4-Star Hotels in Semarang

This hotel has a unique and pleasant interior. The location is very strategic. The rooms are also comfortable and spacious. Generally, the cleanliness is good. However, there were some stains on the bed sheets. We checked, and the bed sheets had already been changed, but the stains were still there after coming from the laundry. Perhaps they could cross-check this with their laundry vendor. Even after we asked for new ones from housekeeping, they were in the same condition. Another minor point for me is the complimentary drinking water. It seems to be water from a dispenser (we don't know if it's refilled or not) served in a jug, not bottled mineral water. That's a bit odd for a 4-star hotel standard. But overall, it's okay.

Room is clean and well maintained. Bathroom is clean and no mould. Room is cleaned daily. TV shows 3 movie channels plus other local and international channels. AC can be controlled via thermostat and cold. Lighting has some switches to control the mood. Buffet breakfast has western, Chinese, Japanese and local Semarang culinary. Overall we are happy with the accommodation and would come back next time.

The hotel is still good even though it is an old hotel. The food for breakfast is not much and limited. Maybe I will only stay here once for breakfast. It is hot in the elevator because there is no air conditioning. Hopefully the hotel can invest in air conditioning in the elevator. I will bring a group to Semarang but because of the breakfast and the elevator, this hotel may not be my choice.

I especially want to praise their breakfast – the variety was impressive, with a wide selection of local Indonesian flavors and Western dishes, all prepared with great care. Well-Equipped Facilities, Though Showing Some Age: The room was spacious, and the bedding was very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. While it's clear the hotel has been around for a while and the decor is more classic and traditional, the overall cleanliness was spotless, and maintenance was excellent. The hotel's pool and gym were also very clean, perfect for relaxing after a busy day.

Another example of a 3.5-star hotel: definitely higher than a 3-star but not a 4-star yet. The location is perfect, walking distance to DP Mall, Lawang Sewu, Pandanaran area, and museums. Breakfast was nice with a changing menu every day and offered a complimentary celebratory dinner for the New Year. Unfortunately, for 2 nights we were disturbed by fellow guests nearby partying so loudly and a broken AC. The hotel arranged a different room for the final night, and this one is fine. The rooftop bar and swimming pool were nice. Gym was functional. For a hotel of this size, it's surprising that they dont have a proper parking area - your car will be parked in nearby buildings where the hotel has an arrangement and it comes with a complimentary and free valet service.

The lobby is so beautiful but not really match with the room situation. Actually I expect more… poor cleanliness, carpet looks old and also the AC knob looks so dirty. And very disappointed, when I took my breakfast, they are still using many broken bowl 🫣🫣🫣 Out of standard… I think the hotel should improve this problem… I am not sure to return for the second stay…

Had a great stay at this hotel. The room was clean, comfy, and well-maintained. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was also delicious with a good variety. Overall, a pleasant and satisfying experience.

Overall that's good... Only infant f lobby image no good, because car driving in and out, road narrow.....central driving in to car, maybe no good according to Cina ” fengshui ”...little comment.

We stayed during Ied Mubarak holiday for 4 days/3 nights in April 2025. We booked 2 connecting rooms for my family (4 persons). I chose this hotel because it has swimming pool and gym, we used to exercise daily. In fact, the gym was closed for long term maintenance. It should be declared and crossed out from the hotel facility so we noticed from beginning, not surprised on site. The rooms at a glance were ok but when we looked to the interior were lousy. The curtain, gordyn, and bed lamps, dirty and stained. My children room has no curtain, so direct sunshine and very hot during the day. The towel seemed already used for years. not soft, looks lousy and the color not pure white as normally hotel towel. Each room provided safety box but no function at all. if you see the direction on the safety box (see the photo), it supposed has red button inside the box but no button at all. The safety box used 4 battery. In my room has only 2 batteries out of 4 and already expired since March 2018. My children' room has 4 battery but also not functioned. the button numbers and keys cant be pressed so we cant keep important and valuable items inside it. The swimming pool were crowded and the water was dirty. the hotel supposed to overall cleaning to the pool due to holiday seasons but the water obviously dirty. The parking lot is low maintenance, dirty, and rubbish everwhere. the Horison Ultima was only 3 years old last December 2024 as I saw from the stickwerck at lobby. The hotel was Star Hotel and changed to Horison Ultima. The parking lot was narrow and limited. For location is ok, near Java Mall. good for morning walk. the hotel staffs were polite and fast response. the amenities for 4* hotel is good enough. the mini fridge in the room is ok as well as the Aircon. If I may advise the management, please take serious attention to the cleanliness and maintenance also room refurbishment to the lousy interior inside as top priority.

The breakfast is horrible, bland porridge, only lettuce for the salad, there's pasta but its macaroni covered in small red sauce with no taste, tables doesnt get cleaned properly, 2 people on the egg corner only serving egg with salt, no toppings, no veggies, just pure egg + salt, main course got no variation, noodle rice 1 type of veg, a fish, and chicken. To access the restaurant you need to go through the pool, cool way of thinking, not practical when theres a lot of children playing with the water, parents and nannys sitting on the side.
