GGuest UserStaying at Mukelan hotel was such a special experience for our family. Nestled on the side of a tea mountain that faced a nearby village, it felt like we were suspended in the clouds and could truly unwind and slowly enjoy the peaceful, beautiful scenery all around us.
A major reason our stay was so memorable was the staff. The staff, from the manager, to the driver, cleaners, cook, and tea connoisseur, made us feel truly welcome and well taken care of. Upon arrival to Xishuangbanna train station, we were picked up in a Mercedes-Benz van with leather seats and slippers to change into. When the hotel happened to be less busy for a couple days, the very thoughtful manager and tea connoisseur arranged an impromptu day trip for us based on our preferences. At the hotel, we loved the daily tea drinking sessions, where the wonderful connoisseur taught us many new things about pu’er tea, the star commodity of the region. We also made pu’er tea cakes, played mahjong, and enjoyed daily hikes on the secluded mountain trails.
If you’re looking to get away from the city and unwind in a beautiful place where you can finally hear yourself think, I could not recommend Mukelan hotel highly enough! You’ll be so happy you stayed here.

GGuest UserA guesthouse is not just a simple space; it's more about embodying a lifestyle, cultural creativity, and the aesthetics of life… At Auntie's house, I experienced the simple and honest culture of the local people and the long history of tea cultivation. It was a truly memorable trip. On our first day, it was drizzling. Auntie explained that winter in the tea mountains is the dry season, and it hadn't rained for a month. This was the first spring rain, and we witnessed a sea of clouds slowly rising from the mountains. That evening, we drank Pu'er tea made by Auntie and received a souvenir containing ancient tree Pu'er tea she had made. The tea trees here are very old, mostly over a hundred years old, covered in moss and parasitic plants. Tea pickers have to climb these ancient, tall trees to harvest the fresh buds and leaves. I'm very grateful to Auntie for such a precious gift. After having a local breakfast of rice noodles, we spent the morning in the ancient tea garden. At an altitude of 1800 meters, the mornings were cool and the sun was pleasant. The animals here are very free; chickens, pigs, cows, and dogs roamed the tea plantations with us, creating a harmonious atmosphere. I strolled around the village; it was very primitive and rustic. In the afternoon, I saw an incredibly healing sunset. The experience here was completely different from the guesthouses in the city. I was hosted by the auntie herself, and her family was very kind and warm. There were no waiters, and even the animals were free and content. It felt like being isolated from the world, perfect for city dwellers like us to relax. It was truly a very relaxing experience and trip.

CCafe TantoneThis was, hands down, one of the most amazing inn/hotel experiences I've ever had in my life. From the stunning property, to the gorgeous surrounding scenery, to the family-like hospitality of the hosts, to the level of culture and beauty packed in the whole experience, it was incredible. The inn is almost like a mini ”homemade” version of a boutique hotel property like Aman, and the decor is stunning. One of the highlights for me was simply being able to drink tea in multiple tea ceremonies with the owner and housekeeper, sitting at a beautiful large Chinese Mahogany table and watching the process unfold. The teas grown on the property are simply fantastic. Beyond that, the inn offers not only comfortable accommodations to rest and chill out, but also fun activities such as partaking in the tea-making process, visiting local coffee farms, hiking down the ridge, and dining in local restaurants. Simply put, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended. I miss it already.

GGuest UserWhere do I start? What an incredible hotel and great hospitality especially from 小姚 in the bar. We wanted espresso martinis, which were off menu, and he learnt very quickly how to make a tasty espresso martini. The hotel provides lovely amenities and daily activities. The swimming pool is a real photo opportunity as it’s an infinity pool and you are surrounded by beautiful scenery. The bar has the best views and very chilled. Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable and free dessert was offered on the first night.

GGuest UserTruly a ”miraculous and ideal paradise.” The Mengbala Ruihe Hotel is quiet and clean, and I received a complimentary upgrade to a lake-view room.
These past few days, close to the start of autumn, have perfectly captured two lines from Liu Yuxi's poem: ”Since ancient times, autumn has been associated with sorrow and desolation, but I say that autumn days surpass spring mornings.” Nearby amenities include a golf course, lakeside facilities, tent camping sites, a children's playground, and hot springs. A great vacation spot. I'm already in love! 😍 The price is truly excellent value! [Strong][Strong][Strong]

GGuest UserSTRONG ADVOCATES! Stunning experience with a Bulang family. We stayed in the quaint guesthouse in the standalone suite with two double bed rooms and a sweet balcony and tea table. The design is soothing and surrounding nature is a welcomed change for city dwellers. That said, one has to be ready for this proximity to nature (mosquito repellent and ear plugs for early rooster crows).
It was the perfect start to our exploration in Yunnan as the host and her brother’s family took us under their wing to show us the tea plantation, roasting, and how to appreciate the local teas. This truly was a most beautiful experience of the warmest hospitality and such vivid insights about the community and stories of development that has been experienced. We learnt so much about the tea varieties and traditions here, giving us anthropological insights and inspiring stories of resilience and growth. The village is well sized for walking around to the tea plantation, temple, cultural museum, and sunset lookout. Do give yourself a couple of days here at least.

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in Shitoulaozhai, Gelanghe Township, Menghai County, near the Nannuo Mountain Bama Village Office. Situated on a mountain, the environment is indeed beautiful; you can see the clouds and mist in the morning and the sunset in the evening. There aren't many guests at the moment, and the hotel is managed by a young, attractive woman. The hotel is quite clean; there's no air conditioning, but there are electric blankets and electric heaters, which are sufficient for heating needs. The temperature is low on the mountain, and it can get quite cold sitting for a long time, but you'll still sweat when you walk around.

JJoyINgdalianmaoThis most expensive room is the one with the worst lighting in the hotel facilities. Daguida has nothing to do with it. The bathtub is easy to wet outside. The tile floor is matched with yellow-painted walls and the wood looks very cheap. The narrow wall kitchen cannot be used at all. It is really not as good as the inn before. There is no partition wall between rain and toilet. The glass door does not have frosted stickers.
The door is facing the aisle, next to the bed, and I feel that all kinds of people can see the room uncomfortable when they walk by. In such a large space, would it be better to put a sofa in front of the bed, otherwise it would be so big to lay a picnic mat for me?
We looked at other rooms in the morning, they were better than this room, this room was not transparent and had no lighting, it was really depressed.
Can it be improved, and the recommended price is lower than other rooms.

LLY兜啊兜The boss is very good, sing to the guests to help, and explain the culture of the ethnic minorities in Yunnan. The sister who helped is the Yi nationality. The boss is enthusiastic to show the way to the tea king tree path, saving a kilometer of distance. When there are few people, you may still eat the barbecue grilled by the boss himself. Hahahaha, a very happy homestay experience!
