Cons: Being so central means street noise at night, and facilities are pretty basic. Great for a quick, budget stay!"

"I only now stay at this hotel when I am in Zagreb. From the moment you walk through the main doors and into the reception area, you are warmly acknowledged and greeted. You are a valued guest and are treated like one. Check in process is smooth and seamless. The room is well-appointed and given the time of the year, cosy and warm. The bed wa super comfortable and the pillows offered enough support to ensure a good nights' sleep. The bathroom was spotless and the heated towel rail was much appreciated. If you are so inclined, the mini bar is stocked and there is also excellent room service. The buffet breakfast is sensational- the best in Zagreb. Something for everyone and for all dietary requirements. The one thing that always impresses me here is the fact that all employees and acknowledge their guests- from the room attendants to the kitchen staff. I will alway come back to the Astoria Zagreb. Thank you for looking after me."

"It was great that it was super close to Zagreb train station, within a 10-minute walk! The staff at the counter were also very friendly! The interior was clean, but it looked a bit dated. There are men's and women's restrooms on the same floor, and the women's restroom had two shower stalls together. However, there is no shampoo or body wash, so make sure to bring your own!"

"I won’t lie, when we arrived at 1am I genuinely thought, where the hell have we booked after having never been or even heard of Zagreb to be honest. But I was so wrong. We stayed in the hotel part of Stay Swanky, the room was huge and had everything we needed (only comment would be a better hair dryer and milk for the coffee) when searching for accommodation for our trip, I wanted a pool so we could relax. There aren’t many places in Zagreb with pools, so this was an instant draw to stay here. I did think after looking at pictures that it might be a very young vibe and we may feel we’re on an 18-30s holiday but that was fine. Again I was very wrong! The pool area was super chilled, there’s only enough places to sit/lay so it feels quite intimate. Theres a buzzer to ask the staff to bring drinks which was great as if you wanted to go to the bar, you had to get changed into your clothes which would have been a pain when wet, but I get it. The prices are really reasonable too, which is refreshing as we once went to a hotel in Greece and for 2 lagers and a water it was €18, here its €8! Now onto the food…..possibly the best Thai food I’ve ever had, so much so we went twice on our 4 day trip. Again, really reasonable too, in a really trendy and laid back setting too. If you want something quick and even cheaper, there’s so many places to grab something to eat literally outside the hotel (also an amazing kebab shop across the road to the right, great at 1am 🤣) The staff are all lovely and really helpful, Swanky, you really have something special here. It’s a little oasis outside of the hustle and bustle of the centre but not too far to dip in and out. Would we return, 1000% and we will be back again but I have a feeling we’ll have a few friends joining us after we’ve raved about it so much!!"

"Super satisfied with the hotel, full of details! ! ! The room smells good, the pillows also smell good, the bedding is very comfortable, and the shampoo and shower gel are from Rituals. The balcony view is unparalleled and comfortable The best thing is breakfast! So perfect! There is also a mini spa sauna and mini gym on the first floor, surprise!"

"It was mixed bag. On my first day, I asked reception about bikes or scooters to rent in the city. the girl on reception reacted like it was an unusual question. She said no there wasn’t any and no one asked her this before. I was surprised. An hour later I not only walked out to find hire bikes everywhere in Zagreb but a flier on e bike hire in the hostel itself. Staff training 101! Second was breakfast - the milk jug where the milk is decanted smells like gone off milk. Like properly yucky. I checked with reception that the milk may be off and the girl didn’t seem to like my suggestion. I felt her response quite rude but I am British. Another carton was put down swiftly but with no means to open it. Me and another guest battled with it for 15 minutes with a blunt knife. I later find out why the milk always smells rancid is because it’s not washed between use. I went for a late night glass of water to see the empty jug unwashed sitting on the side and yes - smelling of gone off milk. Not pleasant. Other than that many of the staff were pleasant and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable and hostel is centrally placed."

"Receptionist Darko is so helpful & friendly. Whatever inquiries you have he will help you. Thankful he helped us get a taxi to the airport for a good price. The staffs at the Butler restaurant are so helpful especially Maria-always with a happy face to greet diners. They are all accomodating in helping you choose the recommended cuisine to try. Location is very convenient to public transport. We tried to help the environment by not asking for change of towels everyday but the housekeeping are always eager to change our towels. Toilet in the room is very spacious. Breakfast is very abundant- a good start for the day. Electric sockets are limited in the room. Good location. Hope aircon is always working as sometimes not enough for a hot day. Windows can be opened but at night noises from the street. Unusual flavours but yummy pizzas for dinner..Not many English speaking channels on tv."

"It's a nice hosetel with friendly staff. Everything is clean and they have towel with it (which is rare for hostel)! The only problem is that there's club in the basement so there will be so music at night. The hostel however offers earplugs for u so it's okay :)"

"Like motel, some insects inside the room and need to borrow insecticide to spray the room. Breakfast is good. Environment is ok as it is a residential area and you won’t hear the airplane’s noise. The restaurant in the hotel is also a good choice to eat dinner. Helpful staff . No lift for second and third floor."
