Absolutely the place to stay overnight in Nizwa. The original charm and features of the Antique Inn are incredible. Listening to the sunset call to prayer from the sun terrace was a highlight of our visit to Nizwa. The location is excellent - you are a couple of minutes walk from the souq, fort etc. We had booked a room for three people but were given one double room and one single room (next door to each other) on arrival. The allocated bathroom was across the corridor. It is very small inside (all part of the charm) so we packed overnight bags as our main suitcases for the trip would not have fitted/been a real squeeze. Whilst quite basic, it is very clean and full of rustic and historic charm which was the main reason for us staying one night in Nizwa. There are limited dining options in Nizwa so we went with the hotel dinner buffet. Excellent value for 6 OMR pp and there was a great range of food. Breakfast was included and also excellent. There is plenty of parking but recommend ensuring you are in Nizwa prior to sunset as the roads are very narrow if you're in a large car.

The Hotel location is perfect for visiting Nizwa fort and shopping areas. Great Location Near to Nizwa Fort and nearest shopping areas Disliked · No view was allocated in the room, The AC wasn't cool enough, the bed wasn't comfortable

What a totally charming little hotel run by very proud team who are so welcoming. We loved how traditional it was and in a perfect spot - but also the fact it has a pool means you can really relax when you've finished exploring Nizwa. Food was great - you won't go hungry and rooms all air conditioned and clean. Really ideal location and close to everything.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. It was smack bang in the middle of the city, well located to walk to the Souqs, to the Fort and to wander amongst the ruins. The hotel is like being in a museum. Lots of antiquities everywhere, hotel rooms and common rooms and our room, decorated in genuine Omanian style. There were quite narrow and steep stairs to get up to our room, but our room was lovely, spacious, big separate bathroom, small separate lounge and large bedroom. The pool was lovely and much needed as it was very hot. The breakfast included was adequate and tasty. Parking was easy right out the front and the grounds were pretty. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. The only problem we had which we sorted was I hand washed a whole lot of clothing and asked my husband to take it down to reception and ask if there an outdoor area where he could having the wet washing rather than hang it around our room. The man at reception said he would do it. The next day I went to ask where the washing was, and I was presented a large bag of laundered and dried and folded washing and a hefty bill. It had gone to the laundry, and they wanted quite a lot of money for it- too much. As I had not asked for this, and they misunderstood what my husband asked for, and they had then used an outside laundromat, we split the cost of the laundry which was a reasonable and fair solution I thought.

We loved this place, which is in a tastefully restored traditional Omani building right in the heart of the old town of Nizwa just a stone's throw from the fort. Breakfast and dinner are served on the roof terrace. We were there in November, so it wasn't hot, just pleasantly warm and breezy. Overall, the place has a relaxed and friendly feel to it. We especially liked the front patio and indoor lounge with thick carpets and jumbo cushions for hanging out and chatting with the hosts and fellow travelers over complimentary coffee and dates as per local tradition. They put us in touch with a local guide who was very knowledgeable and fun to drive around with, Ibrahim. My one disappointment was that at breakfast they served Wonderbread and not good Omani flatbreads which I would have thought would be easy enough to source locally. Tip: If you want the full traditional experience, ask for a room in the main building (shared bathroom, I believe) and not the pool suites. The latter are perfectly comfortable, but they are modern-style outbuildings set around the pool. The straw wall covers, exterior astro-turf and multi-color pool lighting give that part of the complex a distinctive north Florida feel. We got a pick-up from Muscat Airport, so we didn't have to find our way, but it seems to be well hidden.

So the hotel is a little strangle. Cant say that the hotel rooms like l, we stayed in the room with pool access. Only 4 of these on site, and depending on the month of visit it’s great to walk from you room to the pool in about 20 steps. Down side. the local staff who use the pool area as a hiding place from the management. And the hotel in general is lacking in a bit of TLC, but the staff are friendly and like everyone in Oman very helpful. The hotel it’s in the centre , mins walks from the souq’s and one of Omans most impressive fronts. The was clean, and the AC worked. The position of the hotel worked for us, Right in the middle of everywhere,

This place is a joke and very misleading. True that it is a historical site, but the room is tiny, not what is sold online. It is half of what they say you will get for the price you pay. The Omani hospitality is ZERO in this place. You arrive and they don’t offer you anything, not even a smile! The Arabic receptionist is trying to sell you from the dinner buffet to other excursions but he does not focus on any customer service. If you don’t buy anything of what he offers, his mood changes automatically. He becomes not nice and he abruptly finishes the conversation. We got the buffet for dinner, from 19:30 to 21:00. It was 6 OR per person. We went to eat at 19:45 and ALL FOOD WAS COLD. The quality is good but everything is cold. He said the buffet was a typical Arabic food, from Greek salad to chicken tikka and pizza… Same case scenario with the breakfast, it is cold. I must say this is the third hotel I have been in Oman, and never ever anyone has been so rude and the room so small. Avoid for the amount of money you pay and what you get. Apart for the location and the views, it is not worth it.

We only stayed for one night fortunately. It‘s ok, but for the charged price I‘ve seen much better. I guess it‘s because Nizwa is such a Tourist Spot. Our room was below the restaurant, so be aware that you hear the chairs moving and people chatting. Breakfast was interesting, with 4 warm options, a bit of joghurt, bread and some fruit. We didn‘t like it much. Except for the bread.

If you want 5 star luxury then the Antique Inn is not for you, if you want low cost, friendly and authentic then book here. The Antique Inn is in the centre of Old Nizwa about 2 minutes walk from the Soux. The pool overlooks the crumbling walls of the old village and the roof top restaurant looks out over the fort. I say restaurant, there is only a buffet and no waiter service and no bar, even for soft drinks (there is a fridge with some cokes or 7ups) but it doesn't matter and in fact the hotel is better for it. Don't come here for your 2 week summer holiday but use it as a base to explore the area. We were offered the Golden Tulip Hotel as part of our itinerary but its about 25 minutes out of town and in the middle of nowhere. The Antique Inn has no lift, some of the rooms have no bathrooms, you have to walk across the corridor to your private bathroom, but I thinks it's the best hotel in Nizwa.
