Waldorf Astoria Osaka

This hotel is touted as Osaka's number one, but it feels a bit disconnected. If you call it bad, there are always some things you like. If you call it good, there are always some things that can disappoint you. Let's start with the good: 1. Location: Between Osaka Station and Umeda Station, it overlooks the entire Umeda shopping district, making it convenient for shopping, dining, and transportation. 2. Large beds. Each twin bed is 1.5 meters long, making it the largest twin room in Japan, making it perfect for families with children. 3. Service: My daughter was over 12 when I checked in, so according to policy, we needed an extra bed. Ctrip helped us waive the hefty extra bed fee. Throughout the hotel, every staff member I encountered was greeted with a smile (except for a Japanese man who was taking breakfast orders). When I asked for more water in my room, the waiter brought two large bags of it. Now that I've covered the pros, let's move on to the cons: 1. Location. While conveniently located in the Umeda business district, anyone who's been there will likely remember the densely packed streets and convoluted traffic flow. It's easy to get lost, and you'll be constantly switching between the first floor, second floor, and basement level. If you're pushing a stroller or wheelchair, you'll be constantly searching for the elevator. The road in front of the hotel is closed for construction, so getting a taxi can be a long, winding road. 2. Breakfast. This is the hotel's biggest complaint. This isn't the first time I've stayed at a hotel with a made-to-order breakfast system. The Bulgari in Beijing and the Capella in Shanghai all have this approach, as does the Marufukuro in Kyoto, where they generally try their best to accommodate guests' requests. The Waldorf Astoria Osaka is known for its stinginess. The menu is limited to begin with, and you can't choose multiple items from the same category, nor can you change them. I ordered a sausage, but it never arrived. When the waiter brought one on a large plate, it was a tiny sausage, a truly desolate and beautiful sight. I especially want to point out the Japanese man who took our order on the first morning. He had a stern face the entire time, as if he owed me money. 3. There's no Chinese service at the front desk. Breakfast is the peak time for guests, and when we arrived, I saw about 80% of them were Chinese. With such a high concentration of Chinese people, there's no need for Chinese service. Just when I thought this hotel didn't care about the Chinese market, I encountered another Chinese staff member at the front desk during check-out that morning.

There seemed to be a lot of people tending to the room, but the cleaning was sloppy. As soon as I got into bed, I could smell the dust mites, and my nose immediately felt stuffy. No matter how much I massaged them, they would not bother me and would ignore me before entering the room. I called the front desk and asked if they could have a masseuse come to my room. They said no, I'd be downstairs another day. I asked the front desk to call the massage parlor to make a reservation, and they said they could send two masseuses to my room at 10 p.m.
