Sunrise Suites

The hotel was excellent. It was by far the most spacious and memorable room during our trip. The hotel is just across the street from Toji temple and can be seen from the room or the communal balconies. It was nice that it came with a kitchenette and supplies in case we wanted to make our own food during our stay. Overall, the room and communal areas were clean and orderly. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Kyoto.

We had a lovely room on the first floor right next to a koi pond and also the beautiful zen garden in the center. Our room was very spacious, had a comfortable bed, kitchenette and the bonus of a washer/dryer combination. I did too many things in a load to get them properly dry but with our translation app we were able to figure out the dry only feature to extend our dry time. It is a bit noisy so better to do it earlier than later as not to annoy other guests. Loved being able to do laundry! The location was great for us. It’s an easy walk to Toji Station. The breakfast brought to the room is beautifully presented. The beef choice was really good. It’s not what we’re used to eating but oh, so fun to try at least once! And then, there are convenience stores and a nice grocery store nearby. It was so fun to come back to the room and find our slippers waiting just beyond the traditional Japanese Noren curtain. We definitely recommend staying at Sunrise Suites. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional and helpful.

We stayed at this hotel for one night during our holiday to Japan, regrettably, we couldn't extend due to the nature/locations of our trip - if possible we would have stayed longer. Check-In and features: Check-In was a stress-free experience, we arrived at the hotel later in the night after stopping in Kyoto to view some of the amazing gardens on display, on arrival the staff was friendly and helpful with any questions we had; they explained the nature of the hotel and its perks such as a top floor view of the To-ji Gojunoto Five Storey Pagoda across the street (we recommend seeing this at night for a great sight), a koi pond next to the entrance outside, and a garden in the middle of the lobby area as well as much more features that made this place different from anywhere else we've ever stopped! The staff also spoke great English which made us feel comfortable as our Japanese if still in learning. The Room: I was really impressed with everything the room had to offer - first of all you are given an actual key to enter the room which makes a nice change from most other places offering a keycard. On entering the room; everything was neat and in order, we were given: A comfy bed kitchen area with cooking utensils (on use were great) Table and two chairs to eat meals at Personal washing/drying machine A relaxing bathroom Service room with free amenities such as toothbrushes and a hairbrush A TV with language-specific channels (made us feel more at home) Sliding window blinds (in a traditional Japanese style) Many more features! This hotel brought my dream of stopping at a traditional-style Japanese accommodation to life in every way. Another thing I would like to mention is the breakfast; you are able to choose what time you would like breakfast and are offered a set menu from which to select. I tried the beef breakfast and was very satisfied with the meal. I was more so impressed with the hotel staff who brought it to us, on noticing I was English, the staff member provided me with a sheet of English literature regarding the local gardens with help and recommendations for us, on top of this the member of staff was incredibly respectful and took the time to speak to me about our holiday and events happening back in the UK. (I didn't get the name of this staff member but I can't begin to describe the positive impact he made on our stay) Location: We were more than happy with the location of this stay, all-purpose shops nearby as well as entertainment shops made sure we had anything we wanted/needed - we also took in a lot of culture in and around the hotel which made our stay more authentic. I could not think of anything that this place could improve on - and when we eventually return given the chance, we hope to find Sunrise Suites the same! Thank you for making our journey in Kyoto one of the best experiences we will ever have.
