We stayed at the City Center Hotel for two nights. There is an eclectic interior, comfortable lobby and on one of the lobby tables there is a large jar of candy which has some delicious licorice toffee for the taking. Check-in and out was easy, smooth and both the receptionists were extremely friendly and talkative. Baktus, who has his own Instagram account lives there… just another adorable resident Reykjavik cat! Our room was on the fifth floor and there was a small lift or you could take the stairs. Our room had a king sized, comfortable bed. The balcony was small and lovely and there were dark curtains to block out the sun in the morning. There was also a small refrigerator kind of funky-cool as it looked like a wine cooler. Plenty of towels, soap, shampoo and a hairdryer. There is no closet but a clothes rack to hang coats or clothes. Centrally located there are a multitude of restaurants around; we ate at the Laundromat Cafe one night. There is also a small grocery store across the tiny park at the end of the street which had vegan sandwiches and other goodies. Also, the hotel is within walking distance of Bus Stop #1 ( City Hall) and Bus Stop #3 ( outside of Hard Rock Cafe) which made it super simple to catch excursion busses or the bus back to BSI bus station and on to the Keflavik airport. Would stay here again-

We stayed here a couple of nights in early September for a pre-cruise stay. Clean, comfortable (we opted for the slightly larger room) and a great location near the waterfront area and walking distance to the old town part of Reykjavit. They accommodated an early arrival due to our flight schedule, which was appreciated. There is a connected cafe and coffee bar which was very convenient. There are some off-site parking garages (rented a car) which are OK, but a little expensive and if it is raining, not real convenient. They said they had storage lockers, but because they provided an early check-in, we did not need them, so I am not sure if they are on-site or not - if they are the ones in the parking structure, they are definitely not sufficient. Although we do not see us returning soon, if we did, we would definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay! It may not be for the budget-minded (this is Iceland after all - everything is expensive), but the hotel makes up for it in other ways. It has a great location in the center of town, close to the waterfront and many fine restaurants & bars. The front desk staff was very helpful, as they assisted us with booking a day tour of the Golden Circle, along with other small requests. The breakfast room is large and well-staffed, serving a wide variety of traditional breakfast items, as well as a few Icelandic specialties. the room was clean, quiet, and well-appointed. The shower may pose a problem for some larger people, but perhaps that was just our room. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

This hotel is the perfect location for a visit to Reykjavik. The main shopping street and many restaurants are within walking distance, as well as the old wharf where the whale watching ships are located. The staff was great, the coffee house excellent. Make sure to get a superior room; the second time we stayed we were not given that type of room and it was smaller and on the noisier side of the hotel. On the weekends, the bars close at 4:30 am, so there is much partying going on!

Room clean and tidy, quite a big room for three people. Staff helped fold our clothes which was nice. Good location, near the meeting points of tours, and even one could pick us up in front of the hotel! Brilliant breakfast with various kinds of food. Had an enjoyable stay here!

This hotel is in the perfect location. Bus stop no9 outside where all the trips pick up/drop off. Lovely self service breakfast with plenty of choice. Lovely, warm and cosy environment, when you come in from the cold. Our room 417 was very quiet and had a balcony. Room temperature is adjustable, which is good depending on weather. Very quiet location.

This hotel has a lot going for it, but it's held back by the fit and finish of many of the hotel's spaces. Overall, the hotel just feels dated. The red carpet in all of the halls is faded and stained, the wood floor in the room had a lot of damage, and the spa is way past its prime. On a positive note, the furniture in the room has been updated recently and the pieces were nice plus I found the bed to be very comfortable. Also, breakfast was really good! The service at the hotel was also great. But that spa, ugh. It's a perk of being a gold/diamond member, but the spa is just not in good condition. Most urgently, something needs to be done about the steam room, it smelled awful while we were there and even made other parts of the spa smell. But overall, the spa was just not in good shape with damage everywhere. Also, the location of this hotel isn't great if you're looking to explore Reykjavik but, if like us, you want somewhere with free parking for you to explore the rest of Iceland, then this is a great location for you.

Although the room is small, rooms in Iceland are similar. Overall it is relatively clean. It is very close to small shops such as churches and supermarkets. There is the sea on one side and the church on the other. The lady at the front desk is very attentive. Suddenly the alarm bell rang in the middle of the night and people ran out. The corridor will be fine after a while

A very good experience, the hotel has a sense of design, is exquisite and clean. The front desk staff are very welcoming and friendly. In particular, the Chinese lady at the front desk was patient and polite, spoke Mandarin very well, and helped us solve many problems. I would like to express my special thanks to her. The bedding is also very comfortable. It can be said to be the best among the many hotels we have stayed in during our trip to Northern Europe. Highly recommend this hotel

The hotel was nice and in a good location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a lot about the hotel experience that I did not like. First, get real room door card keys. The electronic insert key was ridiculous. In a country with a lot of day travel and changing of clothing layers, the key was a hassle to manage and simply not a good concept. Checked into the room, and the mini refrigerator did not work. It was stocked with warm beers, cocktails, and drinks. I expect this to be found in a pre check in room check. I left a note and it was replaced when I returned. I admit, I did not need the mini fridge and did not expect one, but with there being one, I feel this is sloppy room readiness. Although I had the top room type for the hotel, I did not like the bathroom design. Toilet was behind a translucent glass door by the sink and shower open to the room. I prefer doors and not being able to see the figure of someone in the toilet. Finally, I don’t take parking as a given. The hotel has 5 spaces marked for hotel only. I was given a car park sign for the hotel. Did not expect spaces to always be available. When I checked in, the staff swore there should be a spot, but two cars were illegally parked with no hotel pass. Same happened two more days after day trips. Working this after I paid for parking does not help me. If the hotel is going to have designated and clearly posted spots for guest, monitor and enforce them. One evening the hotel van was even using a space, but the other spots were valid hotel guests. But I should not need to bring license plate pictures for the hotel to enforce their parking. Finally, I was surprised there was not even a small heating pot for water to make instant coffee in the room or coffee for guests in the lobby or bar. Just coffee with the full continental breakfast (which I had better breakfast for less price outside the hotel). I think the hotel used the “designer” concept too much and forgot about guest experience. It is in the Marriott offering, but I would sacrifice location for a better overall guest experience.

GGuest UserThis was a such a wonderful place to stay, Walking distance to Main Street in Reykjavik. Rooms are so cute and clean and staff so friendly. Downstairs there is food, bar, cafe and cute spots to relax and chill. Even though we always found parking it would be nice if there was a dedicated hotel parking rather than sharing with all the residents. If you go back too late you will have to drive around to look for parking. Overall 5 stars for this hotel and highly recommend staying here.

GGuest UserThe hotel boasts a fantastic location in a bustling area, offering convenience for guests. The reception desk is exceptionally helpful, and the restaurant staff, particularly during breakfast, are outstanding. Wish the breakfast had more hot food variety and also better coffee options (only had filter coffee), neverthless still a great breakfast spread. The hotel comprises a modern half and an older section, but both segments provide all necessary amenities. Easy access to taxis and the nearby bus stop, which is ideal for convenient Iceland tour pick-ups. Overall, a comfortable stay with excellent service and accessibility.

GGuest UserKex… Ugh such a frustrating review to write. I really wanted to like the Kex hostel it has its good points, but overall was the worst hostel stay I have had in Iceland. I’ll give you my very detailed opinion. The Bad… -Lacking in the toilet paper department!!! We were on floor 4 there were several private bathrooms with showers and also separate locker room style bathrooms. At 7:30 AM I ran to the bathroom after finishing my business realized there was no TP! Ugh. Anyway afterwards I looked through the different open stalls with toilets. Only 3 toilets on the whole 4th floor had TP! To me having adequate TP is an essential thing. The bathrooms weren’t restocked until 10AM ish. And we aren’t even in peak tourist season. We mentioned the issue to the staff and they said “just call next time you need something” kinda hard to “just call” when you have already done your business in the bathroom and you need something to wipe with! They need to have staff check the bathrooms more frequently. -The kitchen is sad in the “equipment” department. One of the reasons we stay at hostels is to cook our own food. Maybe they are trying to push buying food from their restaurant. I get that they get a lot of traffic. But the cooking pan selection is -Terrible- nasty old pans that the thrift shop would discard. Janky handles, and interior coating mega gouged out. Don’t come here expecting to cook at least on level 4. -No way to make coffee!!! Again they probably want you to pay for their breakfast. But there is no option to make coffee. No coffee pot, machine, or way to make a filter pour over etc. Don’t bring coffee grounds expecting to make your morning brew. There was an electric kettle, but again no way to make coffee unless you brought instant. -The showers need a good bleach and scrub. The walls had black mold growing on them. Considering the fact that Kex was our most expensive hostel in Iceland (we paid 20,906 for a private double, with linens, and shared bathrooms…or $153 US) compare Kex to the Svjarborg in Stykkisholmer $90 US or Halfdan HI Hostel $63 US ( in both we had a private double & shared bath) but both were awesome and had a fully equipped kitchen with decent quality pots, options to make coffee, and plenty of toilet paper. I understand that being in the city we can expect to pay more. BUT I expect that price to include: -enough toilet paper -a means to make coffee -decent cookware. The good… -The location is great. Easy walking distance to the main shops/streets. And the ocean right across the highway. -Awesome “vibe” cool decor, lots of couches/lounge areas. -Entertaining/Social. In the evening there was group song trivia in the main area, and in another a live band. -Our room a private double with shared bathroom was large, and we slept well. (Note: I have never stayed in a “quiet” hostel so I always travel with a sleep soundtrack on my phone and a melatonin) -The staff was all polite In conclusion, I have traveled on 4 contine

TTeacher HarryLayout of room was kind of strange. The bed is on a weird platform that might be difficult to navigate for less agile people, or those who are sleepy or otherwise impaired. Bathroom was overly small. It has a kitchenette, but no microwave. The location is in the heart of the most touristy part of Reykjavik. This is the third hotel I’ve stayed in while traveling to Reykjavik. The others, both lower priced, were not afflicted with the smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) in the water. It is possible to filter this out, and a person paying the price this hotel is asking should be able to expect better quality water. If you want to be in the thick of the tourist action and don’t mind smelly water, this place is OK. Otherwise…

BBb.88We had an extremely pleasant stay and will definitely consider this hotel again the next time. Great location, friendly staff and the room had everything we needed. The free coffee & tea in the lobby was a very nice touch too, especially in a city as expensive as Reykjavik! I also appreciated that guests are giving the opportunity to opt out of room cleaning and are given a drink voucher for the hotel bar in return.

GGuest UserWe stayed for 3 nights b&b in April. We arrived early and our allocated rooms weren't all ready but the reception staff amended our room so that we could check in. We also received a room upgrade to a balcony room on the top floor. The room was spacious, good size bathroom and comfortable bed. There was plenty of wardrobe space but no drawers to store smaller items. There was just one issue with the rooms on the top floor, which was they were very hot. Even with the radiators turned off, the staff advised that the heat from the lower rooms rise and can make them warm. There are just 2 small top windows so didn't allow much cooler air to circulate. There was a good selection at breakfast with English and continental breakfast options, tea, coffee, water and fresh fruit juices. The restaurant food was also good and comparable prices to in Reykjavik centre. Good service from the breakfast and restaurant/ bar staff. We used the spa on one of the days and enjoyed this. There are seperate saunas in the male and female changing rooms, with joint hot tub (not jacuzzi), warm small pool and small cold plunge pool. There are seating areas in the pool area with drink service. Towels and robes are provided. The hotel is located outside of Reykjavik centre and about 30 mins walk into the centre. There are a few supermarkets locally, we didn't find any within a short walking distance but there might be some around. The hotel benefits from free parking right outside and we didn't have an issue with the space being full. This was a good location for us as a base to explore the island. The hotel was clean and well equipped to meet our needs. The only issue was the heat in the bedrooms, but apart from that we had an enjoyable stay.

GGuest UserCheck-in was pretty smooth. I was allocated the room just above the main entrance as such, it can be quite noisy whenever people get in or out of the hostel with the door slamming and some vibration felt! The bathroom and wc are fairly clean and tidy. Very cosy common area to mingle and make new friends. Kitchen has all the basic necessity. I especially like the small area right outside my room where i can have a light meal and nice view of the surroundings. Bought the unlimited bus rides ticket via the Klappid app for travel within the Reykjavik capital city and bus svc 12 is just few steps away. If time permits, you can even walk to the coastal area for sight-seeing. Overall, i am very satisfied with my 8 nights stay at Laekur hostel!

AArk Rice Eat 呃飯食This time we stayed in a formal hotel with a self-service check-in system. Although there is no front desk reception, the overall experience is quite smooth. The hotel has complete facilities, the rooms are clean and tidy, and the beds are comfortable. The self-check-in system is simple and easy to understand, saving waiting time. The hotel has a convenient location and convenient transportation. Although there is no traditional service staff, the hotel provides sufficient information and support. All in all, this accommodation experience was satisfactory and suitable for travelers who love independence and convenience!

To say I had a bad experience would be putting it mildly. The room was small & dirty & the staircase had construction equipment blocking it. I left the room immediately. & I immediately tried to cancel my stay but was told that there was 84% cancelation fee. So I emailed I would stay at the hotel bc I wasn't about to pay an 84% cancelation fee! When I went back to the hotel the code to the door wouldn't work so I tried calling the number posted on the door but that is also a non-working number & by this time it's 10 p.m. & I had to book another room. I have emailed the company several times but all I get back is they ”strictly adhere to their cancelation policy” even though it was there terrible customer service that led to my experience. The hotel itself looks nothing like it does in the advertised pictures & there is no place to park.
