A bit dated and out of the way. Air-conditioning is insufficient in the lobby. But things work OK. View is fine. Breakfast is good and full of options.

It was my first trip to the Kishu Peninsula, and I was amazed by the hot springs and scenery at Ura Hotel. I could see the Pacific Ocean from my room, and it was great to be able to walk from the hotel and experience the super long elevator. The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety of options.

Taking a taxi from Shirahama train station to the hotel costs 2,200 yen, and the bus costs 410 yen per person. If you are a family of three, then definitely take a taxi. The hotel swimming pool is free of charge and does not provide yukata. It seems that you need to buy or rent it yourself. But it doesn’t matter. You can take a bath in the public bathroom without a yukata. The outdoor bath in the bathroom is supposed to be a hot spring, the rest are definitely not.

The room is a Japanese tatami, very spacious, the breakfast is OK, but it is limited to one hour, there is no bathroom in the room, you can only go to the first floor to soak in the hot spring + shower, the hotel is right on the beach, convenient for travel, but you have to take a bus from Shirahama JR Station to the hotel, the distance is only 5.2km, but there are not many buses, so it is not very convenient.

I lived in a Japanese-style room, and the ceiling light could not be turned on. I contacted the front desk for help and it came quickly. The switch for the ceiling light is on the TV cabinet! Not on the wall! It's really hard to find. Plus points: convenient public transportation, close to Zaki-no-Yu, beautiful sea view Minus points: You have to make your own futon, hot spring hotel but no yukata is provided (only one towel) Overall it's good, but it doesn't match the price, and the cost performance is not high. I chose this hotel because I wanted a hotel with "sea view + tatami + hot spring", and only this one met the requirements (there is another cheaper one, but there is no independent bathroom). After staying here, I felt that it would be better to pay more to enjoy better service, or give up one of them and find a cheaper one.

She took the trouble to show us other rooms and tried her best to satisfy us. The hot spring is also very good, and there is ice water to drink at the door. The sea view outside the window is also very good, and you can just see Shirahama Beach.

This time, I stayed in a suite room on the 10th floor for two nights. Almost all the staff are foreigners, but they all work hard and can speak and understand Japanese almost normally, so there was no problem because they were foreigners. However, the curtain in the large public bath is still dirty, and I was surprised that it had been dirty for five weeks and had not been washed, probably because the hotel's executives were not on patrol. The carpet on the floor was also dirty and worn, and this is because it was left to deteriorate over time, but it is a state that cannot be found in a first-class hotel, and it is a shame that they have foreign staff who work hard. *This may be the same everywhere, but this time I encountered a male staff member slacking off again. When I went to the large public bath at 9 o'clock after breakfast, a male staff member was sitting on a chair and playing. When they saw me, they would hurriedly clean up, but last week, a staff member got naked, took his smartphone and went to the open-air bath and talked while bathing, so it seems that male staff members have a habit of slacking off. *There are sauna mats provided, but after checking in I went to the large public bath early to use the sauna, and found a large number of used mats there. They were still there in the same state in the morning, and I thought they probably hadn't been properly washed, so I didn't use the sauna. It seems that executives should be patrolling the area.
