Atour Light Hotel Bell Tower • Kaiyuan Li,

I stayed in Quanzhou for two consecutive days, and my overall experience was fantastic. Everything was perfect, and I highly recommend it! First, the location is absolutely superb, making getting around incredibly convenient. The hotel has a parking lot right downstairs, making parking easy and stress-free. There's also a direct elevator, so you don't have to lug your luggage around unnecessarily, which saves a lot of effort. You just drive up a slope and turn a corner, and you're at the entrance – the access is very smooth. From B1 of the hotel, you can directly access the street. Turn right, and you'll find the Bell Tower; cross an intersection, and you're just a few steps from West Street. Right across the street is a huge area with various eateries, making it a one-stop shop for food, drink, and entertainment. My favorite Aquan Beef restaurant is right next door, and the food is so delicious that I ate there several times during my two-day stay! The room experience was also great. The room type had one double bed and one single bed, offering spacious and comfortable living. It was equipped with a sofa, table, and chairs, making it very pleasant whether you're relaxing with tea or ordering takeout and dining in. The biggest bonus: it's super pet-friendly! You can bring your dog without any restrictions, which is a huge relief for those traveling with pets. The hotel also offers a complimentary Zanhua (flower hairpin) experience. A heads-up and key points for everyone: The Zanhua spot is on West Street and uses artificial flowers, not fresh ones. However, they will style your entire head, not just provide a simple hairpin. Their operating hours end at 7 PM, and the Zanhua needs to be returned, you cannot keep it. Make sure to manage your time accordingly! Also, be sure to make an appointment in advance via WeChat or business card, as previous customers getting makeup and changing clothes can cause significant delays, and you might have to wait a very long time if you just show up. Overall, the hotel is newly renovated and well-equipped. The only minor drawback is that the mattress is too soft. I personally like soft beds, but this one was excessively soft – you just sink right into it. After a tiring day of exploring and eating in Quanzhou, lying down for a long time made my body feel a bit sore. Other than that, there's almost nothing to fault.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout my stay. They provided useful itinerary suggestions, and food recommendations. As a foreign guest, the staff proactively shared their WeChat ID and it’s recommended to share yours as well, as they are cautious about scams. Communication through WeChat was smooth and very helpful. A RMB 200 deposit is required, but as a foreigner there was no issue with the transaction. They were also kind enough to help me operate the washing machine, which I really appreciated. The room was clean and well-kept. The bed was comfortable, and I especially liked the pillow—it suited my preference well. One small thing to note is that it took a bit of time to figure out how to maintain a consistent shower temperature, as it would sometimes be too hot or too cold. Also worth mentioning: part of my room had a low ceiling. You’ll need to be careful when standing up—I bumped my head a few times during my stay 😅. Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable experience with very attentive service. I would still recommend this homestay, especially for travelers who value helpful staff and local guidance.

Wanran Courtyard Hotel

Wanran is a charming Minsu homestay nestled in a beautifully preserved 100-year-old house, surrounded by a walkable neighborhood filled with heritage shophouses, cozy cafes, local eateries, and even a shopping mall. It’s the perfect balance of old-world charm and modern convenience. This family-run homestay — hosted by a lovely couple and their two children — offers a genuine and welcoming experience. The guest room is a renovated part of the old home: clean, comfortable, and equipped with all the essentials. Beyond the nostalgic architecture, what makes this place truly special is the tea room. It’s a hidden gem filled with rare and high-quality teas sourced from various regions. Guests are warmly invited to sit, sip, and chat — not just about tea, but also about culture, stories, and everyday life. Even as a foreigner with only basic Chinese skills, I felt completely at ease spending time in the tea room, exchanging thoughts with the host. Language wasn’t a barrier at all — tea became our shared language. This was my first time staying in a tea house, and it left me with beautiful memories. If you're looking for something authentic, relaxing, and deeply rooted in local life and tea culture, Wanran is a must.

A very nice boss, who waited for us to pick us up from the beginning, and enthusiastically recommended the ancient city attractions and introduced transportation methods. The city of Quanzhou and the people in Quanzhou are comfortable and considerate. I’ll come back if I have the chance~

The hotel room was spacious and very clean, which were two positive aspects of the experience. The only drawback was that the air conditioning only had cooling and no heating, making the room quite cold at night. A special thank you to Ms. Sun at the front desk; after learning of the situation, she immediately brought a heater, and when she discovered it was malfunctioning, she promptly brought a blanket, thoughtfully solving our immediate need for warmth. Her service was superb!

Maybe I happened to encounter a bad environment at that time. I felt that the sheets were not very clean. The white sheets looked yellow, and I did see oil spots on the sheets. The experience was not very good, so I checked out after one night (and thank the store for agreeing to refund me). However, I really felt that my mental energy was exhausted after one night, so my friend and I changed the ticket directly. I hope that the store aunt can pay attention to hygiene, but the store aunt is still very good in communication. It’s just that we didn’t sleep very well and felt tired. It may be because the difference is too big compared with Meizhou Island (of course, it is also due to the price. The more expensive one may be better), so the overall impression of Quanzhou has been reduced. Sorry, the above is just my personal opinion. I really feel a little tired.

Booked the 2208 Guesthouse Kaiyuan Branch for my trip to Quanzhou, and it was a real gem! The location is absolutely fantastic – just a few minutes' walk to Kaiyuan Temple, making it super convenient for exploring the old city and trying local food. The room was clean and cozy, the bedding was super soft, and it had great natural light, making for a very comfortable stay. The host was handsome and incredibly thoughtful. He sent us a travel guide in advance and even helped us with our luggage. He also recommended a local Min Min Travel special tour route. We picked one out, and the driver took us to Luojia Temple and Golden Coast, then brought us back, which was incredibly convenient. The rooftop was the biggest surprise! I woke up early to watch the sunrise over the East and West Pagodas. The moment the morning glow slowly illuminated the twin pagodas was so beautiful I was speechless! I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Quanzhou!

Firstly, I want to emphasise that the hostel staff are amazing - very friendly and helpful. They helped me sort out a problem with my phone, shared their suggestions of places to visit, and helped me upgrade my room too. So 10/10 for the staff. To give a more honest review of the room though: Pros: The shared common room area is very spacious, and a great place to meet new friends. There are games and activities available, plus they often organised free social events like card game nights and movies. The dorm room was relatively spacious, with a desk space too. The beds have good privacy curtains. There are plug sockets by each bed for charging phones etc. Cons: The main issue I have with the dorm rooms is that there is a dedicated bathroom per room. This seems great, until you have a roommate who spends three full hours all morning recolouringtheir hair in there, while the rest of us can't use the toilet or shower. Other than that, I did feel that the location was a bit inconvenient (I had to drag my suitcase through some kind of dirty building site to get there, and it is about 15 mins walk from the main tourist area). Additionally, the beds were very uncomfortable (they've used foam mattesss toppers on wooden boards, with no actual mattress) and didn't have a shelf next to the bed or any storage lockers for bags. Also the hostel didn't provide towels for dorm room guests (which is usually standard). After the issue with the roommate hogging the bathroom (who also snored all night too...) I asked to pay the difference to upgrade to a private room. The hostel happily arranged this without any issues, and even prepared the room for me to move into early. This private room was much better - a proper mattress, towels provided, etc. It was a bit noisy when the neighbour turned on their air conditioning (since the unit was right outside the window), but other than that I have no complaints.

Let’s talk about transportation first: Take a taxi to the Quanzhou hotel and walk to the mansion in five or six minutes. Let’s talk about the surroundings: There are many small restaurants in the surrounding area. It is more than ten minutes away from West Street and the Confucian Temple, and about twenty minutes away from Kaiyuan Temple. You can walk in the alleys to see the history and appreciate the cultural heritage. Detailed description of the mansion: The service staff knows the check-in time before the guests check in, and turns on the electric heater in the room in advance to increase the indoor temperature. Good service 👍 The room is larger than expected. Although the window is a bit small, the seating area and work area are sufficient. Economical price👍 The furnishings in the public areas of the mansion basically retain the ancient home style, fully demonstrating the interactive integration of multiple cultures. Unique style👍 Let’s talk about the shortcomings: There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room on the first floor. It was still raining in Quanzhou in early March, and people almost froze to death, but the mosquitoes were not dead🙄️ The temperature of the hot water was not quite high, and it was not very hot even after being left there for a long time. Because it was quite late, I did not contact the service staff. Maybe other rooms do not have this problem. Cats can be more friendly😄

I went to Quanzhou with my friends and booked a three-bedroom homestay. The location is good, the room is big and very quiet. The bathroom is not very good, a little small, and it is inconvenient for two people to use it at the same time, one to take a shower and the other to blow dry their hair. After all, it is a bit inconvenient to have the toilet sink and the shower together for three rooms. Overall it is not bad, I recommend it.
