The bed assignment issue really needs improvement! On both the 10th and the 14th, I checked into the same room—Room 413, Bed 6—but both times when I went to the room after checking in, there were already other guests’ belongings on Bed 6. When I checked in on the 10th and reported it to the front desk, they told me to sleep in another available bed. On the 14th, I encountered the same problem again, so I didn’t go back to the front desk and just found an empty bed myself.

Amazing place ! I really enjoyed my stay here ! The location couldn’t be better ! ( 5min from the city center,5min from the main bus station,and a great view of the shore ) the service was also excellent ! All the staff member were super helpful ! They fulfilled my wish about my lower bed request, and even agreed to transfer a night I paid before so I could go to Vík overnight :) the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking,storing your food . The bathrooms and toilets were clean and always available as they were many toilet and shower to use !

dark and full of thieves. MAYBE DONT KEEP ANYTHING IN THE REFRIGERATOR. not sure how my things got stolen as they were packed in the back and not visible. was it the cleaning staff checking every item and label? did they decide to take it? was it a traveler, and because there's no CCTV they thought it'd be okay? i thought in iceland people would keep the cultural system of no crime. so this is a warning and also this experience (at the end of my stay) doesnt affect my overall opinion of the hostel (which i formed before having things stolen). the atmosphere is overly dreary and depressing. the most colorful thing is the mandatory rainbow flag that almost every business in the area seems to have on display (is it part of an extortion racket?). low light everywhere, even in the sleeping room when you need to be able to see and find things. the room had only one small window and only a tiny opening for fresh air outside. no air circulation or ability to adjust the room temperature. the room was cramped and the beds squeaked and creaked at the smallest movement. sheets were clean and no bugs were seen. so that is a plus! the interior and decor in the hostel is odd. it felt like a waiting room in the afterlife for people who led lives of honest vice and subversive transgression, or maybe it's best described as a purgatory for designers with perpetual Seasonal Affective Disorder. this probably suits most people interested in the general icelandic vibe, so it is appropriate. no ability to make a deposit for a lock for the lockers in the room. you must purchase an overpriced lock. finally there are no smiles on any workers who speak in monotone and seem bothered whenever you ask a question, as if they had been interrupted, as if it werent their job to assist customers, and as if i were dumb for asking a question.

Perfect location and facilities but the room is very very smell, make me not able to breathe.

The room is a little small for four people (two of them supposed to sleep in the sofa bed which will take most of the space in the room Paid parking by the hotel is quite convenient No elevator

It was really great. They were also very responsive to any last-minute requests, and the staff's responsiveness and service were excellent. This is a must-visit place in Reykjavik 👍👍👍

It was not the best option we could have found in town; service was ok but rooms and decorations were awful- kitchen was ok

The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful when I made the mistake of parking in the parking garage that didn't open until 7:00am and we checked out at 4:30am to head to the airport. He went and called the security company and also walked down to the garage and checked all the doors for me. Then when the security showed up explained my problem. He saved us from having to cancel our flight and paying extra fees for the car and flight. He is to be commended for his kindness. As far as the facilities they were clean and quiet, we had a fourth floor walk up . The only thing we had to request was some of the bathrooms needed toilet paper one morning. I would stay again.

We have a great stay at Kex Hotel at the beginning and end of our 9 days road trip. In total, we stay 3 nights at KEX (1 night and beginning & 2 nights at the end of our trip) The location is perfect! We can easily walk to the town area along the coast with a view and explore the town area with good eateries available. Even from the hotel, you already got a view especially when you head to level 3 or 4 to use the common kitchen area (see photos attached). The room (Family room) were very spacious (more than enough space to put all your luggage), very clean (10/10 for me) and very comfortable. The toilet is spacious too and the shower spray is strong and good! I welcome the room heater which make it warm and cozy even though it is end of Summer hahhaha. The staffs are all very friendly and I have a beer during the happy hour and is of reasonable price. The common kitchen area is amazing and has all essential you need. We enjoy all our hot cooked meal there. Overall, I highly recommended this place and should I go back to Iceland again, I will booked this hotel again :)

fantastic value for a solo travel on a budget. Beds are clean and comfortable. There's locker to store items. Bathrooms are outside and is very great in terms of privacy.

Staff were really nice and helpful and the room was pretty. Really nice for the price!
