Travelodge Reading M4 Eastbound

"This hotel is in need of refurbishment. The tv set didn’t work properly. The signal kept going and the picture pixelated. There were no usb sockets to charge anything. Thankfully there was one in the tv but things had to be charged one at a time. The WiFi annoyingly kept disconnecting from my phone and iPad every 20 minutes or so meaning I had to shut the WiFi down and keep reconnecting. Very inconvenient. The light in the bathroom had a flicker which was very annoying. Not recommended if you had epilepsy. Usually the Travelodge is very good but this is one of the ones that hasn’t been refurbished. Would recommend driving a little further and staying in the west bound hotel. Over the other side of the motorway. I will keep this in mind for future visits. I won’t stay here again or any Travelodge that’s not been refurbished. It’s not value for money and the price should reflect this. "

"Check in was a bit slow . But stay was decent but they could work on their cleanliness as the bath tube had stains and the toilet flush was not stopping at all was running through the whole night. And bed covers had some stains as well"

Mercure Newbury West Grange Hotel

"The staff is friendly and polite. Although it’s a bit of a drive from Newbury and closer to Thatcham, the location isn’t too bad. There are even public transport links, with a bus stop outside on the line that connects Newbury to Reading. I haven’t tried the food yet, as it seemed a bit expensive to me. However, there’s a pub nearby that serves excellent food. Unfortunately, there’s no air conditioning, but fans are provided."
