Large complex with several pools and dining options, though some amenities not available due to covid. Generally helpful and kind staff, one gentleman at the concierge wasn't the best but the manager was great! The beach had lots of space, places to sit and staff available for beverage service. Overall a nice place to stay!

3 stars at best Me and my partner are staying a week at this ”all inclusive” property, which is unfortunately not as it seems. We were advertised on TUI that the Hotel has 9 restaurants and 12 bars but good luck eating at any of them as your choices are extremely limited. Additionally we booked the El Beso property which is the adults only . You think this would be a way from the Hussle and bussle and have a private section and amenities but no. There is just a few rooms about 20ft away from the rest of the resort. With 1 adult only restaurant which isn't open every day of the week. There are 3 restaurants you have to make reservations at. 1 other restaurant is completely closed other restaurants are closed 3 days a week... The most ridiculous thing as well if you are only staying 7 days you can't make more than 1 reservation at the fine dining restaurants in 7 days. So realistically you have the choice of 4 restaurants. That's not all inclusive. The buffet was cold, the food was very disappointing. Drinks are good and service is fast. Maybe you have to be drunk to enjoy it. The room is dated but it does look like the photos. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is clean. I couldn't fault the room or staff. However we have found the property leaves much to be desired and certainly is not 5 star as we were sold it. Maybe 20 years ago. Certainly a solid 3 star resort.

Another great vacation at Grand Velas Riviera Maya. Once again, our lovely buttler CAROLINA took care of everything for us, and particularly all the attentions for the birthday of my wife. CAROLINA is professional, efficient, and always happy. Special thanks to the CAFE AMAT STAFF, all the girls are so kind, and AZUL STAFF, particularly LUCINA, and YAZMIN at the ADULT POOL. And finally, we have really appreciated all the attention the STAFF and the CHEF of LUCA had for us for our last dinner. Muchas Gracias!!

We recently stayed at the Rosewood Mayakoba for 8 nights. I struggled with the rating but decided it's average for this price class (which is more like European pricing than Mexico pricing). I would say 3.5, but I am going to round it up because the individuals working here are very nice. We had some hiccups which would prevent us from coming again at this price point, which I'll share below. But first, here are the things I really loved: - The setting is beautiful, truly a breathtaking area - We loved being able to bike around - The property is well-staffed and feels extremely safe - They have trained hawks at the pool to scare away the birds - Our son loved the kids club! - At one point did get sick and they sent a doctor within 30 minutes. It cost $100. She wrote me an Rx and the hotel went and picked it up and delivered it to the room. I felt very taking care of. - Having a hotel greeter and ride to the resort was really helpful. This was an extra cost, but well worth it - The welcome cookies are the best cookies I've ever had! - The wildlife is really fun. We saw monkeys, iguanas, coati, and more! We had two rooms (one beachfront studio suite and one deluxe lagoon suite). Despite the beachfront studio suite being $1K more per night than the deluxe lagoon suite, it was not as nice. The room (520) had more wear and tear (perhaps because of its proximity to the beach), the outdoor furniture was ratty, and there was a pretty big staircase up to the front door. Plus, the view was not really of the beach -- it was of the rooftops of the beach-front villas (you could see the ocean beyond that). We decided to downgrade to a deluxe lagoon suite (315) which was larger and newer. Despite it being a downgrade in terms of pricing ($1k/night less), we were not compensated for the difference. I would personally recommend either splurging on the beachfront villa OR the deluxe lagoon suite. Beyond this, we did have a few kinks in our stay that make this resort a notch below a 5-star experience: - The website is misleading and needs to be updated. On the individual room class page, it says the ”terms and conditions” which include free airport transfer, daily breakfast, etc. However, these are only the terms and conditions for the villas. They should only include the T&C for the room class that is on the page. - Our keys didn't work when we went back to the room on the first day - They gave the kids water bottles, but they were used with other kids names on them - The food is hit or miss. We did enjoy the variety and being able to go to other restaurants in Mayakoba. - If you have young kids, beware of things keeping them up at night. One night they were cleaning the unit below us at 10PM. And on our last night (the night before a 5AM departure to the airport) there was loud music from a wedding until 11:15PM. - It's really hard to get a boat to go anywhere. The resort was wonderful. Restaurants excellent. Clean many options for swimming and eating . Staff went above and beyond. My only complaint is there are no laundry facilities. All your laundry must be sent out and the cost is prohibitive.

Where do I start! I booked this hotel based on the good reviews! On arrival at the hotel I was told check in want until 3, and the room wasn’t ready. I had no issues with this as per the check in details. I was told to place my luggage in an insecure room and I wandered up to the pool area, which seemed lovely on first impressions. I wandered out of the hotel and grabbed some lunch to return at the check in time. On returning to the hotel, there were three guests together clearly having check in issues and were refused a key card each. We checked in and was given a key card for room 010 with no explanation, the member of staff could not speak any English and the security guard pointed in the direction. I had booked a suite. This was the best accommodation on offer. What I was greeted with was vastly different. It was dark, smelt musty, the bedroom was on an internal corridor with no natural light, the terrace overlooked reception and you could hear everything. The bed linen was stained and covered in hairs with the audacity of a note saying charges would be incurred for any stains. We immediately complained and the receptionist was clueless and unable to help and couldn’t understand us. A member of staff from the tour table assisted and we were informed that there were no alternatives until tomorrow. Although we weren’t convinced by this. We didn’t unpack and went to the pool area and after having to request pool towels which were old and stained we ventured up. The pool area wasn’t busy and beds available, although the beds were old and d falling apart and only 8 in total. You had to arrange your own umbrellas which were a mish mash and some broken. Sophia at the pool was lovely and obliged during happy hour. We were informed that the hotel had recently been taken over and the pool bar had separate owners. The next day we attended reception at the requested time and we asked to views before moving, this caused some issues and they agreed. The room was 101 and was much better in comparison, although basic furniture and the bathroom was dirty but the linen was cleaner and the bed wasn’t broken like in the first room. The standard of cleaning was poor and staff would often have small children in the bottom of the cleaning trolleys whilst working. The pool towels were never changed and it was hit and Miss whether you got enough towels in the bathroom, along with toilet roll and without telephones in the room you had to visit reception. There was no hairdryer and water only given on first day.we did laugh when a note was next to say we owned mo way for stained items. I was ready for an argument on check out but it never happened and no money was requested. The hotel is in a good location for 5tb Avenue and has the potential to be so much better

Location is great. Checkin was easy. Rooms are spacious with a little kitchenette (stove cooktop & microwave) but there’s no dishes or utensils to cook. Decent coffee/tea setup. Nice robes. Medium sized fridge with freezer section. City view rooms do not have balconies and face street with view of ice cream shop and laundromat. Pool is warm & pool towels available. 1 block from the busy street and 2 blocks from beach. There’s a bar with a pool table, foosball, and darts where happy hour was offered for an hour daily. BREAKFAST WAS NOT WORTH WAKING EARLY FOR. Very limited options and was cold. Also after checking our reservation at the breakfast restaurant they were insisting we pay for it when we paid for it with the reservation. Also felt the breakfast staff were a bit rude when I tried asking for details on the station others were lining up for reminding me of things that were included or not.

Stayed for 2 weeks at the end of September, our first visit to Mexico and had a great time. When we arrived at the hotel we got a welcome drink and the staff on the front desk were friendly and gave us our keys and the cards to collect our pool towels. The bedroom was spotlessly clean, very spacious, a well-stocked mini bar, and plenty of towels to use in the bathroom. The safe was free to use and also in the bedroom was an umbrella and an iron and ironing board. The balcony had plenty of room to sit out and a small drying rack which would have been better if it was slightly bigger as you cannot hang anything over the balcony. The pool area was large, the pool to the right of the bar was the noisier pool as that's where the activities took place however if you don't want to join in and have a quieter holiday then the pool to the left is far enough away. The staff from the bar come around the pool taking your orders and also come around with a trolley to make your drinks at your sunbed. The first week we were there you could go down later and get a sunbed, however the second week people seemed to put their towels on very early and we found there was a party of about 18 that put towels on but very rarely actually used the beds, so we had to get up early to get a bed which wasn't really a bad thing as we got the early morning sun before it got too hot. All the staff were very friendly, and the entertainment team were great a big shout out to Mauricio (hope that's how you spell it) as he always had a smile on his face and was definitely born for the job. The evening entertainment is good we also visited the Riu Tequilla at night especially on the Friday nights for neon night and white night which were fantastic and worth a visit. The food was excellent and always plenty of choice, wine and prosecco was always flowing with lunch and the evening meal and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you didn't want to go in for lunch then there is Pepes who does burgers, hotdogs, salad etc that you can sit on your sunbed and eat. We had great holiday and will definitely be returning.
