Alor Setar Hotels with Parking

I will definitely come here again. It was the best decision ever to stay here because the room complete with 4 pillows, superb king bed, smart TV and Young Living aroma. My room does have the balcony and enjoy watching the road scene.

I chose this hotel because the rooms are quite spacious and there's ample parking. The only minor inconvenience is that if you're coming and going during school dismissal times, you'll need a little extra patience. The front desk service was also very good; every time we passed by, we'd exchange glances and get a big smile 😊

the room was clean.the aircond is good.we didnt see much the t.v but it was working fine.the bed was comfortable.but if extra pillow would be better as they only provided 2 pillow.the reception was polite and helpful.the location very near 2 min away from Alor Setar Mall.from city centre a bit away maybe 10minutes but it is o.k as we rent a car.it was quiet at night so you can get a peaceful sleep.there is iron outside the room.the wifi is o.k but not too strong.the room quite small for 2 person but o.k for us as we only sleep for a night.overall is good and sure we can repeat the hotel if come again to Alor Setar.

We had a wonderful stay at Star City Hotel for Hari Raya! As always, we look forward to staying here whenever we visit our hometown. The hotel is comfortable, convenient, and the staff are friendly. This time, our studio was very close to the air-conditioning compressor, which was quite loud – as a light sleeper, it made sleeping a bit difficult. We did request a room change, but due to the busy Raya period, no rooms were available, which we completely understand. Overall, still a great experience and we will definitely return!

Hotel is just 5 minutes walk to Pekan Rabu, and close to eateries, which is a plus. Room was ok, but furniture and fittings were outdated and worn out from age. Staff was friendly and helpful. Please note that the hotel does not provide toothpaste and toothbrush, so bring your own. Strangely, Coffee, tea and sugar were placed inside the fridge, and small ants were probably the reason. The wardrobe door was a bit hard to open and required a bit of an effort. Breakfast was okay, I tried the omelette for 2 mornings and was bland, but the spread was enough for me, although they could vary it daily. Based on the above, for the price, it could be lower.

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Everything was good, from the clean and comfortable room to the overall facilities. The location is excellent, right in the city center, making it very convenient to travel anywhere. There are plenty of shops, attractions, and restaurants nearby. In particular, there is a fantastic restaurant within walking distance that serves delicious food. The front desk staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help with a smile. Their excellent service made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, this hotel offers great value for money, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The location is strategic. you can find food within 5 min walking. Shopping at Central Mall; 10 min walk.. you can find all the food you need along the way or just find something at the mall. The room cleanliness is acceptable, but don't expect too much from this old hotel. Still value for money. Bath tube can do without, it make the bathroom seems old.. a redo will be good. Breakfast is included and again don't expect too much.. but have to say the sambal for the nasi lemak is superb.

The hotel was okay, but the toilet flushed very poorly. The water pressure in the shower was weak. The bedding didn't seem fresh, so we asked for the sheets and pillowcases to be changed, and they did it. There's a pool at the hotel, but it was full of kids (maybe a sports group), all wearing swim caps. We decided not to swim with them.

Initially, we came to Alor Setar for a day trip, not planning to stay overnight. We couldn't make it back in time, so we booked through Trip. The day we arrived was during Eid al-Fitr, so it was very crowded. We saw this hotel had a reasonable price, but didn't realize it was self-check-in. It was late in the evening, and we were exhausted from taking the bus to the hotel. The first thing that shocked us was that it was self-check-in. As a Thai person who can speak a little Malay, I felt like I was in trouble. I had booked a room, but how was I going to check in? I also needed to use the restroom, so I walked to a convenience store and asked if there was a restroom at a clinic. I managed to get through that, and then went back to check in, but it was impossible. I tried calling, but no one answered. Luckily, a Malaysian person of Chinese descent helped us. They helped us contact someone, and that's how we got into our room. If it weren't for that Malaysian person, how would we have gotten in? We had already paid. Once inside, the room didn't have many amenities: air conditioning, a TV, two bottles of water, tissues, and a towel. The room was clean, but there was some noise disturbance. It was good that during check-out, I messaged them saying I wanted to check in a little late because I was afraid I wouldn't make it out by noon. Finally, after trying to call, I got my $50 deposit back. There's also a $10 tourist tax here. Here's what I would recommend to the hotel: 1. If you are looking for a self-check-in service... 1. You should mention on the cover of the trip that it's self-check-in, because sometimes customers don't read it or confirm that they want self-check-in. 2. Since it's self-check-in, it should be priced affordably. We went to Penang last year and the reception staff were excellent. We just handed over our passports and checked in immediately, it was fast. The facilities were more extensive, it was closer to more tourist attractions, and the price was cheaper. 3. The check-in kiosks should have other languages ​​besides English, Malay, and Chinese. Thai should be included because Thailand is close to Malaysia. 4. There should be an emergency button to contact staff, indicating how long the waiting time should be. I also recommend having restroom facilities for guests. 5. There should be signs guiding the check-in process in steps (1, 2, 3, 4). P.S. For tourists, hotels are a service industry. There should be at least one staff member on duty to provide assistance in case of emergencies. We understand that hotels want to save on staffing costs, so they have to cut corners in this area. However, for a hotel to be a service industry, safety is paramount. For us, we are grateful for this incident, as it has taught us to improve our language skills—not just spoken language, but readable language—because the world is changing. However, having staff is still reassuring.
