After an 11 day trip visiting the Spanish and French Basque region using the Abba San Sebastian as my base for 7 nights, I have to take the time to praise the team and management of Abba. Check-in was quick and efficient. Unfortunately, there is not enough staff to help transport bags to the room. The cozy room is on the small size but cozy enough to manage for sleep and refreshing. The room and bath are both modern, clean and somewhat luxurious. The entire hotel only opened in 2020. The breakfast was fresh, more than adequate in terms of selections and the same every day. The staff both the very capable Julian and the always-smiling female attendant (I forgot her name unfortunately) were always attending to guests, clearing plates, refreshing selections at the counter and more. The location of the hotel is within walking distance of all in San Sebastian. Be sure to engage the best bartender in the Basque, Sergio. Order his own creation which is a hard liquor infused Sangria. Wow! I highly recommend a stay at the Abba. Would I stay here again? Yes, absolutely.

Unfortunately the hotel was a little underwhelming for me. We stayed for 3 nights at the City room, which says it can come with two Twin beds, a double bed, Queen, or King-size. I must have been unlucky because we had a double bed and room was tiny (there is no way a queen or king size bed can be included in the room). The layout was very odd: room was very small but it had a wide entrance and sizeable showers and toilet which was as big as the room. The only positive was the balcony which was quite nice (and big!). The breakfast was quite nice with plenty of choices so we enjoyed that. The other positive was the nice rooftop pool and lounge which would be nice during a hot summer. The gym is pretty good for the hotel, you can get a good workout here. And the indoor pool/sauna is delightful. We spent a few hours here relaxing (and inclusive of hotel price). However,i would also say the location is not ideal for us. We only had 3 days and most of the attractions are located and tours in the old town which was 15-20min walk away, so as we spent a lot of time there with rests in between day and night, we spent a lot of time walking back and forth which became tedious after a few days. When I come back to SS i would likely find a hotel closer to the old town. This is just my recommendation though.

Since it opened in 1912 Hotel Maria Cristina a Luxury Collection Hotel has been intimately linked to the history and cultural life of San Sebastian. In the late 19th century the seaside town on the southern point of the Bay of Biscay became a favorite destination for royalty and aristocrats who came to enjoy the sunshine and newly recognized therapeutic properties of sea bathing. A traditional afternoon stroll along the boardwalk offered an opportunity to see and be seen while the many cafes and open air terraces were filled with high society. San Sebastian had passed from being a sleepy fishing village into a thriving cosmopolitan town requiring luxurious, modern facilities to meet the demands of its discerning guests. The majestic design of the hotel by architect Charles Mewes, the man responsible for the Ritz in Madrid and Paris, combined with the propertys enviable river setting and sea views, resulted in it immediately becoming the favored accommodation for international high society.

The room was very good, there was a high-end feeling, and welcome champagne was also sent. The front desk service was warm, helped to book the restaurant and provided various information. There is a little regret that there is no big mirror in the room and it is impossible to shine. I don't know what the reaction of those stars to try on clothes without a full-length mirror when they come to live

San Sebastián is a great place and Zenit Convento hotel is conveniently located, minutes away from the beach and old town. The facilities in the room are good and the decor neutral and modern. The room we were given (1st floor) looked out onto residential apartment blocks. When we checked in, we were not informed that noisy building work to these properties would be going on during our stay. (I attach views from our room) We did mention this to reception and they apologised. Had I known about either of these I would have requested a room facing away from this awful outlook. We chose Zenit Convento because it had the benefit of a rooftop pool. The pool was closed for the whole week of our stay. The notice stated they were carrying out tests. This too was discussed with reception and they said they were sorry but in fact it didn’t open until the end of June. I cannot find anywhere on their website where this is mentioned and we found this to be misleading and frustrating. Breakfast was a chaotic experience from the very first morning. The table we were given on our first day was missing cutlery and butter. Staff were often not around or too busy to respond to requests or rectify mistakes. I ordered an omelette but was given scrambled egg. I asked for this to be changed. They took it away and then came back with the same plate and told me this was an omelette. Trying to explain that it wasn’t to someone who spoke limited English was difficult. Subsequent days were similar, long waits to get table service, items missing from the table. It was only on day 3 that we realised that a menu in English was available. No one had bothered to offer this to us. As a consequence, despite already having paid to have breakfast included, we decided on our last 2 days to have breakfast in the Taberna Blas opposite the hotel. The evening opening times for the bar are not clear. Sometimes it would still be open beyond 11pm sometimes it would not. We came back to the hotel at 11pm one evening and there were people sitting in the bar with drinks but no staff behind the bar. There were 2 members of staff on reception. We asked them if we could order 2 coffees. They said sorry the bar is closed and the staff have gone home. What are the opening and closing times and why can’t they be consistent and displayed. When we checked in we had 2 bottles of water in our room. We assumed therefore that water was provided free of charge throughout our stay as it is in the gym. When we checked out I was surprised to find water had been charged to our bill. I raised this and was told that only the first 2 bottles are free. This again is misleading and inconsistent. We travel extensively in Europe and rarely are we charged for still water in our room. With a room rate of €400 per night it should be included as part of the room package. I did raise many of these issues with restaurant / reception during my stay. The response was generally that they were sorry but that was it. The ma

My husband and I spent 3 nights in this lovely boutique hotel in San Sebastian. It is very centrally located - only a short walk from the old town and the beach. The reception staff are so friendly and helpful and gave us some really good restaurant recommendations. The rooms are lovely and very well serviced. The self service breakfast was very extensive and the servers were so friendly. I would really recommend this hotel as a place to stay in San Sebastion and we would certainly stay there again.
Overlooking La Concha Bay, this grand 19th-century building is set next to the beach, on San Sebastián’s seafront promenade. It offers discounted access to La Perla Spa and air-conditioned rooms with a private balcony. Rooms at the Hotel Londres y de Inglaterra feature classical décor with features dating from the Belle Époque era. They are equipped with flat-screen satellite TV, Wi-Fi connection and a private bathroom. Offering sea views, the hotel’s Mari Galant Brasserie serves traditional Basque food. The English-style Swing Bar serves cocktails and has a seafront terrace. Staff at the Londres Hotel’s 24-hour reception can help to arrange guided tours, live shows and restaurant reservations. You can also hire a car from the front desk and the hotel offers private parking. San Sebastián is famous for its food and the hotel is surrounded by good tapas restaurants. The Kursaal Convention Centre is around 15 minutes’ walk away, and you can walk to the old town in 5 minutes.

There has been a hotel at this location on the beach in San Sebastion for since the 1880s. The current Hotel de Londres was built around 1915 and it is a grand hotel that retains its elegance while offering modern convivences. First, a cautionary note. During our visit, many of the streets in San Sebastion were under construction and multiple streets had restricted access. Unfortunately, the main entrance to Hotel de Londres is located on a one-way street marked 'Bus and Taxi only.” It took twenty frustrating minutes of driving around before I decided to just ignore the road markings and drive down the restricted street to the hotel. Sensing my frustration, the hotel staff offered to park my car in the hard-to-find underground parking structure. Fortunately, we never needed to drive again during our 5 night stay. The scores of pintxo bars in the historic area are within easy walking distance. And taxis are readily available to take you to more remote restaurants. The hotel is marvelous, and the location is superb. Our ocean view junior suite overlooked grand promenade that runs the length of Concha bay. We could see boats in the bay, people on the beach, the spectacular scenery, and hundreds of people enjoying a stroll from morning to night. The promenade just outside to hotel was a magnet for street performers including two attractive and talented people dancing tango for tips. Our suite had a separate living area, a black marble bath filled with mirrored walls and a tub/shower combo, and a comfortable bed. The downstairs bar and enclosed terrace is restricted to hotel guests only so tables and chairs are easy to find most times of the day. We chose to eat dinner in the hotel restaurant one stormy night and it was a good experience: just be sure to make reservations. We would certainly return to this beautiful hotel in a spectacular city. Highly recommended.

We chose this hotel for our express exit to Donosti in accommodation and breakfast and we loved it! The room is very beautiful, modern, well equipped, the comfortable beds, a very chill-glass shower, the very soft and absorbent towels, hair dryer ”real” (not the powerless tube that usually offers other hotels), The hotel is located in the heart of the city centre, and the hotel is located in the heart of the city centre. The room was very comfortable and the room was very comfortable. The coffee shop despite being capsules offers a very rich coffee without being the ”aguachirri” you usually find in hotels. Personally we loved it. We were left two posts and a welcome note with a bottle of water. We recommend it and if We'll return to Donosti without doubt to repeat.

Spent two nights here at the end of May. We arrived into San Sebastián on the bus from Bilbao Airport and after a 30-minute walk arrived at the hotel. We got to the hotel around midday and were thinking of leaving our bags at reception until the room became available, but after 15 minutes we were able to check in and get our cardkey. The room was very contemporary with a comfortable bed and good storage facilities, a fridge and a safe. As is common in Spain there were no tea of coffee making facilities, but complimentary water was provided. The room had a balcony that looked out over the main road outside, but the room had good soundproofing and we were not disturbed. The bathroom was clean and modern, though was incorporated within the bedroom rather than being a separate room. This meant there was little soundproofing and the frosted glass did not leave much to the imagination! The hotel is about 30 minutes away from the main tourist attractions of San Sebastián, and is in a more residential part of the city. There are some great bars and pintxos restaurants close to the hotel, and in one particular we would recommend is Oliyos. There is no restaurant on site but they do have a coffee bar, though we went out for breakfast both days to a bakery across the road. Ondarreta beach is close by and on the first day of our stay it was warm and sunny and we be spent a few hours there. Overall we were happy with our stay here and would recommend as a base when visiting the city.
NH Collection San Sebastián Aránzazu enjoys a privileged location in one of San Sebastián’s upscale neighborhoods. From this elegant and relaxed hotel you can take a pleasant walk to the Ondarreta beach and the Ancient Quarter of the city. Within minutes from the hotel you can sample some of the best cuisine in Spain, with various Michelin-star restaurants close by. The 178 rooms at NH Collection San Sebastián Aránzazu are decorated in a warm, contemporary style and a neutral color palette. Rooms feature especially designed furniture, including creations by Isamu Noguchi. You will enjoy a great night’s sleep with oversized mattresses and a pillow menu. Throughout your stay, relax with rain-effect showers and a canopy lighting effect in each room. A delicious buffet breakfast is served daily, offering guests a variety for every taste. For fresh Spanish cuisine, enjoy your lunch or dinner at Kukuarri, created by MartÍn Aristondo, who locally sources ingredients and creatively adapts them into delectable dishes. The hotel bar features a cocktail menu created by renowned barman Diego Cabrera. There is a gym for our guests with lovely views of the city. For meetings, make use of our 9 function rooms for up to 400 guests.

Quick Notes: Great Value The beach is a 7-10 minute walk Lots of close restaurants and bars The more quiet side of San Sebastián Outstanding Front Desk What a splendid hotel! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this NH, which felt like a perfect place to retire for the evening after a long day on the beach. My room was modern and spacious - and the room service was phenomenal. The front desk staff was particularly helpful whenever I had questions or needed help with something. This NH might also have one of best burgers in Spain. The restaurant downstairs was also phenomenal, and the cocktails were on point.

PPhilip EBeautifully appointed hotel in the old town with fabulous views over the bay. The roof terrace is a treasure, what a place to enjoy a late afternoon drink and watch the sunset! The staff were all very good - everything was made to feel effortless and we had a very relaxed stay at the hotel. Breakfasts were excellent and hats off to the team - they were so organised and friendly - just like being in the best pintxo bar in the old town! Only feedback for future guests is that you can't sleep with your window open due to the all night noise in the old town - the rooms have excellent windows and block the noise but you need the aircon (we don't like aircon so we didn't sleep as well as we're used to as a result - I can't fault the hotel in any way but just feedback for others.)
CcengizIt is such a nice and luxury Spa hotel. Room is very well designed and comfy. Everything you need is in the room, kettle, fridge etc. Hotel has a Spa, Gym and swimming pool. Spa is not free but Gym and swimming pool is free. If you want to stay in San Sebastián but a bit farther from city center this is perfect place for you.
TTsuiThe hotel surpassed our expectation, very pleasant stay, the service is unbearable especially the breakfast, talent made most of the items, personal touch which is hard to find these days elsewhere. Very new and chic design, small and feels home away from home. Definitely will come back again when we visit the city!
PPioneer64723816365Superb Hotel in suburb close to big hospital, you can park your car free of charge outside (if you find one). Rooms are luxury in all senses, recommend place in San Sebastian! Breakfast (officially 20€/Person) was disappointing. Not even a spanish Flute for tostada tomate only white toast.
Two nights in Donostia San Sebastián with a guided walking tour booked for our full day in the town. The hotel is really comfortable and the staff are all truly lovely. Our room had everything we would want but like so many Spanish hotels they don’t provide tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We travel extensively in Spain and bring an aero press coffee maker, its small and convenient for travel. We have a small travel kettle and bring coffee. Milk is more challenging now as since Brexit milk and milk products cannot be brought in but that can be addressed with a bit of planning. That said, breakfast starts at 07:30 and the coffee from the machine is actually OK. A good selection of breakfast choices including bacon and eggs. What we do like about this hotel is the staff. All are friendly and smile all day long. The young girl at the bar was really friendly and we felt welcomed and comfortable. Plenty of comfortable seating in the bar area and food can be obtained via the bar menu. We however chose the restaurant both evenings and were so so impressed. Our food was excellent and we were looked after both nights by two different but equally attentive, professional staff. I didn’t get the name of the waiter on Tuesday night but he was delightful. Thursday we chose the tasting menu and so glad we did. Every single dish was superb. A special mention to Irina ( Irene?) who served us. The restaurant was really busy and she was on her own waiting on tables. She was friendly, charming and helpful even though under pressure due to the volume of diners. She did a fantastic job. The food here is some of the best hotel food we have had. All food and drink is on a pay at the point of use, no putting it on the room but for us that worked really well as the room was prepaid so checkout was quick and easy. Just leave the key in the box and go. WiFi is excellent. If you are driving there is parking in front of the hotel but not enough spaces if the hotel is full. There is parking opposite. The hotel is situated on a hill, and I mean a hill!!!! The walk into town took about 25 minutes. We discovered the taxi rank right by the bandstand near the seafront and it was only €8 to get a ride back up the hill. If you are visiting the town you will have a comfortable welcoming stay here but come thinking “ taxi” to get back.
GGuest UserVisited here last month and just wanted to state how good the hotel was and more importantly, we couldn’t speak highly enough of the staff. The town is less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel - the route is fairly steep but manageable. Would not hesitate to use this hotel for our base once again. Good breakfast for a reasonable price and also free parking which comes in handy.
AAnonymous UserI stayed at the Sercotel Hotel in Barcelona last year, so I chose the Sercotel Hotel in San Sebastian this time. The location was very convenient as it was within walking distance from the San Sebastian bus terminal, and it was also convenient for sightseeing and about a 10 minute walk to the old town. (Concha Bay is also nearby! Perfect for getting up early in the morning and walking.) It's quiet because it doesn't face the main road. The hotel is an old building, so it can't be helped, but the sound of doors opening and footsteps from the next room could be heard quite a bit. Also, the floor was tilted (lol) The room itself was clean and comfortable. There was no free bottled water or amenities (toothbrushes, gowns, brushes, slippers, etc.). The hot water and water pressure in the shower were good. The bathtub was filled with hot water quickly. I didn't eat breakfast, but it seemed like you could eat it on the same day for around 14€. This is a hotel I would like to stay at again when I come to San Sebastian again.
GGuest UserI rarely write hotel reviews, but this time I really want to write about this seriously underrated hotel. The hotel is located on the top of the mountain on the side of Shell Bay, overlooking the entire Shell Bay. The scenery is invincible and the sunset is so beautiful. The hilltop pool is beautiful. There is a cable car up and down, 5 euros back and forth, directly to the beach, so convenient! There is also a small playground on the top of the mountain, which is slightly soiled, and the little one will like it. The hotel facilities are slightly old, and the sea view room is still invincible. Breakfast is not good, it is too simple. In short, this location is the only place to come to San Sai, and it is absolutely necessary to stay for one night!
3305SimonPWas very concerned having seen the bad reviews on here, especially as travelling with small children. However we were quite impressed and left happy. The location is great, with a regular air conditioned bus every 20 mins. The staff were very friendly, and the facilities were all new. The swimming pool was good, and the bar / restaurant. The busy road is closed off by a newish fence so wasn’t concerned about the children’s safety. My only negatives were that the pitches were very small, could just fit our caravan and awning on, but there is a car park just across the road (less than 1 minutes walk). The other negative was the cockerel that started about 3am, however if we turned our fans on in caravan this would cover the noise up. In summary, we would definitely stay here again, San Sebastián was amazing and felt like Rio de Janerio, spot on beaches and good surf, the kids played all day. Because the site is so close you have to expect it to have small pitches, and they can’t help it if neighbours keep animals. I think a lot of the buildings seemed to be recently refurbished too, it was all good.
