Riad Antara

Beautiful, small, calm and peaceful, south of the Medina (easy walk to most places), great service, lovely roof top available for breakfast, afternoon tea or pre-dinner drinks. Not cheap but worth it ! (Only regret: the beds are all quite hard, not everyone’s cup of tea).

A Haven of Warmth and Beauty in Marrakesh Riad Antara is a gem. From the moment we stepped inside, the noise and bustle of the city seemed to fall away. The riad itself is exquisite; every detail is thoughtfully chosen, and the design is elegant and understated. It feels more like being welcomed into a private home than staying in a hotel. What makes it truly special, though, are the people. Laurence and Anna, the proprietors, radiate warmth and graciousness. Their calm, genuine hospitality sets the tone for the whole place. The staff are extraordinary: kind, attentive, and quietly thoughtful in ways that never feel forced. One small example says everything: we were leaving late in the day for Casablanca to catch an early flight the next day and had already checked out. Before we left, the team handed us a bag with a beautifully packed “to-go” dinner. It was such a simple but deeply considerate gesture. Riad Antara is tranquil, beautiful, and filled with heart. It was a highlight of our time in Morocco.

There’s nothing I can say to properly express how amazing this place is! The interior is breath taking! It’s beautiful, elegant, and sophisticated. Attention was put into every single detail. We loved everything about the property. Now onto the part of our stay that touched our hearts and changed our trip around.. we initially booked a different riad which turned out to be far less than our expectations. We booked our stay at riad Antara last minute when we decided to abandon our initial accommodation. Anne and Abdul met us down the street from Riad Antara and helped us carry our luggage. They even saved us from a man actively trying to swindle us for money. We were greeted with a pastry spread and Moroccan tea. Laurent owns this Riad with Anne and they made sure to treat us like family. Our last morning in Marrakech came super early.. before the sun came up. Laurent and another employee met us at the room to take our luggage down. They packed us a two person lunch to take with us on our journey to the Sahara. It was heart touching. Then, Laurent and staff carried our luggage all the way to the pick up spot we needed to be at by 6:30am - understand that the streets in Marrakech are cobble stone so dragging a heavy suitcase is no easy task. I received a text from Laurent the following day saying that we had left a very large, expensive painting behind at the Riad. Laurent went to the trouble of finding a way to package it and mail it back to us in the states. There’s not a single bad thing to say about this place. It was truly magical. Everything was taken care of for us despite booking it the day of. We love Laurent, Anne, and Abdul! We’re forever grateful. They turned our trip around for sure.

The Riad Antara was pure luxury and nothing was too much for our hosts, Anne & Laurent. We were contacted via email a few days after we booked to clarify booking and arrival details and were provided with lots of recommendations for places to eat. Laurent and Abdul greeted us at the nearby car park where our taxi dropped us off and escorted us to the Riad. We received a warm welcome with dates, fresh tea and a surprise gift. The Riad is very well located near the Bahia Palace and only 15mins walk to the Jemaa El Fna Square. Tip for a nearby ATM - use the Post Office around the corner from the Riad, near the palace which didn’t charge us for Revolut withdrawals. Our room was the Abla Suite on the ground floor, which was spacious and clean with a king size bed and a small sofa area by a fireplace. Each room is uniquely different and we did not feel intruded upon despite being by the main courtyard of the Riad. The bathroom was very opulent with a separate bath & shower, including his & hers sinks and fantastic toiletries. We felt safe and secure at all times and were made to feel like this was our home. The breakfasts were excellent with a wide variety of foods to indulge upon including locally baked breads, pancakes, eggs, fruit bowls, to name a few. Sadly we couldn’t try the restaurant on-site for dinner as the chef was sick for our stay, but Laurent was quick to find and book us alternatives. There is a rooftop terrace for eating breakfast and dinner, but was too cold to use for our stay. It also has some loungers for sunbathing when warmer and watching the sunset. The pool area was very secluded and had an additional lounge area for relaxing. There are water jets and we had a brief swim, but the water was a bit cold for our liking. I have to call out the helpfulness and attentiveness of Abdul who ensured we were greeted every time we returned from our day out with dates and tea. Even late at night after dinner and drinks he was ready to send us to sleep with some herbal tea. We liked the dates so much he even went to the local store to collect some for us to take home, so we weren't ripped off by tourist prices. On our last day we booked the spa for a couples Hamman and it was excellent. Very relaxing and a good price, considering the location and quality of oils etc. Overall, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed in Riad Antara for a few nights recently and were completely taken away by our experience there. The hospitality of Antara’s owners Anne and Laurent is second to none. Their team of staff is extremely attentive, friendly and well trained, too. We also loved the style of the beautifully renovated riad which brings together traditional Moroccan design and architecture with a distinct modern interpretation. We felt that Antara is perfectly located in the Medina, close to places of interest and very good restaurants yet easily accessible for activities outside the Medina. We can wholeheartedly recommend staying at Riad Antara and would definitely go there when visiting Marrakech in the future!

Marrakesh is a "must experience" city, no? The spirit of it is a riad (boutique hotel = oasis of calm) . Antara is a truly an impressive riad. Classy, impressive architecture. Also very tastefully appointed. Committed & attentive service team. Laurent & Anna from France, the owners, are heartfelt hosts. I'm 73, have been around, and I'd say this is one of the best places I've ever stayed at. Highly recommended......
