Casa do Barao

We had a lovely time at this hotel. Customer service was 10/10. We had to break up our stay in two rooms. Room 35 (superior room) and Room 13. Room 35 was a tiny smaller than we pictured but the little balcony was nice! It’s an older home of course so the people above us walking made the floors creak pretty badly. We used ocean sounds on our phone to try to minimize it. If you’re a light sleeper it won’t work. The beds were on the firmer side. Room 13 was bigger and on the street side. We acutely preferred the size of this room. The hotel is very well taken care of, fresh paint, crisp linens etc. we loved having pastries available all day in the common area and being able to sit out in the backyard. Great place to stay if traveling with another couple or group.

From the minute we booked this delightful hotel til we closed the door after a four day stay, this is our favorite hotel anywhere we have stayed! The communication from the hotel is always fantastic. The airport pickup that they arranged was waiting and worked perfectly. ( we do have WhatsApp so he could communicate with us as soon as we logged into the airport WiFi) The hotel location is perfect for walking the city. Madalana was expecting us and gave us a tour of the hotel, took our bags, and returned to say our room was ready! The common rooms have an old world charm and a beauty that is unparalleled. No detail has been missed, down to decorating an old metal wire in the breakfast area that was disguised as a branch with butterflies! The breakfast area is open to the patio for outside dining if one chooses where there is lush greenery and a lap pool. Breakfast and afternoon snack cakes and cookies are prepared by Angela and her helpers and simply delicious! Every detail in this hotel has been thought out and makes for a perfect stay. The small European elevator is modern and quiet. Our room had a balcony on the street side and only drawback was the occasional late night noisy reveler passing by on street. Loved our small Juliet Balcony. Madalana and Joanna, our hosts were so helpful with recommendations for restaurants and other tips. Both these ladies are now friends. Visiting here is like visiting family! If we could rate higher than 5 star we would! Will definitely recommend and return!

A short city break (mother & son) to Lisbon and a perfect place to stay. The reviews on TripAdvisor were spot on. The accommodation was spotless, balcony views of the river, a lovely breakfast with lots of choice, both sweet and savoury (homemade cakes and brownies were amazing) all packaged in a quiet residential area. A very convenient location for checking out the sights either on foot or utilising the trams, buses, or trains. The owners provided lots of useful info on the sights and local restaurants which we found helpful. We visited By the Wine which is a short distance away - great for tapas and has an extensive wine/port collection A great place to stay and one we would happily return to. Thank you Casa do Barao!
