The sea view room has a great view and a small loft. The price/performance ratio is really high, you can walk right to the beach, and the nearby restaurants and sightseeing spots are all good! My boyfriend said it was the first time in the UK that I could live in such a big room at such a cheap price. The room is relatively old, but to be honest, all buildings in the UK are like this, they are hundreds of years old.

The breakfast location is very good, you can see the sea.

Old-fashioned hotel, the lobby is small and a little outdated. You can see the sea in the breakfast room. This time, the sea view room is super large and relatively clean. You can fall asleep to the sound of the waves every day. It is about a 20-minute walk along the seaside boulevard from the center of the old city of Hasting.

I would not recommend as its filthy, old fashioned and overpriced! Disgusting if you ask me! They need to shut this place down, honestly the worst place I've been to, would never go again. Total waste of money! Also, all of the food looks horrid and it was! Below average.

The staff and the room was great, but on the Saturday we wanted to book for an evening meal in the Sea Terrace restaurant, but was told there is a wedding booked in and to come back later to see where the meal was taken place as the receptionist had no idea, later went back to reception but still didn’t know so she phoned the chef and he said they were serving it in the piano bar, so we booked it. So on arriving, the place was swarming with kids from the wedding screaming, running a mock and going up and down in the lift, the parents oblivious to this as they were too busy having fun. We ordered our meal, sat down on a table in the bar, but the kids were still running a mock no consideration for anyone else, so we decided to go down to reception and ask if we could have the meals sent upstairs as it was too horrendous having it at the piano bar. When we complained again to another receptionist she said I don’t know why they didn’t open the other restaurant , we couldn’t believe it when she said that. Apart from this, all the staff were all helpful and breakfast and the carvery was lovely.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in! I was shocked at how run down this hotel was, it’s very dark and dingy. The two times I went to the reception the lady was on personal calls. The smell of smoke is very strong as you are going up the stairs. Window panels are missing with a trail of dead flies and dirt all the way up the stairs. As soon as I entered the room, I cried. Unfortunately my work had booked this hotel for me. If you like a comfortable night sleep I would not recommend this hotel, the mattress had a huge dent from years of overuse. I really would struggle to find anything nice to say about this hotel.

The state of the bathroom facilities was unacceptable, with the toilet exhibiting extensive mold, dirt, and stains. Additionally, the carpets were outdated, emitting a persistent unpleasant odor and appearing very dirty. One might argue that Queen Victoria would be dismayed by the deterioration of this once-regal establishment over the past century. Given the unsatisfactory standards of cleanliness, it would be advisable for the Environmental Agency to consider taking action to address these significant issues.

Very disappointing. We have stayed here over the years and returned this year for a two night stay. Unfortunately the noise level on the second night has been consistently unbearable for hours. There is an event in the hotel and the music is far too loud. On contacting reception at 10.40pm we have been advised the music will continue until 11.30pm. We should have been informed when booking that there was an event on with high levels of persistent noise until 11.30pm. If so we would have booked somewhere else as we gave a very long drive hone tomorrow. Very unhappy and disappointed.

Visiting an old school British seaside hotel you expect some level of ageing, history, a bit of tiredness perhaps but with a sense of charm or nostalgia. The state of this hotel is beyond that. It is just depressing. This place has clearly been deprived of the financial investment it has needed over the past 30 years, much like the surrounding area. We stayed in a suite. The carpets are a wreck, the furnishings at best are tired at worst are broken. Things have been replaced over time as cheaply as possible and it shows. It is just minimum viable investment all round. The windows are absolutely filthy! What a shame with that sea view! But again this is just another example of cutting the costs of this place. Breakfast at ~£14 a head was the limit for me. I felt like I was eating a fry-up comprised of a collection of the cheapest stuff a member of staff had managed to collate from the supermarkets of Hastings. Sausages, bacon, beans, even the condiments. Utterly grim! The eggs were not cooked with translucent egg white, I’m not sure if this is the reason i spent that evening throwing up in the toilet but it is possible. The staff we encountered were lovely. Not a bad word to say. I had two minds about writing this, but ultimately felt it was fair as the photos on the website are not at all representative of reality, so it is only fair we are honest. So in summary, grim, tired, depressing. Felt more like a museum than a hotel. But no ce staff :)

We got married there two weeks ago and all I can say is wow the level of customer service was outstanding on all levels nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and Maggie was an absolute star on all counts! The rooms were top quality and so was the service can’t fault any of it. If anyone is thinking of getting married the royal Victoria is the place!
