Glad that I stayed just for 1 night, but that 1 night cause me to have a bar flu, as I am allergic to dusty. The place itself is okay, and quite convenient for those who just want to stay for a day transit, as it is near to the airport, and only 20mins to Sepilok Orang Utan. The place is rundown, as u can see in the pictures, they seem not to have effort to change the bad wall paper, clean the dusty etc. Really need to refurbish again. Stay away if u have an allergic to dusty, u will regret like me. But a good area for transit in terms of location. Breakfast food was just okay.

This is the first visit in Livingston Hotel as a buisness traveller, although i felt the price was bit on a higher side considering its far off location from the airport and rest of the convenient areas, i would say its fine for a 1-night stay. More than a night i would probably won't stay if the rates to be over RM250++ for a standard unit.

First time to Sandakan, arrived late at night so chose a hotel which should be easy ti find and bigger scale at avoid any surprise of late check-in.
Location is 20 mins Grab from airport. Nice entrance and staff is friendly. It is quite an old old but I think they refurbished. Look good but the facilities kind of dated. First night hoping for a nice hot shower but the shower head fell down. Luckily could put it back as dont want to change room late at night. My bath tub stopper chain broken so after a bath the water stayed.
We booked junior suite as I didn’t want carpet room. Smaller than on the photo but overall clean. Balcony is not really for sitting out though. However the hotel carpet outside the room smells a bit I guessed ventilation was the issue.
Breakfast was good. I booked via trip.com to include a child but somehow that we not counted and they supposed to charge me a fee. Finally they offered for courtesy.
Best part was the swimming pool with slide, fun for kids.
If to explore the Samdakan, this could be a good location as walking distance to Agnes Keith House, then taking the 100 steps to go to the town.

We got this location on a cancellation by another hotel and couldn't have been more pleased. Our Junior Suite was spacious and comfortable. The buffet was excellent and dinner at the Chinese restaurant on 1st floor terrific. Not Halal certified (i.e.: Pork and liquor served here) we enjoyed the dim-sum brunch on Saturday. The evening entertainment left everyone happy with pictures to remember the performance. The owner is a fantastic host. Limited English programming on TV. A destination in itself.

Central in the main town, great base for day tours to the parks/sanctuary/River. Few options for food along the waterfront. Sandakan seems a quiet town with a few tourists but mainly local (v friendly) population, clearly a short stop/jump off spot. Options for 'drinks' are few - this is a no alcohol establishment, but there is a roof bar 3 mins walk for an evening beverage (the baling Hotel roof). Very clean..comfy bed, great aircon and hot shower. For the price the included breakfast had fresh fruits, to order omelets /eggs/ rice/ noodles and toast. No complaints!!!

We spent 4 nights over new year at the resort together with friends and enjoyed the stay a lot. The resort is really beautiful, at the edge of the jungle, full of trees and plants, with the houses nicely and loosely spread over the resort. The houses are nicely build and have a jungle outside shower. The resort has a really good restaurant serving local and delicious food. The staff is very friendly and the kids loved it as well.

Stay connected with your associates, as complimentary Wi-Fi is available during your entire visit. When arriving by car, you'll be grateful for the on-site complimentary parking at chalet. This is the sort of place where the staff will always greet you with ”hello, sir/ma'am” whenever they see you. Nice swimming pool and very good food at the restaurant, even though slightly pricy at first (I guess it's fine being a resort), the portions are actually huge and very fresh. Try their lemon chicken on rice for 20 ringgit (February 2024). All you can eat breakfast included for free even with the dorm bed: fried noodles, a very thick pancake, fruit, British breakfast, beef sausages, coffee, juice, etc. Walk-in price is 80RM, cheaper here on Trip. The dorm looks exactly the same as the one I staid in Kinabatangan, which is always funny (same contractor?). Comfortable night, with a new AC and fan, specially so considering I had it all to myself since the other few guests they had had private accommodation. Dorm showers have plenty of hot water and are clean, but there's no soap or amenities beyond the towel they give you at check-in. Bring your own. The staff at the restaurant sometimes disappears for no reason in the middle of service, even if there's about 20 of them considering réception is right there. They helped me book a taxi to the airport (50 ringgit), since there's no grab available (spent 1h looking for one). Don't bother trying to get one, ask them to call a taxi for you, really. This resort is about 1km away from the three main things to do at sepilok. You will be walking on the side of the road to get anywhere since transportation options are scarce and expensive. Overall this is standard of service here in Borneo, so don't settle for less than this.

We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved it! The standard rooms are on the basic side, however for the money we paid we felt this was more than adequate (Considering you are in the middle of the jungle). The staff and the food were amazing and you’re well fed with the free breakfast! Actually very surprised at the previous reviews on here as the staff went above and beyond to cater to us and seemed really interested in our travel plans etc. Nothing was ever a bother for them and they seemed to really like their jobs from our point of view. We did make an effort to speak to all the staff (human decency), which in turn they were always super welcoming to us! The closeness to the attractions you want to see in Sepilok is the main bonus, with the orangutans and the sun bears being within a 10 minute walk. We spoke to some other travellers who weren’t staying here but came for lunch and they said how they highly regretted not booking here as theirs was practically derelict. The pool area is great for a cool down and very refreshing and the wildlife we seen around the resort alone was amazing. We 100% would come back and would definitely recommend!

Outstanding
SSh Zakie AFor a budget hotel, very impressive to have many facilities such as wifi, cable tv etc. Location wise very good. Located at the centre of Sandakan town. Few steps to Harbour Mall. Young but Well-trained staff & receptions! Keep up the good work!!
GGuest UserThe deco is absolutely stunning. Pretty, can't deny this. Kids were happy to see the hello kitty theme, small size couch for the kids to sit. Downside is the amenities for this accommodation is poorly maintained. Front door can't close, owner ask us to just lock gate don't close front door or door will not able to be open from inside (?!), balcony look dangerous for children, so many sure not to let any kids go there. Lucky just book the place for a night, else will be worry for safely. Pic included where door required to stay open whole day/night to avoid locked in. Lol.
Highly recommend staying here! The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have free transportation to the RDC, Sepilok Orangutan Centre, and the Sun Bear Centre. The staff was also able to help me get signed up to do two night tours at the RDC and provided transportation to and from. They can help with other tour reservations as well though I did not have time to take advantage of them. The retreat itself is beautiful with amazing views! You really get the experience of being immersed in nature while you are here. They provided breakfast for free and then have a simple menu that you can purchase from for lunch and dinner. The vegetarian curry and vegetarian fried noodles were delicious and the rest of the food looked good as well. The prices for everything were also reasonable and was well worth it!
GGuest UserFirst the good. Location is excellent, AC and Wifi worked great, very clean. Bed comfortable, and they even provide a true top sheet, something lacking not only in most places in Malaysia but most everywhere in Europe even at 5 star hotels. Grounds are lovely with only the sounds of the forest so very quiet. The soso, staff friendliness and brakfast. Its not restocked so by 830 its slim pickins. Nothing to get excited about even at open. But my biggest complaint is the fact that under facilities its lists ”shared kitchen” so we bought groceries as we like self catering. After check in, when I asked where to find the shared kitchen, which is pictured on the listing on agoda, she asked which room we were in. When I said the Hornbill lodge, she said only 1 building has a shared kitchen and its for guests of ONLY that building. This is a paradigm of fraudulent inducement, and I deduct two stars for that. There is a sink and fridge and a counter in Hornbill, in other words they have the place for the promised shared kitchen, and adding a hotplate and a couple pans would hardly cost them much, but they've chosen instead to not deliver what they promise.
BblobbtThe hotel was incredible welcoming and the receptionist was lovely.
The room was consistent with other hotels in this price range. It's a local area with many small restaurants located nearby.
The room was clean and spacious and the water was hot. Shower was nice. They left us 2 bottles of water as well.
Overall very nice.
GGuest UserThis was our 12th stay at Marks Lodge and the hotel is a decent hotel in Bandar Indah. Staff are attentive and pleasant. Hotel rooms are decent and clean but the TV channels are in need of upgrading as you can barely watch anything as the channel selection is horrible. We also as part of our group had left a letter asking for a sponsorship for an event we were participating in given we had stayed at the hotel but never heard back from the management. On that basis, and the lack of care in replying, we decided to give the hotel a 1 star.
YYew Tzen COne of the cleanest rooms with basic facilities in Sandakan. Easy access to major areas and facilities. No breakfast or meals, but there are restaurants and plenty of watering holes just right next to the hotel. The neighboring spa and massage centre is another major plus... and extremely affordable and so relaxing after a hot and physical day trekking outside. I even rented a car for the day, pick up and return right at the lobby.
GGuest UserLocation : not too far from kg pukat, seafood bak kut teh, harbour mall; but quite a distance to IJM. A quiet place and not so happening. Overall Sandakan places are quiet and dark when night is approaching.
Service was good, friendly staff. Amenities was quite old but OK in term of management. Room and bathroom are clean.
자자유롭게 빡빡하게The best thing for this hotel was its location.
The room was big and spacious.
However, the room and the bathroom was never done cleaning. It is ok older building, interior and furnitures...should have done some cleaning for your guests.
