We travelled with a toddler to Sanya and decided to choose Intercontinental for it's low density and location.
Even though the hotel was at full capacity, we felt like we had enough privacy and quietness during our stay which was perfect for our child to have space and enjoy the pools. Having club access is one of the best choices, there was food and drinks pretty much available all day, so we could hop in and grab a bite any time. The club access pool was quiet so most of the time, we had the pool to ourselves. The breakfast had a huge variety of food and the replenishment is quick. We also had lunch at the restaurant by the sea, surprisingly pleasant as well. The coconut rice, which is the Hainan staple, is a must order!
We tried their room service, the food was alright, not expensive considering it's hotel restaurant, paid less than RMB300 for 2 large portions.
The staff were all super helpful and amazing, especially our butler, Mia Fang. She replied right away and assisted us with every need. We even left something in our room after checking out and she arranged to have it shipped back to us right away. Definitely 10 star rating!
Our package included a free 30mins photoshoot, great experience, they weren't pushy at all to sell their packages, we got 10 unedited photos for free. Tip! Try not to choose noon times, its SUPER hot. I think 4pm and onwards would be best for this.
The only negative comment we would say is the room we stayed in was quite old, so there were pieces of furniture that broke and the walls were peeling a bit. If the villa were refurbished, this hotel would be most recommended for any type of traveler.

Absolutely perfect stay! 🏝️
The room was lovely, the breakfast buffet delicious, and the staff incredibly friendly—special thanks to Davidson, who assisted us at check-in (his English was a big help!) and was always available whenever we needed anything.
The pool area was great, and we especially loved being able to swim in the sea—a rare treat in Hainan! 🌊 Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the island. Will definitely be back!

Had a pleasant stay here for our anniversary.
+ The male guest manager was very attentive and polite throughout our stay
+ Not new but well maintained
- Weekends can be crowded with families and kids
- Pool water was a bit murky; one of the pools looked shabby, so most people used the other one, making it feel crowded
Suggestions for improvement: Reserve some beach beds for hotel guests, and consider upgrading the second pool and poolside bar.

The hotel was beautiful, we loved every parts of it! The beach, the pools, the restaurant! The crew was very friendly, Davidson was always checking on us. The breakfast and the dinner was almost the same everyday, which was kinda boring on the 6th day, and would advise for the staff to learn some basic English, because if you are not Chinese, or Russian they couldn’t understand you.
However beautiful place, best week!:)

We spent 3 unforgettable nights at the InterContinental Sanya Resort as a couple, and everything about our stay was simply perfect.
From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly, warm, and helpful—they made us feel welcome and cared for at every step. The resort is stunning, with a peaceful atmosphere.
The design and location are picture-perfect, surrounded by lush greenery, beautiful pools, and a private beach. We found so many incredible spots to relax and take photos.
We strongly recommend InterContinental Sanya Resort to anyone looking for a luxurious, stress-free escape. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Not 5-star standard. Feel like they are trying to pinch every penny from you. Chose this hotel because they mentioned “rare snorkelling resources” I saw nothing but bleached corals sand and dead seaweed. Another thing they mentioned on their website is a free airport shuttle than runs twice a day which doesn’t exist. As tennis players we were excited for the court - turns out we have to pay $150 per hr for a very poorly maintained court (broken net with lots of cracks on the floor) with a bathroom that had a dead cockroach in it. Would like to mention that the staff that helped was nice enough to waive the fee for that hour after hearing our feedback. Check in was quite chaotic too! Our room was nice — just that the outdoor couch faces the room and not the sea view. Food was limited and over priced. Overall quite disappointed

Nice trip in Sanya.Hotel has an excellent location.Very close to tourist area.Staff are friendly and polite.Any request they try to help and find solution.Hotel area is big and many restaurants .Western foods available.There is buffet in the evening.Highly recommend for family vacation.

Service given by assigned butler Wendy was very good. She was very helpful in resolving our issues on the rooming and other needs
Location - being a resort it’s pretty far from the scenic UNESCO sites we wish to visit as it takes between 40minutes to 90 minutes to reach there.
Faculties/amenities are quite complete catering for all ages in terms of activities. Beach was beautiful view with white fine sand

Travelling china can often be hard because of the language barrier. On arrival Intercontinental provided the contact (who also proactively reached out) of “Bella”. She was PHENOMENAL and just consistently went above and beyond to help us navigate our time at the hotel and Sanya in general, going to far as to help us get in contact and organise some of our island activities that we were struggling with due to the language barrier. Bella was a star, and the hotel’s help in providing that service was greatly appreciated.
