Lovely, charming place! Rooms were very well equipped. Floor heating was very useful in winter weather! so was huge deep bathtub Breakfast was a big surprise - it was served in traditional Japanese room with traditional local food! And it was so much food! Staff was super kind, when I was lost due to snow and darkness receptionist drove me to the restaurant! I feel like in this hotel I saw real old Japan far from tourists , far from modern lights, far from rush. Really great and friendly service from the day time staff and breakfast staff. Rooms were spacious with all the amenities. Free use of the near by onsen was also highly appreciated! Although Kakunodate itself isn't really a destination for a longer stay, time spent here was relaxing and comfortable.

From the moment we walked in the door to the morning we left we were made to feel completely at home and welcomed like old friends. Everything was so beautifully presented and we slept so well. Receiving tickets to the local Onsen was a lovely surprise. If you decide to only do the breakfast plan we highly recommend making reservations for dinner in local restaurants asap after you arrive as they fill up very quickly. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was attention to detail in presentation and completely delicious 😋. Highly recommended and would definitely love to stay again in a different season to see everything in a different light.

Loved being in the beautiful historic Bukeyashiku area with lots of samurai houses and gorgeous streets. I was overwhelmed by the kindness and assistance I received from the hotel staff especially as I was sick during my stay. They met me at the station on the first night as they knew there would be no taxis, took me to buy food, brought me sustenance and fresh fruits !! Fantastic Japanese breakfasts too and I loved the dark wooden beams and Japanese screens . Very comfortable & spacious rooms- a must stay in Kakanodate.

The room was clean and tidy, and the experience was quite good. The local scenery was beautiful, making it worth a visit. It's quite close to the train station, about 900 meters away, a 10-minute walk, which is very convenient.

The staff at the counter spoke excellent English and were very welcoming. They recommended the restaurant for dinner, saying it was delicious and the place had a unique charm. It wasn't far to walk to the Samurai House of Aoyagi, and there was parking available. There was also a hot spring nearby where you could get a voucher from the counter for two free soaks in the morning and evening. Highly recommended.

The room was very clean and the bathroom was very comfortable. The receptionist was very polite and gentlemanly. He introduced some nearby attractions and restaurants. The breakfast was different every morning. The elderly lady was very polite. 5 stars

A lovely, all-wood hotel with spacious rooms and all the amenities you need. We were very kindly welcomed by a gentleman who took the time to explain the main attractions to us. The breakfast was excellent and met our expectations; the lady who served us was also very friendly. The parking next to the hotel is very convenient.

The comfortable space and floor heating, as well as the delicious food made with local ingredients in the restaurant, are still delicious. Looking at the snowy scenery from the floor-to-ceiling windows of the room is very romantic. The hotel provided a ticket to the Kakunodate Hot Spring, but I didn't go to the hot spring bath because I couldn't bear to leave this beautiful and elegant little house. If I come to Kakunodate again, I will stay here again.

Kakunodate is very beautiful in autumn, and I decided to check in here on a whim. Someone on Xiaohongshu recommended this hotel. The room is not big, but it is enough. The biggest selling point of this Japanese-style hotel is actually the food and beverage, which is very beautiful and exquisite. My companions said it can match the level of Michelin one star. The hotel itself does not have a hot spring, but it provides free tickets to another free hot spring nearby, which makes up for the regret of not being able to soak in the hot spring. The boss is an elderly uncle, friendly and cute, who can speak simple English and has no communication barriers.

I really like the home clothes prepared by the hotel. They are so stylish, stylish and made of comfortable materials. This is the first time I wear hotel clothes to dine! I really want to buy it as home clothes!
