and it's definitely not worth paying extra for."

"Sally is so great. She even loan us a wal power adapter we badly need it. She and her friendly hotal staffs arranged a courtesy shuttle to train station. "The hotel's location is excellent, right across from Wanda Plaza and above Tangdao 637. The front desk staff were also very friendly. Although this isn't a brand-new hotel from the last couple of years, the rooms are well-maintained and comfortable to sleep in. My only minor issues were that the hot water indicator on the showerhead wasn't very clear and was marked incorrectly, and there was some drainage problem in the shower that caused water to pool. The hairdryer was a bit old, specifically, the folding joint was too loose. For late-night snacks, they offered sour soup dumplings and tangyuan (sweet glutinous rice balls), plus some delicious yogurt! Free parking is available, and even though the parking garage is a bit complex, the signs are quite clear."

"Staying at the Qaidam International Hotel felt incredibly welcoming right from the moment I entered the lobby. It was fresh and elegantly simple, and the aromatherapy smelled lovely. The doorman's enthusiasm was the first thing I noticed upon arrival, and the front desk staff were very professional and provided comprehensive information. My room was spotlessly clean, and the location is fantastic. There are many local specialties in the Wukuang alley, making it super convenient for exploring. The facilities are also very smart. "I will start off by saying that the room and bathroom were well appointed, the staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious. However, whilst the room was generally clean, when I dropped something that subsequently rolled under a fitted unit, I was pretty disgusted to see the dust and filth beneath it. It clearly had not been cleaned for…well…ever? I appreciate that these areas will not be as clean as the more visible parts of the room, however for a five star hotel, this is unacceptable. I do not expect to find dirty tissues and a thick layer of dust and dirt anywhere in my hotel room. But by far the absolute worst part of my stay was the inability to control the temperature in the room whatsoever. The room was so swelteringly hot that despite the comfortable bed, and everything to go with it, I was almost unable to sleep at all. I do not expect this in a five star hotel(and have never experienced it other than here and at anther Wanda hotel in Hohhot), I pay for luxury; controlling the room temperature is a basic requirement that I can even do in a 50 yuan a night hostel dorm. When I asked the staff at reception the following morning I was told the AC wouldn’t be available until after April 15th because ‘it’s cold outside’. Firstly, I am not sleeping outside, I am sleeping inside, on the 22nd floor, where it is anything but cold. Not to mention it was April, not January, even in Xining it is not that cold. Secondly, as a paying guest, in a five star hotel, it should be up to me to decide if it is hot or cold, not the hotel. For this reason, as lovely as the room, staff and breakfast may have been, I would not stay here again. I checked out and moved to the lower rated Hilton, where I could control the room temperature and actually managed to sleep…generally what the whole point of a hotel is."

"Haiyou Hotel is truly a hidden gem among budget hotels! The price is affordable, but the experience is incredibly good value. The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was comfortable – it completely exceeded my expectations. For travelers on a budget who still want quality, this is definitely a top choice! The front desk staff was so warm and helpful! She proactively upgraded my room and even provided detailed information on local eateries and transportation routes. Any requests I had during my stay were addressed incredibly quickly, making me feel right at home."

GGuest UserI have two things to say. I am so angry that I have to express my true feelings. First, the air conditioner has not been fixed since we checked in yesterday until about 9:40 last night. We went to the front desk 4 times, and the maintenance workers changed several times. In the end, it was almost 10 o'clock and there was nothing we could do. We asked the children to go down and ask, and they said it was not fixed. Shouldn't you tell us if you can't fix it? If you don't ask, do we have to wait? And we have been waiting for the maintenance worker in the room. We had no choice but to open the door and window. At about 11 o'clock in the evening, the temperature difference dropped. From the time we checked out to now, no one has given us an explanation, not even an apology. Second, what is your rule of free parking for 12 hours? Think about it yourself. Is it reasonable? If you can't afford it, don't embarrass yourself. Even if you check in at 2 pm, 12 hours, shouldn't you check out at 2 am? Then shouldn't you charge only half of the room fee? Friends who are coming to Xining in the near future, please avoid the pitfalls.

Tthe_wanderlust_jellyWas told I am given a free room upgrade, but honestly I can't tell the difference. Also the room in the listing image was larger and brighter but the actual room I received was extremely rather grim looking, not to mention it doesn't even look like half the room size in the listing image. I also can't seem to adjust the aircon temp as it will remain at room temperature no matter what I set, however xining is quite cooling in general so it's still acceptable. In the room I was give, the glass panel at the washroom side had a severely cracked side which seem like it will break if I had closed the glass door too hard. I took a video immediately before using the toilet in case it really does get shattered, but luckily it did not Very unsafe nevertheless. The shower was the worst, every night I had to gamble if it will be cold or scalding hot water. I set the shower value slightly towards the warm side, and the water became scalding hot within seocnds, and if I move it to the cold side, it became freezing cold within seconds. Even if I set it exactly in the middle, it will give me either one of the extreme temperature. Had to keep adjusting from hot to cold so that it stay at a comfortable and safe temp range. The toilet bowl flush in a very stupid manner too, by first flooding the bowl from bottom up, this means that if you took a dump and it's a slightly sticky one, it's gonna stick. The electric kettle was so noisy when turned on that it sound like a train passing right beside my room. And speaking of noise, the sound proofing of the room was one of the worst of every single hotel I stayed in before. You can literally hear new occupants dragging their luggage or family chattering non stop right after they exit the lift. FYI, my room was literally the furthest away. Every time your neighbors from 3 room away turn on their tap water, you can hear it, even if that's like 4am in the night. The hairdryer is a safety hazard too. Tried to use it once and after plugging in and turning it on, smoke immediately came oozing out of it, so I immediately switched it off and remove the plug. Never used it since. Oh yes one last thing I have to say is that as a hotel PLEASE NEVER USE MOVEMENT OR VOICE CONTROLLED LIGHTINGS. While I wash up every day, I had to keep waving my hands like an ***** every few minutes in order to prevent the lights from going out. The detection is sooooo off that unless there's a huge action at the correct spot, it will not turn the lights back. This was absolutely annoyance.
However the things I mentioned above are although not welcomed, but can be tolerated.
Personally, the only thing I really love about this was the free tea. And that is also a highly recommended must try. I believe that's ******* black tea which is also a local specialty. I regret not trying earlier because at the latter of my trip, I no longer pass by stores that sells ******* black tea. Recommendation to the hotel is include a way to buy some of this tea.
Overall, I will only recommend the hotel to someone who do not have any other choice or have a lower budget in mind.

I was the only guest during the 4 nights I was there, so not much of an atmosphere despite the nice social areas. The heating system (underfloor) works only in the night so it's a bit chill during the day. There are hot showers and possibly of doing laundry (10yuan a load).

HHenrionDourcyThis is honestly the best deal in town. I have been coming to Xining for 10 years, stayed in different hotels each time. This is for sure my favourite one and the best deal in this range of prices.
First, the location. Right in the city centre, with a lot of taxis coming by (this can be an issue for hotels in other locations, where taxis are more rare). It is super convenient and one can reach any part of town efficiently and quickly. There are many buses that go from here to anywhere in town.
Second, the quality of the room, of the bed (super super cosy and comfortable, which is really nice after travelling roughly for two weeks in the nearby countryside), the cleanliness of the room and bathroom. Very good hygiene products, not cheap toothpaste and soap like in other hotels.
Third, and most importantly, the quality and warmth of the service. At the reception, the employees are very friendly and understanding, very warm-hearted, You feel really welcome in this hotel. They have helped me in several ways. especially Mrs Jane and Mrs Sunny Bai: fantastic people! They also speak English! Makes the whole stay memorable, enjoyable, relaxing.
I will surely come back here next time. This is an upper-tier hotel made available with affordable prices.

GGuest UserThe location is wonderful if you need the train, as it is literally just outside the train station, less than 10 minutes' walking from your train.
We needed the day room to rest between the morning and evening trains, and it works well for us. However, there are some issues we did not like. 1. We booked and paid through Trip, but at the receipton (we checked in early, which was great!) the receiptionst requested 100 rmb, which he said was a deposit that must be paid on the spot, and will be refunded in the morning. This was suspicious to us because nothing of this sort was stated on Trip, and no other bookings in China we made through Trip ever required any deposits, even less so in cash. When I showed him the original booking and payment, and insisted that we are only taking the room for the day, he stopped insisting on the ”deposit.”

The room used to be very nice, indeed, and preserves some of that niceness still: the bed is wonderful, with crispy linen, multiple different pillows, and very clean. the bathroom is nicely decorated and contained basic amenities, and the storage space is wonderful and spacious. However, like in some other Chinese hotels we stayed, the indicators of maintenance are the shower and the carpeting. In this room, the bed is super clean, but the bathroom and carpeting are either poorly cleaned, or not at all. We found hair and even a wrapping in the shower, while the carpeting in the room, elevator, and corridors was not cleaned in a long time. And yet, there are some such nice touches in this room, like the living creeper placed in a small vase in the bathroom, or the very nice wardrobe. The room is currently missing a fridge (although there is space for it), and it has not AC, although the corridors are cooled well. Instead, there is a fan, which in the afternoon heat barely helped.

AAnonymous UserStaying at the Boway Hotel was an absolutely fantastic experience! The location is superb, just a few minutes' walk to the bus stop, making it super convenient for getting around and shopping. The room was clean and tidy, with soft and comfortable bedding. The bathroom had a great wet/dry separation and no unpleasant odors. The facilities were well-maintained, and both the air conditioning and WiFi worked perfectly. The staff were warm and attentive, handling check-in and check-out efficiently, and even proactively offered local sightseeing tips. The breakfast offered a wide variety of fresh ingredients. It's incredibly good value for money, and I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit!
