Tyn Yard Residence

PROS 2 minutes walk from the main square with the astronomical clock. Huge room, enormous beds, stylish, beautiful old room and furnishings (but not tatty or dirty). Functional and working bathroom with shower, bath, toilet with paper and bidet, very clean. Fantastic breakfast. Windows open onto a pleasant square with restaurants, which creates a cozy atmosphere. And if you want to sleep early, you can close the double windows and hear virtually nothing from outside. The owner and receptionist speak good English. You can check out before 11:00 by simply leaving your key in the room and closing the door behind you. DISADVANTAGES No permanent reception; you must make a telephone appointment to check in. You can drop your bags earlier at a restaurant across the street. They put it in a locked room so it is safe. But the 'we'll see when we arrive' in the afternoon is a bit difficult. You only get one set of keys and the door to the room locks automatically. So you have to be very careful that you have the key with you when you go out and 2 people cannot leave the door independently of each other if you don't know who will be back first. And if something goes wrong with the keys, there is no reception to help you. Breakfast, although fantastic provided by a restaurant across the street, does not start until 9:00. That is too late for the early birds who want to get into the city early to avoid the crowds and the heat. CONCLUSION We would definitely come again, if necessary without skipping breakfast. The location, the room, the nice owner and receptionist, and the reasonable price more than make up for the negatives.

Chosen for its certainly very advantageous position and because it claimed to be 4 stars, it later revealed itself to be a sort of B&B with little or no services: breakfast served in an EXTERNAL location, even if nearby, starting FROM 9.00 in the morning by staff who were anything but friendly; on 3 nights, cleaning was NEVER done: bed (uncomfortable: mattress that sinks into) left unmade, dirty towels not changed; after check-in (which basically has to be done BY APPOINTMENT), you are given the keys to the room and the external door and you are COMPLETELY ABANDONED: there is no one left in the structure to contact in case of need, but you have to call on your cell phone (not they always respond promptly) or write an email or text message (to which they don't respond promptly): I realized on the evening of check-in that the safe had been left closed - therefore unusable - and, not being able to ask anyone on site, I had to send an email for support and wait until the next evening for the matter to be sorted out (key to the safe left on the desk); same thing for the use of the TV, not entirely immediate, despite carefully following the instructions that are left on a sheet of paper in the room; I also wondered how much time I would have to waste waiting for someone to intervene if, unfortunately, I closed the door of the room and left the keys inside (it can happen!). Very bad experience. Dishonest in not mentioning certain aspects of the (non)service in the description. Definitely not a 4 star.

Habíamos pagado dos habitaciones dobles para 4 días y nos encontramos, a la llegada , en la madrugada del 27 al 28 de febrero de 2024, EN LA CALLE, con la recepción cerrada y cuando nuestra agencia contactó con ellos se negaron a abrirnos. Tuvimos que alquilar otro hotel y a las 15 horas del 28 de febrero pudimos entrar en el Tyn Yard Residencie. El hotel no esta mal, pero la Tv no funciona en ninguna de las dos habitaciones, existen bombillas fundidas y la limpieza diaria de las habitaciones se limita a pone toallas encima de las camas que NO hacen. La recepción se abre unas dos horas diarias e incluso se negaron a guardar nuestras maletas el día.
