Cannot best the location!!!! Trolley push out of the doors and into the hotel ( or vice versa). No worry about taxi or transfer. Restaurant OK but suffers from the same ailment of so many…. Blinking awful coffee!!!! Also those awful mugs …. I have said before….. I have taken to bringing my own decent mug to drink out of.
I ate in the bar last time - similar menu ( same prices) but no booking of a table required. Just got to put up with TV with constant noise or sport……
They let me leave my luggage while I drop off or pick up a hire car…. About 10 minutes walk away.
Always my first choice.

The staff were so welcoming and helpful. The rooms were clean and the facilities good. The breakfast was of a good quality.
The only slight negative were the pillows (not comfortable for us) but overall a great place to stay.

The cleanliness is good, bed is comfortabe, facilities is ok.
The only thing is the noise from the outside, the buiding is near the main road, so it's a little noisy sometimes, the double glzing helps to reduce the noise.
The location is 10 minutes walk from the train station, The road from the train station to the hotel is uphill, and some places are quite steep, making it difficult to pull the suitcase.

The location is good, very close to the train station and subway, and not on the main road, so it is relatively quiet throughout the day. The breakfast on the first day after checking in was very good. On the second day, the restaurant began a three-month renovation (January-March 2024), and I immediately felt that the breakfast was not good. After the restaurant renovation is completed, breakfast is still worth ordering. The room has wooden floors, which is nice and not damp. You can see traces of a layer of white glue added to the brick joints in the bathroom after the mold became moldy, which affects the overall impression. The opening in the air-conditioning area is too large. You can hear the sound of air or water flowing in the pipes at night. It is not loud, but it is not easy for sensitive people. The air conditioner itself was fine and the room didn't feel cold. The staff are very warm and friendly which is a plus point for the hotel. It is suitable for tourists who come and go in a hurry and care about convenient transportation, but it is not suitable for tourists who have high requirements for hygiene details.

The room are clean and supplied with adequate daily consumables such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, iron, iron board, electric water boiler, coffee, tea, etc. We had requested them to provide one more quilt to us and was attended to timely. The hotel’s location is great, which only minute’s walk from central station. The service is fine and the room is big. However, the wall of the room is just like a ‘paper’, we can clearly hear the outside noise. It’s really noisy and the cleaning staff even works from early morning and really disturb us to sleep. Also, they just use the key to open our door without asking or checking if we are still in the room and sleep, which is only 9am. Besides, the bathroom’s water sound is so loud and almost influenced us for a whole night. Overall, it is a not recommended place to live if you want to have a quiet and safe sleeping environment.

The apartment hotel is really great...it has air conditioning and heating! However, the heating should not be turned on too high, maybe 24, otherwise the bathroom floor will burn. There are all the kitchen utensils you can think of, but the knife is a bit too dull and very difficult to cut. The refrigerator is very big and the freezer is awesome. I have stayed there. There are so many rooms, this should be the first one I would think of. If there is a next time, there is a high chance that I will stay here again~

Stayed one night - bank holiday Sunday in a Club double room with full English buffet breakfast and a drinks voucher each included. We stayed in room 511 which seemed slightly more spacious than other rooms of this type however only had a partial river view due to being at the end of the corridor. On booking we had requested to have additional pillows for the bed and this was done for our arrival. A very good overnight stay in a hotel located within easy walking distance of bars and restaurants on the quayside. Will be a returning guest .

CChanThis hotel is very close to the train station so the guests can just walk across the street to take the train. The hotel room is nice and big and clean. So, it’s very good for the guest who need to take the train in the early morning or late evening. There’re also many restaurants near the hotel. Also the metro station is just a few steps from the hotel. So the guest can get around the city using the underground metro conveniently.
GGuest UserOne of our favourite hotels. Rooms are looking a little tired now however the service, breakfast and quality of the rooms are excellent. Always have a good night's sleep here!! Looking forward to our next stay
CChucatcatThe location in Newcastle is 10 minutes convenient, you can quickly reach restaurants, shopping malls and the city center without any transportation! If you visit Newcastle, UK again, you will definitely stay here again!
GGuest UserWell what a little gem of a Hotel. Beautiful location right next to the Castle and near the Quayside. We had a lovely stay, the Staff were fantastic! So helpful and polite and friendly and very very professional. We felt very special and looked after. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was lovely. We didn't have any meals there except for breakfast which was tasty and there was plenty of options, the Staff in there again were very lovely and attentive. Saying all this a couple of little niggles the Hotel was so hot! To be fair the weather was beautiful when we were there but there is no air conditioning in the building. I do appreciate it is an older building and it's not always possible to install Air Con Units but a few fans scattered around would have made it a bit more bearable in the public areas . There was a fan provided in our bedroom which was very welcome as the sun facing the windows all day ! We also found the bed not very comfortable, the mattress was too hard for our liking but then this may suit other people so it's not a criticism really of the Hotel more our preference to have a softer mattress.
All in all we Would definitely go back to this hotel but I think I would go in the colder months.
DDebsatcottXmas shopping trip...excellent location for the train station and metro..into town centre.
Breakfast excellent staff very friendly..definitely booking again
IIcykeyGood experience at Sandman Newcastle, location is perfect which is just above the Metro station St James, easy to go around the city, also in a walking distance to the monument easy access to shopping area and many restaurants, staff members are friendly and helpful. Nice restaurant and supermarket in the neighbourhood. The room even equipped with oven and fridge . Recommended strongly
GGuest UserGood location close to Newcastle. Good bar ans resturant on site. Room was large and clean with a good shower. Staff provided a swift check in. Bar prices and food prices we reasonable
RRyan DavidA really lovely place. Made better by the pleasant and helpful staff.
I rang ahead to ask about parking as I was attending an event and the person who answered the phone couldn’t have been more brilliant.
This is the second time I’ve stayed here and I’ll probably continue to now, having been coming up to Newcastle for 10+ years to visit friends this is probably the most pleasant and well priced place I have stayed in.
I really recommend this place. I much preferred staying on the side of the road to where you check in though which would be my only point for the next time I come up.
GGuest UserRoom ok, staff friendly, downstairs is the Blance bar where you have 25% discount on food and drink, the only negative note is the breakfast is not like in the photos and they don't have a coffee machine but a machine that dispenses everything with blends
