Very convenient location, a few minutes walk from shops and restaurants and the lake. Spacious room and comfortable bed. The terrasse was a plus as we could sit outside. Car park free just outside the door which was super convenient too.

Guest UserWe spent one night, having driven down from Wanaka and intending to continue to the Milford Sound tour the following day. Donna was very welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed and were comfortable. The history of the building was fascinating, and the antique decor and trinkets added to the charm. Breakfast the following morning was great- wonderful scrambled eggs. Thank you!

ChengKiatThe staff are generally friendly however the service is not up to expectation. We are suppose to checkin at 2/3pm, and had a confirmation called from the hotel in the morning. However, when I arrived at 4pm, I was told that it’s not ready and they need till 5:30pm to have the room ready. The place was under renovation and it’s messy and dusty, but the room is nice and clean. Overall it’s good with nice view.

Located on the shores of Lake Te Anau, this hotel has 14 rooms.
It's a luxury hotel apartment, or more accurately, a high-end motel. Originating in California, USA, it gained popularity with the rise of road trips, similar to American motels, European hostels or inns, and British B&Bs.
In New Zealand, any accommodation where parking is connected to the room falls into this category. This one is adjacent to the lakeside trail, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and water. It's newly renovated and well-equipped, with a two-bedroom room particularly suitable for a family of three. However, compared to similarly priced five-star hotels, the service is less refined.
A two-day stay, my first experience with a motel. It's neither the detached atmosphere of Edward Hopper's paintings, nor the ambiguity of Wim Wenders' writings, nor the gloom of *** Talese's shadows. Simply put, it's a clean and simple place to stay. Overall, it's a good place to stay in the town of Te Anau.
One more thing: the rooms on the first floor are next to the parking lot, so privacy isn't ideal; the second floor is better. However, the first and second floors are randomly assigned upon arrival. Even if you booked the second floor through Ctrip, you may still be assigned to the first floor upon check-in. This was the problem I encountered on this trip.

This hotel was a perfect place to stay the night before heading to Milford Sound.
The owner is Chinese, and in the quiet town of Te Anau, he felt incredibly friendly.
We departed from Queenstown that evening and arrived after our 8 PM check-in time. After contacting Ctrip customer service, the front desk responded quickly. Upon arrival, the owner had thoughtfully printed a note on the desk, and the room was immaculately clean.
The drive to the sound takes two hours, and there's a self-service gas station nearby, making it very convenient for refueling before departure and back in Queenstown. Overall, the stay was excellent.

I would have given this a 5-star rating. However, I deducted one star due to staff behaviour and a fire alarm that went off at 5:00 a.m., requiring guests to evacuate the hotel.
Additionally, the staff could benefit from some customer service training, particularly in showing warmth and empathy toward guests. When we visited the front desk at 12:30 p.m. to enquire about an early check-in, the staff member was not at all understanding or accommodating. She bluntly say “No” and kept looking at her monitor without any reason.

The family room's beds, I believe both are two 0.9m beds pushed together, which made them quite large. Parking right outside the room was very convenient. The bathroom was spacious, but a bit empty; it would be better with some hooks. The shower gel and shampoo were in individual bottles, and should have been placed on a caddy in the shower, rather than under the sink. My child didn't even notice them and just rinsed with hot water. It would be even more convenient if there was an additional sink at the mini-bar counter. It's only a ten-minute walk to the Firefly Cave jetty, and about eight minutes to nearby restaurants, which is very handy. VILLAGE INN also has its own restaurant, but we arrived late at 7 PM on New Year's Eve, and they couldn't accommodate us. We were also rushing to catch the 8:15 PM Firefly Cave boat, so we didn't get to eat there.

Lovely warm clean comfortable motel. Fantastic shower and lots warm bedding. Just a teeny disappointed we didn’t see any staff or management our entire stay of three nights. Obviously staffing shortages in the area but would have appreciated a friendly face at some stage.

The door lock to the bathroom is not working. Light in bathroom is flickering. Need some maintenance. But good thing is it is very clean despite the old hotel. Location is good too.

There is basically no service in foreign hotels. No one at the front desk left the key in the envelope and searched for it for a while. It would be better to specify the method of collecting the key when booking, especially on rainy days.
