"Booked the pirate room for my birthday son and he loved so much . Clean toilet, downtown many restaurants and supermarkets. no hesitated to recommend to anyone."

The Beeley Inn - Chatsworth
8.3 (56 reviews)

The Beeley Inn - Chatsworth ★★★★★

📍 Devonshire Square, Beeley

"Overall a bit disappointing. We stayed for 2 nights and paid £685 to include one dinner (actually £74 towards dinner) and entrance to Chatsworth House. So overall about £550 for 2 nights bed and breakfast. It’s a premium price but not a premium experience. Good points: breakfast is good and there are premium choices such as eggs Benedict, Royale etc. as well as a very good full English. The bar is great, good beer and not too pricey. Average points: The room was ok, but the bed was quite soft and you felt like you were going to roll onto the floor if on the edge. It was a double so a bit small. (Would have expected. Queen or King). The minibar only had water or a small bottle of milk for tea and coffee. Bad points: The dinner was average. My local pub has better food and more choice. Starters pretty good to be honest (calamari was good and smoked mackerel pate good enough although the sourdough toast was not toast, just bread.) The beef and ale pie was pretty poor. It was filled mostly with gravy and hardly any beef. It was also too salty and the crust not crispy. They tried to charge us for drinks we didn’t have when checking out. Probably an honest mistake and the drinks were taken off the bill but demonstrates some disorganisation. It’s a shame because with a bit of work it could be really good. It’s a great location and lovely inn."

The Fountain Tea Rooms B&B

The Fountain Tea Rooms B&B ★★★★

📍 1 Yeoman St, Bonsall

"An excellent short stay in this B&B situated above a tea room in the village of Bonsall. Check-in is a small window of 2 hours between 2 and 4 pm but it does state that you can organise late check-in if you are stuck. Best to avoid the area around the Heights of Abraham when traveling in at the weekend as it gets very busy. We were there just to check out the area for walking and it suited our needs perfectly. The owner greeted us and made sure we settled in and as a bonus, the tea room was still open to allow us to sample their delicious cakes before unpacking. We went to the Kings Head pub for dinner which is a 3-minute walk up the hill and I must say it was a good choice. Another place with great hospitality with a mix of locals and visitors but more importantly good honest grub. Breakfast was probably one of the best we have ever had at a B&B it was plentiful and there was no compromise on quality, perfect to fuel us for another day on the hills. Thank you for hosting us and giving us good value for money in an excellent location to explore the Peak District National Park."

Premier Inn Matlock
8.2 (43 reviews)

Premier Inn Matlock ★★★

📍 Bakewell Rd, Matlock Town

"Good access as on main road, walkable into Matlock or bus stop outside. Standard room, spacious, comfortable and clean. Bonus was having a bath and shower. Usual Premier Inn facilities in the room which is all you need. Downside was the windows don’t open so have to rely on air conditioning. Breakfast/dining room very pleasant and as breakfast spans a couple of hours there was always space as the staff cleared the tables promptly. It got very hot while we were there and the staff put out glasses and an iced water container on reception, very thoughtful. We would commend all staff that we came in contact with for being approachable, friendly and efficient. We are very happy with what Premier Inn has to offer and will happily book with them again."

Grouse & Claret, Matlock by Marston's Inns ★★★★

📍 Station Road, Rowsley, Matlock

"I was incredibly satisfied. This is the best value hotel I've stayed in the UK. Even though it's near the manor, there's a restaurant on the first floor, making it very convenient for dining. The front desk was also very friendly, and the dinner was quite good. There's also an RV park next to the hotel. If you get off at Sheffield, take bus 218 back past Darcy Manor, then transfer to bus 6 or 1, which takes seven minutes. Remember to walk a few minutes further and cross a small bridge to get there, as navigation isn't always accurate. The local bus is just like a taxi. I originally wanted a taxi to the hotel, but an Uber was £138, which wasn't worth it, so I just took the bus. The scenery along the way was stunning, and it was a wonderful trip."

Florence Nightingale Suites at Lea Hurst

"Svitlana was a wonderful host, very knowledgeable about The Crimean War and she gave us a really insightful tour around the house that was the childhood home of Florence Nightingale. Food was delicious, beautiful full English breakfast in the morning. My partner and I’s bedroom was tidy and very clean. The garden was peaceful, elegant, and well maintained. I have nothing negative to say, it was certainly a beautiful and well needed break in the countryside, in a property rich with British history. -Jack"

"Fab family run B&B with food and its own brewery - Moot Ales. We stayed 3 nights and explored the local area. Room was comfy and warm and noise from downstairs was minimal and didn’t disturb our sleep. The locals were lovely chatting to us in the bar. We will definitely come back next time we are in the area."

"What a fantastic place! Owners, Sue and John, were so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are beautifully and individually decorated and had everything you could need, including a fridge, which was topped up daily with fresh milk and water. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice, and freshly cooked as you ordered. Will definitely be going back. "

The Beeley Inn - Chatsworth ★★★★★
"Checked the menu online in the morning and printed it off. Prices had risen by the time we arrived! Sunday lunch by £2 deserts by £1.50. Now it’s a new name so the menu for the beeley inn has to be the current one? Nope. Food was good but we’ve had better (and worse) The crumble at £8.50 was fresh seasonal. Price on pub menu £10. Not intending on going back anytime soon. Very cold in there too."

Premier Inn Matlock ★★★
"I booked a 2 night stay online with my wife online and decided to pay in arrival. (We chose not to have the meals as we always go out for food) We arrived into Matlock Bath a little earlier than anticipated so decided to call the Premier Inn to ask about adding an early check in to our stay. I attempted to call Premier Inn but this took me 4 attempts as nobody wss answering the telephone. I did eventually get through and spoke to a lovely gentleman who agreed that we could check in early and to make our way there straight away. In total, I paid £157 for a 2 night stay. Yes, it's a little on the expensive side but it's in a fantastic location and only 5 minutes outside of town. If you don't drive, there is a bus stop outside of Premier Inn. You will need the Sixes or the Trans Peak service either to Matlock or you can go the other way to Bakewell Upon arrival, I asked reception for a fan (I have a medical condition which requires me to stay cool, particularly at night) as we find the rooms are always quite warm there. I was told that they don't provide fans. I was puzzled by this as they have provided one on my previous stays. We went up to our room and put the air conditioning on (it was working but not kicking out much cold air). We went out and left it to do it's thing. On our return, we walked into our room and it was like an oven. We went to reception and the lady on reception said it was 25 degrees in our room and that air con is programmed to go off after a short while. I think this needs to be changed. It was way way too uncomfortable in our room. I have to have cold air around me all the time due to my medical condition The lady did play about with the air con settings for our room and after an hour or so, our room finally cooled down. We stayed in room 201 which was not ideal as it's the room right by the exit/entrance door to the corridor so every time a guest was arriving/leaving, the door would bang hard and our room would literally shake. This went on until around 3am and actually did wake us on occasions We also found that the phone signal and wifi signal in room 201 isn't great either. The best thing about the stay is the bed, it is super comfortable and if you are put into a quiet room, you will sleep so well Tea and coffee is provided in the room, some rooms have a bath and shower, some just a shower. There is lift access to the upper floors if you struggle with stairs Despite our issues, we still enjoyed our stay and It won't prevent us from staying again. We visited Crich Tramway Museum and Matlock Farm Park during our stay which i highly recommend. We have had some amazing stays here previously. This most recent one had it's issues but we will be looking forward to staying again in the future"

"We stayed for one night in December and really like this hotel. Our room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was very good (I recommend booking in advance, as it was busy on a Saturday night), and breakfast in the morning, also very good. We will be happy to return some time!"
