Shantou Hotels with Rooftop Pools

"Very clean. It's a 7-minute drive from the high-speed rail station. You can borrow a charging cable. The housekeeper was very nice and helped with directions. They even made mung bean soup in the evening and asked if we wanted some. The only minor drawback was not being able to find the fridge in the room."

"This is definitely the best hotel around Shantou Vientiane City. I booked a king-size bed room, but one of them had a strong musty smell. The customer service immediately arranged a room change and even upgraded us to a suite. The other king-size room was also moved right next to the suite, allowing the two rooms to connect, and both faced the sea. Thumbs up to the hotel! The breakfast was also fantastic. I was traveling with my elderly relatives, and finding street food for them would have been too tiring, but the hotel's breakfast pretty much covered everything we needed. We traveled just before the summer holiday rush, so the price was quite reasonable too."

"Facilities: The facilities are quite well-established, no bad reviews like some mention of messy toilets or anything like that – everything was very neat and orderly. Hygiene: Very clean. I just felt the room was a bit small, but it was already quite good. Environment: Very beautiful and close to the beach. However, for meals, you have to walk about 5 minutes to another villa. But I think the breakfast was really plentiful, delicious, and the portions were generous. Unlike some places where they don't replenish food after it's finished, here they would immediately bring out a new dish even if there was still a little left. Service: The service attitude was exceptionally good. When they were mopping the floor, I slipped while holding my child and my foot and knee swelled up. They immediately brought me some 'Huoluo Oil' (a traditional Chinese liniment) – it was the first time I'd seen the 'Huoluo Oil' mentioned in songs, hahaha – and also some ice. Be sure to try the restaurants recommended by the butler; you won't be disappointed. Especially that seafood place – the seafood is incredibly fresh and delicious. It costs around 150 per person, but you can't get that level of freshness anywhere else. It's truly delicious. We initially thought this place looked a bit scary, so we booked the cheapest room. Later, we found it wasn't scary at all; it didn't live up to those terrible reviews. Everyone should definitely give it a try! If they had bed rails for infants, it would be absolutely perfect! I will definitely bring my family to stay here again. It's truly super, super beautiful. The healing feeling of being able to see the sea right from your bed is something you can't experience elsewhere. We only stayed for two days because it was fully booked afterwards, so we went to stay somewhere else, but it didn't feel as good and was even more expensive, hahahaha."

"Plans change unexpectedly. My trip to Jieyang was switched to Shantou, and I booked the Shantou Imperial Hotel on Trip.com just half a day in advance. This isn't my first time staying here; it's a well-established five-star hotel, close to the high-speed rail station and not too far from popular food spots. After booking, I quickly contacted Linna, the butler I'd added on WeChat previously, to arrange a pickup from the high-speed rail. She responded promptly, asking for my train number, arrival time, and the number of people (very reliable!). She told me to just keep an eye out for her call upon arrival. To my surprise and delight, she also arranged a free room upgrade. Plans truly do change. While waiting at Puning high-speed rail station, I was informed that my train would be delayed by about 40 minutes. I contacted Linna immediately to avoid having the hotel car wait unnecessarily, but she informed me that the hotel's pick-up vehicle had already departed. She instructed me to look for a staff member in a red uniform upon arrival. I actually felt a bit bad about the delay. Once the train arrived at Shantou Station, as I exited the gate, I saw a sharp-looking young man in a red uniform standing at the exit, looking directly at our train's exit. We made eye contact instantly. He politely asked for my surname and confirmed some basic check-in information, then enthusiastically helped us with our luggage and guided us to the parking lot to get in the car (it felt quite fancy having a dedicated escort! 😜). During this time, he even called the driver to move to a more convenient pick-up spot to minimize our walking distance. After a few twists and turns, we finally arrived at the hotel. We quickly checked in, dropped off our luggage in the room, and began our culinary adventure. Given that it's an older five-star hotel, I must admit the facilities are a bit dated. The room also had some older fixtures and a faint smell of smoke. While the air conditioning seemed to help, an air purifier would have been even more effective in improving the room's scent. On a positive note, the water pressure in the room was excellent, making for a very comfortable and refreshing shower. The next day, when I contacted Linna to arrange a ride to the high-speed rail station, she was very proactive in communicating and coordinating with hotel management, even though our departure time was quite early (outside the hotel's normal shuttle hours). In the end, she ensured we arrived at the high-speed rail station safely and on time. To sum it up, while the hotel's hardware might not be the absolute best, the attentive and thoughtful service from the staff truly surprised and impressed me. This kind of warm service makes every guest feel genuinely cared for. For future stays in Shantou, I'll most likely choose the Imperial Hotel again. Such excellent service undoubtedly makes every guest feel comfortable and at ease."

"The past few days in Chaozhou have been scorching, with temperatures at 36°C and a 'feels like' temperature of 43°C – absolutely sweltering! The hotel thoughtfully provided an extra power card, so every time I returned drenched in sweat from exploring, the best part was being greeted by a blast of cold air and a chilled bottled water from the mini-fridge – pure bliss! The reception area also had a fridge stocked with plenty of complimentary bottled water, which was a very nice touch. Inside the room, there were some local Chaoshan snacks, which were quite tasty. When I inquired where to buy them, the hotel even had an auntie bring us more to sample – I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel is only about 100 meters from Kaiyuan Temple, making it incredibly convenient to walk to attractions like the Ancient City, Guangji Bridge, and Xima Road. I even walked to Guangji Bridge three times in one day and didn't feel tired. There are also plenty of food options and souvenir shops nearby. The room was spotlessly clean, and the pillows were very comfortable. The lovely ladies at reception and the cleaning aunties were all very warm and provided excellent service. Because the heat was so unbearable, I decided last minute to have lunch at the snack shop right next door. I ordered Chaozhou braised platter rice and pig offal kway teow, and to my surprise, they were incredibly delicious – tasting just like traditional home-cooked Chaozhou food. The pig offal kway teow had a light flavor, and for only 15 yuan, it was packed with ingredients; adding black vinegar elevated the taste even further. This hotel is definitely worth recommending!"

"One of my favourite Stays! This hotel is so beautiful, set with unobstructed views of the city line across the bay, with great walking tracks for exploring the island. We were very lucky to catch fireworks display during our stay. Our room was spacious, I loved the extra toilet in the room and a charger for our mobile phones. All the staff went above and beyond to show they care and made our stay comfortable, checkin and checkout easy. They were very friendly and kind.  Our stay included breakfast which was delicious, they also gave us Shantou pastry to take home when we checked out. Perfect for our train trip."

"The two ladies at the front desk were exceptionally helpful, and they even offered sweet soup in the evening. The hygiene was also very good, and the soundproofing was relatively decent – at least I could sleep in without being disturbed by the neighbors. My only minor complaint is that the cleaning staff would sometimes chat loudly in the hallway. On our last day, the housekeeper only made my friend's bed, leaving mine unmade. It looked like they started cleaning but had to leave in a hurry for some emergency. Otherwise, everything else was quite good."

"The hotel's location is very convenient, and the service is professional and patient, especially from front desk staff Roshan and Jzhyo. They provided excellent service and even gave us a free upgrade. Before we left, we needed help mailing something, and they were very responsible and followed up promptly. The food delivery robot is also safe and user-friendly. It truly lives up to its reputation as the best hotel in the area!"

"Came to Shantou for a short family vacation, and choosing the Oriental Century Hotel was absolutely the right decision! The moment we stepped into the lobby, we were immediately impressed. The ceiling was incredibly high and spacious, with a black grand piano in the center. The marble floor was gleaming, giving the place a very grand feel. There were also photo-op spots with a strong Chaoshan flavor, featuring bamboo chairs paired with red lanterns, printed with interesting local proverbs. Further inside, we even saw Lu Ye Ye's floral shop, and the entire hallway looked very tasteful. The hotel also has a Yinxin Bureau exhibition area. Having previously watched 'A Letter to Grandma,' seeing these preserved old overseas Chinese letters firsthand really moved me. The sea-view king room we stayed in was quite spacious, with a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the inner bay – the view was truly incredible. The vintage bedside lamps created a lovely ambiance, and the room was equipped with a capsule coffee machine. The bedding was soft and very comfortable, and there was a lounge sofa by the window where we could sit and quietly gaze at the sea, feeling incredibly relaxed. The bathroom had a Dyson hairdryer, and the bathtub even came with a disposable tub liner – many small details were very thoughtfully considered. In the afternoon, we headed to the outdoor pool on the 5th floor. The stairwell was adorned with a row of golden glass fish decorations, both exquisite and photo-worthy. The pool faces the sea directly, with lounge chairs by the side, making it incredibly pleasant to enjoy the sea breeze. The pool water looked sparkling clean. The buffet restaurant was elegantly decorated, and the dining areas were neatly organized. The breakfast selection was very rich, making for an absolutely fantastic experience. Whether it was the environment, the facilities, or the staff's service, everything was top-notch. This stay was truly wonderful and comforting!"

"Our stay was absolutely perfect! The hygiene and environment were the biggest highlights – it felt so cozy and comfortable. The staff were attentive and thoughtful, and our room was tidied up perfectly every day. There wasn't a speck of dust on the curtains or furniture, and the facilities were complete and spotless.
