HOTEL MOSAICO ★★★★
"Hotel was perfect location for the price just outside of a matera and only a 10 minute drive to the historic sassi area Floors in the washroom were peeling from use and showers had a bit of mold on the bottom edges for the price can't be beat with the free breakfast"
Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & Spa ★★★★★
"I recently stayed at the Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel and Spa in Matera, and it was an unforgettable experience. The rooms are carved out of historic caves, offering a unique and enchanting atmosphere that blends modern luxury with ancient charm. The location is perfect, nestled within the Matera Sassi UNESCO World Heritage site, providing easy access to the city’s main attractions. The hotel’s amenities are top-notch. I particularly enjoyed the spa facilities, which include a sauna, hammam, and a heated indoor pool. The staff were incredibly professional and attentive, ensuring that all my needs were met with a smile. The cleanliness of the rooms and common areas was impeccable, adding to the overall comfort of my stay. One minor downside was the cost of some extras, which felt a bit high. Additionally, while the cave-themed rooms are stunning, they might not be for everyone due to the unique layout and lighting. Despite these small issues, the overall experience was exceptional, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and unique stay in Matera."
FRA I Sassi Residence ★★★★
"Everything is good about this hotel. Breakfast is the best in my two weeks Italy trip. Just one suggestion: please ask for a shuttle at the parking if you drive to Matera. Otherwise it is hard to walk there with luggage and you will easily lost in similar small roads."
Lo Stemma Luxury Boutique Hotel ★★★★
"It has an excellent location, if you had a car you would arrive at the hotel by car, through pedestrians but you will arrive to unload your bags. There is no valet but there is a paid public parking lot, very close to the hotel, 3 minutes walk. The hotel is small, I think it has 10 apartments. The receptionist who served us was extremely polite, attentive, gave us all the information about Matera upon our arrival, There is an elevator for the rooms which are spacious, comfortable, large bathroom, well decorated rooms, comfortable bed, excellent bed and bath linen in the morning is that it's a little simple in a small room, but it was enough, It has a balcony and a room that overlook the city which at night is very beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel"
UNA HOTELS MH Matera ★★★★
"This budget hotel offers excellent value for money, somewhat like a 5-star hotel in China. The public areas are large and new, and the air conditioning in the rooms is very warm. It's a brand hotel worth choosing."
Il Belvedere ★★★
"Great hotel"
Palazzo Viceconte ★★★★
"Located in the heart of Matera, which means you can’t get there by car, but the views and the room made up for the challenge of getting to it. Everyone was very professional. The room was large, clean and suited our needs. It felt like we were staying in someone’s mansion."
Casa della Luna ★★★
Residence San Pietro Barisano ★★★
"Very enjoyable stay. Lovely staff. Nice coffee and breakfast though quite simple. Would have liked some fresh orange juice in the morning rather than the cheap from concentrate stuff. Very happy on the whole though. On the whole good value for money for the sleeping in a cave house type place in Matera. Extra marks for the hotels dog Peggy who is adorable :D"

"Fantastic hotel, the location is absolutely perfect! It's peaceful yet right in the heart of the action. Thumbs up!"
Sant'Angelo, Matera - Small Luxury Hotels
"Such a nonpareil experience being in the beautiful historic Sassi of Matera. Love how SantAngelo thoughtfully respects the architecture, each room elegant whilst aligned with nature. It was a treat to stay in a real cave luxuriously, the rooms kitted out with Ortigia products that smell divine; to walk out into open spaces where one can sit at night and watch the many cats hang out by the old city walls. SantAngelo's breakfast at RegiaCorte is stunning too, I particularly loved the pastries and the selection of cheeses; the dinner service as the sun set was magical, with dishes that elevate the local cuisine. I also loved the pizza at PiuSud, stunningly charred and a flavour experience in one's mouth. The property is located very conveniently within the lower piazza zone, with plenty of food and sights literally at one's doorstep-- Rupestrian churches, views of the Gravina caves, and gelato. SantAngelo's wonderful warm team also arranged everything thoughtfully-- from porters to carry luggage up the sassi steps, a history of the place, to the ApeCalessino tour. Graziemille per tutti!"
Corte San Pietro
"A nice boutique hotel with friendly staff at a good location with restaurants nearby. We booked two rooms - the room on 2nd floor is good but the one on ground floor smells a bit of mould. Perhaps because it’s inside a cave. Breakfast choice is limited with fruits, toast with tomatoes, and cakes. You can order boiled or scrambled eggs as this is the only hot food they serve. We are fine with that but more as fyi."
Hotel Del Campo
"Nice hotel."
Vetera Matera
"Excellent hotel - service, food drinks and of course AMBIANCE! Best location in my view as it’s central to the Matera Sassi area. Simone is the vibrant greeter and host at the restaurant. She starts off your day cheerfully! Francesco and Simone (different one) gave us the perfect couples massage we took in our third and final day. Soothing our muscles from all the blissful walks."
Thymus Residence nei Sassi
"An unforgettable cave stay experience! The host and staff were incredibly welcoming! The breakfast was delicious!"
Locanda di San Martino Hotel & Thermae Romanae
"We stayed in this cave hotel for one night. It feels like something special being in that kind of hotel. The room is very big and has a nice bathroom. The breakfast was also diverse and yummy. You can optionally book Spa, Massage, … if you like. The location is also great, it is in the middle of the old town."
Piazza Mulino 26
"Piazza Mulino is well located close to the center of Matera within easy walking distance of the Sassi. It is a simple place, very clean, and comfortable. Great value for money."
Antico Convicino Rooms Suites & SPA
"Staff is helpful. Room scent & decoration is on point. Excellent hotel to stay"
Il Carrubo Residenza Walk&Stay
"I was with my wife and a couple of friends in this B&B chosen on the basis of positive feedbacks seen on TA and Booking. The structure is in a great location, at the border between Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso, which is built in an old structure naturally excavated in the saxo. The rooms (4 in all) still feature elements of the old dressing structure, even with fossils visible in some times. Our room was especially suited with a beautiful shower in a room with an ancient chamber. Breakfast is discreet, with some typical products of the territory, although not particularly wide in the offer. Information about Matera and the things to see. If I come back to Matera, I will certainly stay at the Carrubo."
Best Western Plus Dimora del Monaco
"Very helpful at reception, about 10 minutes by car from the centre of Matera."
Hotel Sassi
"Very interesting cave hotel! Since there are no cars allowed on adjacent streets, one must walk from the nearest plaza. Cobblestone streets may be treacherous when wet. Handrails rare but helpful when available. Clothes dry very slowly in the rooms because of high humidity. Good breakfast. Great views!"
Hotel San Domenico Al Piano
"Very nice hotel, good location"
Albergo Del Sedile
"The location is great and the facilities are clean and great. The only downside was that the heater was broken, making it difficult to sleep."
