This room type is relatively large, but the facilities are old and the mattress is damaged. There is a full-length mirror facing the bed, which is a big taboo for Chinese people. There is no refrigerator in the room, and there is no laundry room in the hotel. There is laundry service but the price is Expensive and not worth it. This time I want to talk about Ctrip, which I have always trusted so much. This is just an ordinary budget hotel, but the asking price is twice as expensive as Dianping.com. Ctrip, which I trust so much, made a reservation in a hurry without looking at other platforms. , you will have to shop around before placing an order in the future😤😤

I've stayed in three M1s, and this is my favourite. It's hard to remember that it's budget hotel, given that it's stylish and modern and that everything is in quietly working order. The location is great, easy walking distance from the train station as well as the river and the quayside attractions as well as all the shopping of the city centre. The breakfast is good; if I could give one suggestion, it would be that after you've stayed two mornings in a row, you're getting tired of the offerings...rotating something in and out each day would help with this.

The room was basic but spotlessly clean, as were the toilets & showers. The bed was very comfortable & the heating was good, and it wasn't as noisy as I expected. The staff were friendly & very helpful too. This was my first time staying at the Albatross Hostel as I was going the Darren Hayes concert at the O2 City Hall & it wasn't too far from the venue. I would recommend this hostel to anyone & would definitely stay there again.

Staff were lovely and helpful Private Room was basic & clean beds very comfy i slept well. It's a big room could of done with bathroom being a little bit bigger. Downside tv is on side wall next to bed, hardly any signal got told aerial was busted luck of the draw if you get a signal. Window didn't stay open had to prop it open with pillow And it would be great if room had decent curtains they didn't shut properly. Unfortunately the site is situated right in between 2 building sites so the area looks quite run down at the moment I'd stay here again but not at the price I paid

We are in the IHG club and have therefore stayed at other Indigo hotels. This was our first visit to Newcastle. We got off to a bad start because when I tried to phone the hotel prior to our arrival I was put into an endless loop which didn't get anywhere. I eventually had to contact Indigo Central who had the same problem getting through. Someone from the hotel did then contact me however and apologised that there were issues with the telephone system. Not a good first impression however. The other issue we had was with the room cards which I had to have re-calibrated a total of five times in the two days we were there. We were eventually told that if we kept them in the same pocket as a mobile phone or in its vicinity this would stop the card working. This is not an issue that we recall having had elsewhere. The room was modern and comfortable, as was the bathroom. We found the mattress to be on the hard side. There were plenty of plugs, there was adequate lighting and a room safe. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided as was a fridge with bottled water. We ate in the hotel on our first night and found the food to be very good. We had been confused that within the hotel itself there were signs referring to a Marco Pierre White restaurant, but it turned out that this had closed. The restaurant is now the Grainger. There was a good choice of self-service breakfast, and also a cooked menu. So the positives outweigh the negatives, and we would probably stay here again if we came back to Newcastle.

Overall our stay was quite good. A few notes: Easy walk from train station Allows late check ins - we arrived late & had arranged with the front desk ahead - they sent very detailed directions to pick up the keys - very clear and worked well!! (Reception only open day hours but communication was excellent) Suite was well appointed - kitchen, fridge, microwave We had 2 bedroom suite - 2 full bathrooms & 2 bedrooms (each had a double bed) The building is dated/older but the suites were clean. No complaints at all. Comfy beds & pillows. Linens were quite pleasant & towels fluffy soft (literally the towels were so fluffy we were all talking about it!) There is a lift/elevator - great for those with luggage. Washing machine - fantastic to have a washer when traveling with a family!! (Note no dryer- just a washer) Considerations: No air conditioning so we opened the windows at night. This meant a lot of noise - a lot. Each night there were people screaming, bottles smashing and sirens. It bothered the light sleepers, others were unfazed. I wouldn’t say the area is “bad” or questionable at all- just there is a lot of nightlife and the noise of which travels straight up into the suite.

Dear All, Grey's st Hotel a Grade 11 listed building Slap bang in the center of the City where I cut my teeth in Life, It had been over 25 years since I was in that part of Me Toon, All the Family had come together for My Loves 60th Birthday, From Australia to Shropshire We gathered and Met up at this Jewel of a find, Our stay was for 3 neets (Nights for the non Geordie's) And From the off were not disappointed The rooms were spacious, clean and tidy, The Hotel itself with a lot of original features still there, history literally on the walls, Inside and oot (out) Although My City has changed a huge amount even in My Lifetime, What will never Change are its People Which is where the Hotels staff get a mention, Young Amy & Liam, On Front of House were exemplary, Professional, Polite, beyond helpful but they key was ”tha banta” two young ones with big smiles and even bigger kind hearts, For going the extra mile setting up Wor Lasses(The Mrs) Birthday cake surprise, I can't tank You enough, Us Geordie's are a Proud, hard working lot, We know how to graft and we certainly know how to let our hair doon (down), My city's History goes way back beyond The Roman Empire, Sat on the banks of the Tyne and to this Day is a Jewel that shines bright, Al (All)) the Staff at Grey's st thank You for helping to have made this trip a memory that No One in my Family will ever Forget. 🖤🤍XXX Ps To our Friend across the Pond Gumdrop216, Comparing My City to a srip in the Dessert that's only 80 years old😂, You should try reading a little before making comments that are uneducated, But funny like Where would the World be without a bit of Banta. FFranfromivegillCannot best the location!!!! Trolley push out of the doors and into the hotel ( or vice versa). No worry about taxi or transfer. Restaurant OK but suffers from the same ailment of so many…. Blinking awful coffee!!!! Also those awful mugs …. I have said before….. I have taken to bringing my own decent mug to drink out of. I ate in the bar last time - similar menu ( same prices) but no booking of a table required. Just got to put up with TV with constant noise or sport…… They let me leave my luggage while I drop off or pick up a hire car…. About 10 minutes walk away. Always my first choice.

We stayed at the hotel because we went to see a stand up comedian in Newcastle that night and thought it would be nice not to have to drive home afterwards . GGuest UserHad a lovely stay but felt let down by several issues. Check in was nice & smooth with friendly staff. We had upgraded our room to a superior & it was lovely & clean but had very little storage, especially the bathroom. This wouldn’t have been a problem for 1 night but we stayed 4. The views from the floor to ceiling window were superb. Room servicing appears to have been stopped throughout the country now since covid & if that is to continue then I would suggest larger bins are provided. Surely over a 4 night stay it is not unreasonable to have the room serviced at least once. Our “king size” bed was in fact 2 singles pushed together with the ever present gap in the middle. The toilet paper was cheap & nasty & out of keeping with the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was buffet style, adequate & reasonable. The drinks menu said there was a “guest ale” & to enquire at the bar to see what is was & the price. When I asked what the “guest ale” was I was told it was CIDER. Location is no more than a 5 minutes walk from the railway station. Overall we had a vey enjoyable stay & would definitely stop again.

GGuest UserI stayed 4 nights as part of a National Coach Holiday trip, with Bed Breakfast and Evening meal included in the package. The location of the hotel and the communal areas cannot be faulted, and all areas were very clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. The big disappointment was being told that we could not get our evening meal until 7.30pm. We had to pre book from a 3 course menu on arrival and subsequently each evening. 7.30 pm was late for a lot of us, being of a mature age! Also service was badly planned as the waiting staff came out and went round the room asking who was having which dish. This not only took a lot of time and also some people forgot what they had pre -ordered. With 3 courses to serve we did not finish until 9pm. This is not the waiting staff's fault, but bad management practice. However on the fourth night, all was chaos. two more coach parties had been booked in and there was mayhem, and a near riot in the dining room with about 160 people trying to get seated. it was after 8pm before service started, again not the fault of the staff. A lady on our table did not get her starter at all. I think she was quite relieved as Bruschetta does not consist of a lump of soggy brown bread, a roughly chopped tomato, some thick slices of onion, and the half dead and wilted salad greens which were served with most meals. No apology from the management. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms were a good size and were clean, but the bathroom was shabby, chipped bath and basin and a toilet seat that was not very secure. The beverage station did not get replenished until Thursday, and the dirty mugs did not get replaced throughout our stay. The. basin tap broke on Thursday morning, which I reported, but it did not get fixed. Can't fault the staff, but working practice and management leave a lot to be desired. Thank goodness for my fellow travellers, whose friendship and brilliant sense of humour made it all worthwhile. Also thanks to National Coach Holidays and our driver.

GGuest UserGreat location close to train station. Very clean modern hotel at a good price. Nice pretty chicks at the reception. Very comfortable bed and a great bathroom. Many attractions near the hotel. Snacks and drinks are available from the vending machine. There are code keys everywhere, which means that outsiders have limited opportunities to roam around the hotel. The only downside turned out to be that a room with a window means a room with a window to other windows from which other residents were staring.

GGuest UserWell what a little gem of a Hotel. Beautiful location right next to the Castle and near the Quayside. We had a lovely stay, the Staff were fantastic! So helpful and polite and friendly and very very professional. We felt very special and looked after. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was lovely. We didn't have any meals there except for breakfast which was tasty and there was plenty of options, the Staff in there again were very lovely and attentive. Saying all this a couple of little niggles the Hotel was so hot! To be fair the weather was beautiful when we were there but there is no air conditioning in the building. I do appreciate it is an older building and it's not always possible to install Air Con Units but a few fans scattered around would have made it a bit more bearable in the public areas . There was a fan provided in our bedroom which was very welcome as the sun facing the windows all day ! We also found the bed not very comfortable, the mattress was too hard for our liking but then this may suit other people so it's not a criticism really of the Hotel more our preference to have a softer mattress. All in all we Would definitely go back to this hotel but I think I would go in the colder months.

GGuest UserSituated adjacent to Newcastle Central Station is this rather magnificent old hotel. Although the decor is dated and old , it has some beautiful architectural qualities to the building. 2 magnificent glass chandeliers suspended from the upper floor all the way down the incredible staircases. My room was old , but very comfortable and very clean, although a little warm. I slept with the window open which was fine. Breakfast in the morning was a mix of cereal, buffet fried English and bread/croissants. It was absolutely delicious and the staff serving tea/coffee very attentive. The breakfast room/bar area is very pleasant. I did nit pay much for my room/ breakfast so my expectations were modest at best, but were exceeded in every way. Well done to all the staff! Location is also brilliant for a night out on the toon!

GGuest UserI was nervous about staying here after all the reviews, but actually wasn't as bad as some of the reviews I'd read! Yes the hotel is very dated, it has the look and feel of a 70s/80s type hotel. It could do with new carpets, furniture a lick of paint, but it was clean. The bedding smelt clean and looked it, no marks etc. Bathroom was also clean and had amenities such as shampoo, shower gel. We didn't eat there so cannot comment on food (took the 2min drive along to The Badger) We had an early morning flight so checked in 630pm and checked out by 6am. It did us just fine I genuinely can't complain, I paid £55 for a room and 8 nights parking!
