The Inn on the Moor Hotel

We enjoyed a wonderful meal here last night. We both had the chicken Kiev parmesan. It was presented beautifully, and it was delicious! It came with fries, salad, coleslaw and garlic mayo. I think it was Kirsty who served us, she was lovely, as was the barmaid and the young man who brought our cutlery. The pub seemed to have a mix of locals and tourists and all seemed to be treated the same . I ended up getting a little box as I couldn't finish it all ! Great place, great value for money and great food Thankyou

Booked for New Years Eve as a change to staying at home, we like the Egton area for walking so booked in for just the one night, and chose to eat in the restaurant on the evening for a NYE set menu at £65pp. We arrived at 1.30ish after walking 7 miles to Glaisdale and back to Egton Bridge and asked if they were serving food (sandwiches etc), we were bluntly told no due to staff shortages. We went to the Wheatsheaf nearby and had a light lunch - which was lovely. On checking into our room I immediately noticed the grime and that it could clearly benefit from a good deep clean (see pictures). There was still soap in the shower from previous guests, the coffee machine was dirty and old. We had our meal after drinks in the bar, food was really nice, then there was a band in the bar - playing the heaviest rock music imaginable, not ideal in a small bar area! We stayed up until 12.15ish then decided after a full day we'd go to bed. Sadly for us our room (no.2) was directly above the bar, where the band had now packed up but the manager Craig was playing the music from Alexa so VERY loud anx by now it was after 1.30am. A lady in the room next to ours went down to ask if they could turn down the volume - he was rude and obnoxious stating it was NYE and it was to be expected, he was quite frankly threatening and it made me uncomfortable to hear how he spoke to her. He was shouting up the stairs at her which was totally unacceptable. About an hour later the music was still blaring, she again went down and I joined her, we were told the music could go on until maybe 5am ?? It seemed to fade about 3am, which was still far too late for paying guests, who had paid for bed and breakfast, not to party. We were chatting to a lady in the bar who told us she is thinking of buying the property as it is for sale - I really hope she does and puts money into it to modernise and clean it - and maybe some staff training on customer service.

Though a bit remote, Raithwaite Sandsend provided a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of larger cities. Sandsend and Whitby are within walking distance (though the latter is a good 30 minute walk; a taxi is best). Several seaside paths are within 15 minutes of the hotel. The hotel grounds are lovely as is the staff who were very polite and friendly. All meals we ate the hotel were excellent. I enjoyed the common areas with various types of seating, games and fireplaces. The bar lacks character and warmth, unlike most other areas of the hotel. If the seating and decor is changed, I suspect it would make a world of difference.
La Rosa Hotel

'Victorian Seaside Fun' perfectly captures the vibe of La Rosa! Such a beautifully detailed and quirky gem, brimming with character and soul. You're immersed in their eclectic collection of antiques and oddities as soon as you step off the pavement. Everywhere you look, there's something interesting to see, read, explore, and enjoy. The cocktail library is such a treat, too. We felt truly spoiled having such a cool and cozy bar just downstairs! The music was always on point 👌🏻 Now, the rooms... I've never been so reluctant to leave a hotel room. We stayed in 'Stoker' on our first night, and 'La Rosa' on our second... We were only supposed to stay one night, but fell in love with the hotel and had to stay another night! Both rooms are dreamy. The beds are crazy comfortable. The views of the sea and the Abbey were so special. The large bathtubs and complimentary bubble bath were a very welcome touch... The water was hot, and the bubbles were big. What more could you ask for? And yes, two people will fit in them 😁 The staff were every much as part of the charm. Everyone we spoke to was friendly, personable, and relaxed. We were well taken care of and made to feel right at home, without being unnecessarily fussed over or interrupted. It felt like the staff immediately understood what we wanted from our stay and delivered it seamlessly. Just perfect! Needless to say, we loved everything about this hotel and can't wait to visit again. Thank you, La Rosa, for making our stay in Whitby so special! 🥰
Saxonville Hotel

Very rare do you give 5 point reviews. This place shows up a lot of 4 / 5 star hotels. All the good: Location - 2 minutes walk from the sea, 10 minutes walk to the centre. Staff - A courtesy call 24 hours prior to arrival to ensure everything was ok. They were spot on throughout. Parking - Available outside the hotel at a cost of under £5 for 24 hours. That is a bargain nowadays. Hotel & rooms - Everything was immaculate and everywhere within the hotel was clean, tidy and felt fresh. The room was a good size and it felt cosy. The dining room both appearance and the service from the staff was by fare above and beyond 3 star quality. The bar was available and the draft beers were of a good taste. Breakfast - Very good. Complemented by the service. 1 point minor point which doesn’t alter how good it was - If I was staying more than 1 night a small mini fridge in the room would of been ideal for keeping drinks cold on hot days. Verdict - If I returned to Whitby again I would not bother tying anywhere else. It had everything required and it was above the standard that I was expecting. I initially thought it was expensive for a 1 night stay, however I was not disappointed and it was value for money.
