Stayed in the hotel for the 90s rave night. It wasn’t a rave it was just a disco. Waited 20 mins for somebody to come to reception so we could check in Only one toilet roll given in the room Coffee was stone cold in the morning and we had to wait nearly 40 mins for breakfast

Went for my friends 60th lunch time , A lot of money spent big group of us , did not feel staff , went the extra mile food was ok , Went again afternoon tea , with friends over 20 of us , presentation was poor , each had a plant with sandwiches no extra trimmings then cakes on slate boards which looked a bit better, if 2 went for afternoon tea would be on a cake stand and made to look lovely felt let down !

When it's a steak night, you need to serve great steak. Sadly three out of four of ours were overdone and dry. To their credit they re-cooked the steaks, a little rare the second time around but far better. They gave us some discount for the delay and we passed on desserts.

Our wedding was 8 months ago. My partner was happy that there would be ‘local ales on tap’ for him and his real ale drinking guests. He even asked Marie and the Bar Manager if he could request a specific ale. He was told that he could and the Bar Manager would accommodate. Come the day of our wedding we were told there was NO REAL ALE on the premises, neither what my partner had requested or any other ale on tap despite this being promised in the wedding brochure. This was a HUGE disappointment to my partner and his guests. We don’t know the reason for this, whether the wedding guests the day before drank all the beer or someone failed to order, but we were led to believe fault lay at the door of the Bar Manager who was not on duty that day. Staff went out to buy bottles of beer but that did not compensate for the lack of real ale at all. (We were also pulled away from our guests when we were asked to hand back the key to the honeymoon suite which came as part of our package. We had to convince someone at the other end of a phone, via a staff member, that this was the case. We managed it eventually). The food was lovely as were the staff and the surroundings. However, 8 months after the wedding I am still plagued by my partner’s disappointment that he didn’t have the wedding he wanted and my memories of our wedding day are tarnished by this. I try not to think about it at all, but hope this review will lay some ghosts to rest.

We made a last minute meal booking for our daughters 18th birthday for 25 people, the food was fantastic, the staff really looked after us. The setting in the restaurant was just perfect. Having lived down the road for many years we’d never been but will certainly be returning!

Bridal suite - no heating in their room when they retired to bed in the main house. Wet carpet in there as well, such that clothes could be wrung out next morning. Room for best man and wife had no heating either on the night of the wedding. Management unresponsive to registered letter in October and unresponsive to email complaint in December. MD unresponsive in January. Think carefully about booking this venue, nice photos, soft sell, £9000 thank you very much but they do not respond after the event with any problems you might raise. We got “thank you for letting us know” from reception when told about the bridal suite and that’s all. Note, that there are no management names on the website, so there is no contact responsible. I suggested that they could give the bride and groom and best man and his wife dinner as compensation which I thought reasonable but they never responded. Written by the brides father January 2024.

The rooms are fitted with an emergency light! The light is right over the bed and had a bright green Led tell tail lamp on all the time. Sleep is not ready, and if there should be a power cut at it will trigger the light to come on. Not sure why I would care, and even less sure I would be unable to find the door to the room. Restaurant was also disappointing.

I chose stanwick hotel to celebrate my 30th birthday and I’m so happy I did! From the start Lizzie and mandy were brilliant to deal with, working in the event industry myself I have high expectations and they exceeded all of them. From the room set up organisation and food with the wow factor! it really was the perfect evening and I can’t thank stanwick hotel enough !
