"The hotel is located right by the river with a beautiful view. You can enjoy the outdoor onsen, and they provide yukata/clothes to change into. It’s a shame because the location is excellent, but the hotel could really use a renovation. The onsen is spacious, but it feels quite old, with moss/algae buildup in some areas, and it’s located next to a smoking room, so the cigarette smell was quite disturbing. Both breakfast and dinner are served buffet-style with a wide variety of options, and the food tastes good. In the evening, there’s also a great selection of alcoholic drinks available."

"The room is big enough, and there is a small balcony~~The open-air soup is very comfortable, breakfast and dinner are very good, and there is self-service laundry and drying~~You can walk down, eat, and take a bath at ease~~The waiters are very attentive, and the next day They even drove us to the bus station early in the morning; also, the hotel’s dog is very well-behaved"

"Kind of annex of the sister hotel next door. In the annex is an onsen, washing machine and dryer (free to use), vending machines with beer and drinks and noodles. Room is basic. I had a great view on the river. Small balcony, but dirty and no chair. The annex is okay to stay if you are hiking. The best thing is the sister hotel. A great onsen with outdoor bath. Nice souvenir shop with a bit more food. Staff are super friendly and helpful. They also provide bus services (bring and pickup to Hongu Taisha, the other onsen places, the trailhead busstop) which you can use! Just call them if you want to be picked up. I did not realize Kawayu Onsen is a very small place with NO supermarket. If you did not book breakfast (served at the sister) bring your own into town or eat instant noodles. There are 2 small restaurants with delicious local food."

The service of the staff is polite and kind to greatly recover the old equipment. This is the first time I feel that the cleaning staff is not enough, but I want to go again. "The hot spring right outside the door is incredibly soothing, and the stars are amazing at night. The food prepared by the host is delicious, and there's a private communal hot spring to soak in. The only downside is that the soundproofing isn't great; the older man in the next room was incredibly loud. But thankfully, the other guests all went to bed early, so it didn't disturb their rest too much."
