OOppa LimTucked into the foothills of Hakone, in a quiet village along Yugawara Parkway, we found this small villa surrounded by greenery and the sound of a nearby stream. But what stayed with me wasn’t the villa—it was us. The kids ran straight to the deck, reaching out to catch the falling cherry blossom petals as they drifted onto the water, arguing over who caught the most before they slipped through their fingers. Someone left the door open, letting the cool air drift in. By evening, we were all gathered upstairs, half-talking, half-listening to the steady rhythm of the stream below. No one reached for their phones. Later that night, we slept with the windows open. You could hear the water, constant and calming, like it had always been there. It’s strange—places fade, but moments like this don’t. The quiet, the laughter, the feeling of having nowhere else to be. That’s what I’ll remember.

LLamlamSinOur stay at the ancient and modern hotel in Xianshiyuan was perfect. After booking, the hotel immediately contacted to confirm the check-in time and diet preferences. This meticulous and intimate service was impressive. Due to the small number of rooms, the staff is very familiar with each guest, often can greet the name kindly, making people feel at home. The hotel is located in the mountains of Xianshiyuan, the environment is quiet; the hotel also raises three cute sheep, as if in a warm farm. The spare parts in the room are practical and intimate, and the details are thoughtful; if the weather is clear, you can overlook Mount Fuji from the room. The hot springs and bathing facilities are a good place to relax. Dining, one berth and two meals: dinner is exquisite French cuisine, with excellent ideas and presentation; breakfast is traditional Japanese cuisine, refreshing and local, and both meals are very satisfying. Overall, this stay left deep and good memories, is an ideal choice for a holiday to Hakone.

GGuest UserAn absolutely perfect onsen and kaiseki experience! This is definitely a hotel I'd love to revisit. Upon check-in, they offered hot towels and snacks while I filled out the forms, which was such a warm gesture. The lobby boasts an unbeatable mountain view outside the windows. The interiors are elegant and understated. Every dish was exquisite. The Japanese breakfast, in particular, was the most elaborate I've ever had, with over 10 items including various small dishes, steamed egg, tofu, sashimi, seasoned rice, a seafood hot pot, yogurt, nuts, and fruit. You can choose between Japanese or Western breakfast. I'm so glad I picked the Japanese option. Both dinner and breakfast were served by the same intern, who was incredibly friendly, polite, and patiently explained each dish. She even left a thank you note when I checked out – so sweet!

AAnonymous UserHaving visited Japan over ten times, this hotel was a huge disappointment 😞😞 **Service was completely subpar:** Throughout our stay, we encountered numerous service issues. For example, my passport was photocopied multiple times, and water wasn't proactively offered during meals. The most outrageous incident happened when we were about two kilometers up a mountain near the hotel. It was already dark, and the path back was a difficult winding trail. Feeling unsafe, we asked if the hotel could help call a taxi or provide a shuttle. They flat-out told us, ”We don't handle that; you can ask a roadside restaurant for help...” (The manager offered a verbal apology the next day 🙄). **Facilities:** The rooms are a bit old and maintenance is average, but they were clean enough. **Food:** If you stay for two consecutive days, the second day's breakfast and dinner are quite good. The first day's was not so great. **Onsen (Hot Springs):** All the hot springs are indoors; there's no real outdoor open-air bath. All the springs are quite small, but private baths are available at no extra charge. **Positives:** There are some complimentary beverages, Haagen-Dazs ice cream in the afternoon, and a selection of yukata (bathrobes) in different colors. Overall, it definitely doesn't justify the 6,000 yen per night price tag 😑

GGuest UserYes, the hotel provides breakfast and dinner. The Japanese food is exquisite and the service is also very good. If the price/performance ratio is higher, it will be more enjoyable. I will go there again in the future. The private hot spring is very good and the service is very good.

GGuest UserThe hotel's shuttle service made getting around incredibly easy. We pre-booked it on Ctrip, and the shuttle to/from Odawara was right on schedule. It also offered flexible pickups and drop-offs at several attractions. After returning to the hotel, a soak in the hot spring was the perfect way to unwind and wash away the day's fatigue.

CCat on the logThe place looks like the pictures. It’s about 20 mins away by bus from the hakoneyumoto station. We used the baggage delivery service at the train station (1000 yen per piece for regular size baggage) and when we checked in, our bags were in the room already. The staff is very nice and helpful. We’re thankful for the shuttle to the nearby bus station. The food is great. The onsen is very relaxing. We had a great time at this place. Definitely will stay again when I visit Hakone.

MMarioaidahaiThis hotel is self-service, but it's absolutely fantastic. First off, the location and the view from the window are unbeatable. It features authentic Hakone hot spring water directly to your room, and you can definitely smell the sulfur. You can also BBQ on the terrace while enjoying a foot bath and a drink. It's perfect for a longer stay during your vacation.

XXiaopangxieStayed at gen fufu. This hotel is the last one in Hakone. Fortunately, it is the last one because it is a bit far from the attractions in Hakone. Although it is only 10 kilometers, the transportation in Hakone is not convenient. The hotel is located halfway up the mountain. The bed is a bit too soft. The bathroom is stuffy because there is no ventilation. The temperature of the hot spring is high. There are water droplets on the entire bathroom wall. Overall, if this hotel is located in the city center, it can be considered. The breakfast is Western, but the taste is very ordinary. Although the dinner is a one-star Michelin hotel, it is still a little disappointing. The only classics nearby are the reed marshes and the Hakone Nemoto Hot Spring Town. Friends who come to Hakone for the first time should stay near Gora.
