We had an unfortunate experience we had on Sunday, October 20th, 2024. My family of six, who frequently travel together, decided to stop by Dalvay for lunch based on a recommendation. Upon entering the lobby, we were greeted by a young gentleman who seemed unfriendly and immediately questioned our presence at the hotel. When we asked to see the menu, he first told us there were only sandwiches, and then informed us there was no food available at all. I've actually never experienced anything like this, and it was quite shocking. It was all unfortunate and disappointing.

We spent a couple nights a Dalvay By The Sea in early October. We were warmly welcomed by the front desk clerk who also showed us to our room. The room was adequate keeping in mind it was a historic structure. We enjoyed sitting in the library in front of the fireplace (the fire was tended regularly and added wonderful warmth and ambiance to the room!) playing cards after a day of exploring and enjoying PEI. We were there during a quiet period towards the end of the season. The staff, especially the dining room staff (Cassidy and Ella?) took their time to chat and visit with guests- in a sincere and welcoming manner. Cudos ladies and good luck in your careers in medicine!!! We highly recommend the Dalvay as a base for your PEI adventures!!

This is a historic property on Parks Canada land. The rooms are not furnished with to, coffee/tea making facilities but that’s not why you stay. The building is well preserved and it’s furnished appropriately. Makes you feel you have stepped back in time. The area is amazing, beautiful beaches within walking distance of the main house. The food in the restaurant was gorgeous especially in the best seats in the house😁 although all seats have a view. A bit pricey but to be expected and not extortionate

Dalvay by the sea was an extremely disappointing start to our first trip to beautiful PEI . Outside views are very deceiving . Not recommended until the place undergoes a complete renovation . Rooms are tired , questionable cleanliness , furnishing looks like it’s from thrift store , or roadside giveaways . Even antiques furnishings & rooms can be beautifully restored .

We had stayed at the Inn 25 years ago and I must say that it has not lost any of its wonderful charm. The rooms are exceptional and very comfortable but I would caution anyone with physical limitations to secure a room on the first floor or second as there is no elevator. The restaurant lived up to its reputation regarding quality and originality of the menu. If you like Baked Alaska be sure and reserve one with your reservation as they tend to run out. It was. Very civilized experience.

I read some reviews that said Dalvay was outdated and needed renovating. It’s an historic national landmark! It’s supposed to feel like you are in a past time and that’s the charm. Having an ocean breeze cool me through the window in the dining room is much more preferable to industrial AC. And the chef is highly talented and all the staff very well trained to make you feel like royalty. You cross the street and you are at the ocean. You rent a bicycle on location and cruise the coast line. Bottom line, it was the highlight of our PEI stay.

We spent three nights at this historic former private mansion-turned seaside hotel. You can feel its past the moment you step up onto the wraparound deck and into the lobby. There, among the friendliest staff you’ll ever meet, are there to maximize the experience. Each room is unique, with every surface covered in wood. The beach is about 100 yards north and stretches for as far as the eye can see. It has a modern restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served. While the hotel is on the expensive side, after three weeks of cheap motels we decided to splurge…and are glad we did. Memories were made here

Beautiful old hotel with multiple fireplaces and wood paneling. Everything updated. Had a very nice room on the second floor. Restaurant was excellent. Had the best seafood chowder of our 10-day trip through New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia. Situated on a large piece of land with no nearby houses. Large grass lawn on approach and an adjacent lake. Nearby beach walks. Several towns with good restaurants and activities, including the Anne of Green Gables house, to the West.

The staff at this property are truly outstanding. They are incredible hosts, their customer service is phenomenal. From check in to dining to drinks in the Library, everything is perfect. They ensure you are comfortable, completely taken care of and happy with your stay and meals. I can't wait to return next year !

Our drive along the road took us past the Dalvay, so we were curious and stayed for the night. The inn is classic and full of ambiance. We found, at the end of the season, wood fires in several sitting areas. That was very welcome to gather around to make new friends and warm-up. The staff was more than helpful and shared stories about the inn and area. We didn't see an elevator, so steps are a bit hard if you have a handicap, or are traveling with someone who is.

This inn was built in the 1800s, not I'm not sure what some people expect... but what they can expect based on my experience is a wonderful couple nights stay in a cozy room and smell of wood burning fireplaces. This is an old building thats only 3 floors and very cozy feel to it. There are no tvs, no modern gadgets that would take you away from enjoying this historic building. If you want a coffee maker and a microwave in a room, there is a holiday inn express somewhere on the island. I very much enjoyed the stay at this place, the food is great, the staff is wonderful and the tranquil atmosphere inside and outside is special. Not many places out there you can enjoy a coffee in the main lounge by the fire place in the morning or nice glass of wine at night while enjoying a nice conversation with strangers by the fireplace. Very relaxed place.

We were so disappointed with the hotel. It is tired and needs to be upgraded. There is no tv, telephone or radio in the room. Space AC units on the floor take up so much room . There is no central AC. We stayed 2 nights and the morning we left we saw and killed a Vick roach in our bathroom. When we checked out, we informed the woman behind front desk asking her to please inform management. They did not appear to think this was a big deal. The only good thing I can say about the hotel is the restaurant is lovely and serves delicious food. Enjoy a meal here but do not waste your money on a pricey room that.

The position of this hotel is beautiful (although you do need a car or a bike unless you're going to be a captive audience). Once you get beyond the impressive communal and external areas, however, it's a bit 'fur coat and no knickers'. The room we had was small, ducts were held together with masking tape, the portable aircon unit was imposing and too loud to use. There was little storage space (couldn't open one of the wardrobe doors as the bedside table was in the way), the windows and screens were filthy and we found a lump of discarded chewing gum on the carpet! The breakfast was laughable. Bread for toasting yourself, no butter, three choices of cereal, Greek yogurt and flasks of coffee and not much else! Dinner was OK, but when you're spending well over $200 on 2 courses and an average bottle of wine for two, you don't expect to be told that they're unable to give you a salad starter without cheese as they're already pre-made! Average hotel at an overrated price.

The area and surrounding scenery are beautiful…the hotel, itself, leaves much to be desired. I had to turn off my Wi-Fi in order to write this review; the internet is sketchy. There are no elevators, so it is difficult to get luggage upstairs- I don’t know how elderly or physically challenged people could manage. The small room was extremely uncomfortable, but the worst part was the mattress!!! I couldn’t sleep.
