"The room was simply and stylishly decorated, the bedding was clean and hygienic, and someone cleaned the room every day. The only drawback was that we couldn't find slippers. When we ordered the hotel, they said they would provide slippers, but fortunately we brought our own slippers to wear on the plane, so we didn't ask the hotel for them in the end."

"I had a fantastic experience at this hotel from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making check-in quick and easy. The room was spotless, comfortable, and exactly like the photos—modern decor, cozy bed. The location was perfect, close to everything I needed, and the amenities were top-notch. I especially appreciated the attention to relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-run hotel."

"Excellent location. Step outside and in Leicester Square. The facilities were really good for our 2 night stay. Breakfast was available for additional charge if required. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room fairly small but comfortably adequate with plenty of power sockets, large flat screen TV, kettle with tea, coffee and milk sachets. Bathroom and shower facilities were good. Leicester Square Underground Station a couple of minutes walk. Will definitely stay here again."

"Check-in is manual, the staff is proactive and courteous, and the key card will be taken to the room in1-2 minutes. And check out is self-service, just return the room card to the door key box when you leave, it is very convenient. The room is so spacious, can put 3 open suitcases flat, and enough position to walk around. The bed was big and comfortable. The air conditioner is also good, quiet and cool. Although WiFi is not high-speed, watching YouTube is still smooth and acceptable. Stayed here for three nights, overall very satisfied, big push."

Getting to and Around London

Big Ben

Are you ready to explore London now? Let's talk about how to get there and get around. Whether you're flying, taking a train, or arriving by bus, getting to London is straightforward.

If you're flying, London has several major airports:

  • London Heathrow Airport (LHR): As London's largest airport and one of the busiest in the world, Heathrow is located about 14 miles (23 km) west of the city centre. It handles a vast number of international flights.
  • London Gatwick Airport (LGW): Situated about 30 miles (48 km) south of central London, Gatwick is the second-largest airport, serving both international and domestic flights.
  • London Stansted Airport (STN): Located approximately 42 miles (68 km) northeast of London, Stansted primarily serves European and Mediterranean destinations.
  • London Luton Airport (LTN): About 35 miles (55km) north of the city centre, Luton handles European and some international flights.
  • London City Airport (LCY): Located 6 miles (9.5km) east of central London, close to the financial district, the airport primarily serves business travelers and short-haul flights.

Want to start your journey with ease? Why not book a hotel nearby that offers a shuttle service? It’s a real lifesaver, especially when you’re exhausted after a long journey or a late night flight. With the stress taken out of your arrival, you'll have more time and energy to dive into all the fantastic things London has to offer.

Once you're in the city, getting around is a breeze. You can use a contactless card or Oyster card for all transport: Tube (Underground), buses, DLR, Elizabeth line, Overground and trams. Plan your trips with the free TfL Go app or TfL journey planner. Other options include Santander Cycles, river buses, black cabs or minicabs.

Main Transport Types

  • The Tube (London Underground): The Tube is London's iconic underground railway with 11 colour-coded lines. It's the quickest way to travel, with fares starting at £2.90 for an off-peak single journey in central London (Zone 1).
  • Buses: London's famous red double-decker buses offer scenic routes across the city. A single fare costs £1.75, and you can make unlimited bus changes within one hour for the same price. While slower than the Tube due to traffic, they're perfect for sightseeing.
  • Docklands Light Railway (DLR): It connects to the Tube network and offers great views from its elevated tracks. Fare are the same as the Tube and can be paid with an Oyster card, contactless payment card, or a Travelcard.
  • Elizabeth line: London's newest railway provides fast connections across the city from Reading/Heathrow in the west to Shenfield/Abbey Wood in the east. It costs the same as the Tube but offers more space.
  • London Overground: These orange-branded trains link outer London areas not served by the Underground. The six routes are particularly useful for reaching neighborhoods like Shoreditch, Hackney and Wembley.
  • London Trams: Operating in South London, trams serve areas like Croydon and Wimbledon. They're cheaper than the Tube (£1.75) and run every 5 to 15 minutes on average.
  • River Bus (Thames Clippers): These boats offer a unique commute with stunning views of landmarks. Fares are higher than the Tube (single fares from £5.90), but you can use your Oyster card. Perfect for travelling between Greenwich and central London.

Other Ways to Travel

  • Santander Cycles: London's bike hire scheme (nicknamed "Boris Bikes") costs £1.65 for 30 minutes. With docking stations across central London, they're great for short trips in good weather.
  • Taxis: Traditional black cabs can be hailed on the street - the meter starts at £4.20. Minicabs (like Uber) must be pre-booked and are often cheaper. All black cab drivers pass "The Knowledge" test of London's streets.
  • IFS Cloud Cable Car: This Thames crossing between Greenwich and the Royal Docks offers amazing views. With a one-way fare of (Oyster accepted), it's more of a tourist experience than practical transport.
  • Walking: Many central London sights are within walking distance of each other. Free walking maps are available at Tube stations,TfL Website or TfL Go App - just watch out for traffic when crossing roads!

*The above transport information is based on data from TfL, Visit London, and other websites in 2025.

London Hotels Booking Tips

  • Book early (3-6 months ahead) for busy times like Christmas, New Year, or major events such as Wimbledon.
  • Check event dates: Big events (e.g. London Fashion Week, Notting Hill Carnival) often cause higher prices and limited availability.
  • Save with deals: New users on Trip.com can get up to 8% off hotel bookings.
  • Stay smart: Consider areas like Shoreditch or Canary Wharf for good transport links and better prices than central West End or Kensington.

MMelissaWe're a family of 4 with 2 young children and booked the studio. But when we arrived, we were told that the room had no electricity and so split us into 2 rooms instead. While the rooms were generally clean, most of the bath towels had brown patches or old blood stains on them which was quite gross. 1 room that we were assigned to also had a weird fishy smell at the stove area. The hotel is about 7 min walk from Aldgate East tube station and is located on quiet street. This is not a very pleasant area, and there were always shady characters around the tube station, which made us feel uncomfortable, so we tried not to stay out too late. Staff were friendly and accommodating but they appeared short staffed during check in / check out timings. Only 2 staff on duty, so there is a bit of a wait if you need their help at these times.

EEsther MaryThe hotel was centrally located. I enjoyed the leisure facilities. The staff in the bar and restaurant were lovely. However, the room decor was tired and the carpet was smelly. On the morning I was due to leave (check out was 12pm) I was trying to have a lie in and was woken by housekeeping trying to get into my room on 3 separate occasions between 8.30 and 9am. I would have thought that all rooms with guests due to check out would be cleaned after the guest had checked out and not while they were in bed? After all this, the TV came on with the welcome message, of its own accord, just after 9am, lighting up the room. So much for my lie in!!!

GGuest UserI am satisfied with the location and the modern environment of the hotel itself (not the unreasonable tiny space of a standard double room - a pot 8sqm double room), but this is the worst hotel experience my family and I have ever had. My mother is an old lady who is almost 70 years old. She fell down at the hotel entrance on the day we checked in. We noticed that the ground at the hotel entrance was designed with a ramp to facilitate access for disabled people who need to use wheelchairs, but there was a small gap and height difference between the entrance and the ramp, which caused my mother to fall very badly. We booked the pot 8sqm double room for 4 nights in this hotel, the space was really incredibly small. The only thing I could thought of was to ask the hotel whether they could upgrade us to a slightly larger room to accommodate an injured elderly person, and the hotel catered our needs. The Front Office and Operations Manager Rax explained that due to the design of the hotel, the small rooms are on the floors above the ground, whilst the large rooms are in the basement of the hotel, so the only room we can move to is located in the basement of the hote, and we could only be able to move on the second day of our stayl. Although this statement is not very reasonable, the situation in the basement is acceptable. The second unpleasant and terrifying experience was that I was taking a shower in the bathroom in the room while my mother was having coffee in the hotel lobby at night, and there was no one else in the room except me. While I was showering, the lights in the bathroom suddenly went out completely, while the water was still running normally. This was definitely the most horrible hotel experience ever. I was so flustered, trying so hard to find the water faucet in the dark and turn it off. Once I opened the glass door of the shower room, the lights came back on. I hurriedly finished my shower and went to the hotel front desk, I saw Rax and reported this issue to him. From his reaction to me when he knew about this, I didn't feel that he had any empathy or sympathy for the terrible thing I had gone through. He explained that the hotel had a new motion sensor that would cause the lights in the room to turn off if there was no movement in the room. He even argued with me that it wasn't a big deal that the light went out during the shower. I suggested that he could explain this new feature of their hotel to guests when they check in, so that if guests encounter a similar situation, at least they will feel less panicked. He told me that even if he knew it in advance, he would not feel better. I was really amazed by the responses as a Front Office and Operations Manager. On the third day of our stay, when I was putting on makeup in the room and getting ready to go out, the alarm suddenly sounded. When we were trying to calm down from the unpleasant experiences we had encountered in just two days, suddenly these things that made us irritable and uneasy happened again, which really drive us crazy. I then met the Front Office Supervisor Asher at the lobby, he tried to understand our experiences patiently, and gave apologies on behalf of the hotel. He offered us free breakfast on the forth day morning which we did not ask for. Asher also talked to me sincerely, and that he would talk to the General Manager of the hotel about our case, and let the GM to have a talk with us too. I think this is the kind of attitude and crisis handling method a hotel employee should have. Finally I want to say that although my family and I have been a member of the Marriott group for many years, we will no longer stay in any of their hotels and any type of accommodation.

However, I think maybe is too many guests staying in the hotel, the breakfast has not prepared enough the portion of the breakfast for the guest, it has cost us can’t get/ need to wait quite long for them to replenish the foods . Additionally, even though the hotel is 10minutes walk from Limehouse subway, but it was quite far from centre.

GGuest UserIf you’re booking for the location then it’s a 10/10. Pods are a few minutes away which makes making your flight a breeze.  Beds and duvets are comfortable however i slept without pillows as i can only sleep flat. They’re only double pillows. Not a good sleep on that part as there’s no spares. Hotel has no lift, but the first floor doesn’t have many stairs so not too much of an issue.  Beers are around £7 which is expected for a hotel near the airport. Good view overlooking the runway.  For a nights stay it’s a good deal, my second time I’ve been here now.  My only issue would be the pillows, with neck issues a lower pillow makes a huge difference.

AAnonymous UserStrategic location which is very near to the tube station (Bayswater), but this tube station has no lift, not convenient for those with big luggage. The hotel room is quite small, the wall is also very thin, and you can listen to the noise from neighbours. The corridor is also very narrow. Overall, it is a good stay for those who need a budget hotel and with easy access to tube station.

MM Alan AExcellent location within a 5 minute walk to Paddington Station. Other than this point, I was disappointed with the Hotel. Cost per night was quite high for what was their offering ... had to climb a shallow step stairs from street to lobby (no ramp), which was slippery when wet from rain/morning dew. Room was exceeding small and could not access the safe (on floor of closet ... needed to move bed to access closet), no functonal deadlock on door, shower and sink hard to access (medium sized adult) and no working A/C (though on the 4th night, they did bring me a stand up fan). Phone was also non-operational.

BBehekEverything was very good. Breakfast offers a lot of coice - except warm breakfast is only on Weekends. On the Trip site the check in time is incorrect (ov voucher it says after 12, but it is after 14) - despite us coming too early, they gave us the room and made coffee for free. The hotel is locked over night and the staff is really friendly. We were in the hotel trought the hottest days in history but they prepared a ventilator - because they don't have AC (normally).
