Introduction

Before ancient stages glittering with ceramic mosaics, immerse in six centuries of Teochew opera elegance. Watch the glass-beaded headdresses of female roles tremble with melodic phrases, and comedic actors flutter fans to spark laughter. Though the dialect may escape you, the flowing sleeves in The Story of Liujing convey longing, while clashing weapons in battle scenes exude loyalty. After the curtain falls, try mimicking the elusive "Living Fifth Tone" with your tongue, carrying home an echo of China's oldest operatic traditions. In ancient Teochew courtyard theaters, amid the fragrance of Gongfu tea, listen to six centuries of Lingnan's elegant melodies. Renowned as the "Flower of the South," Chaozhou Opera enchants with lyrical vocals, delicate movements and exquisite costumes - each scene unfolds like a living Lingnan painting.

Chaozhou!! Guangji Bridge!!

Chaozhou!! Guangji Bridge!!

Chaozhou!! Guangji Bridge!! The slide loft is so comfortable. Chaozhou! A healing homestay that I thought only existed in movies... Floor-to-ceiling windows ✔️ Loft with a giant screen projector ✔️ Right next to Guangji Bridge The slide is modern and fits young people's aesthetics! ✨ I love the location! It's a 5-minute walk to Hanwengong Temple and Guangji Bridge, and there are plenty of places to eat and play nearby. The light show at 8 pm is amazing. The charm of the old town and modern decor are perfectly combined. ✨ I love the modern style! The room is well-designed, with a round bed, river view, and a large projector screen. The room is located in the scenic area but is very quiet, and the soundproofing is good. The river view from the balcony is stunning, and you can enjoy the view and the breeze. ✨ The facilities are great! The homestay uses micro cement throughout, and walking barefoot on the floor feels like being at home. The room has a giant screen projector, a bathroom with separate wet and dry areas, and a free drying room. The small ocean ball slide ☀️ is great for kids. I'll definitely bring my kids to stay in the slide room again next time. 💕

Gorgeous 12th century bridge

When visiting the old Town of Chaozhou is a good idea to be at this old bridge during sunset because in my opinion is when it looks the prettiest There is a small fee to get into the bridge and see the boats closer, the interesting thing is that the bridge isn't compete by itself but made up by the smaller boats that arrived there, a very innovative way to collect the goods from other towns. Chaozhou Guangji Bridge | The real "burning bridges"

Chaozhou Guangji Bridge | The real "burning bridges"

Guangji Bridge, one of the four ancient bridges in China, is also the first drawbridge. The bridge is connected every morning and disconnected at five or six in the afternoon. Guangji Bridge has two ticket gates, tickets can be purchased on both sides, one is outside the water gate coming out of Paifang Street, and the other is on the side of Hanwen Gong Temple. Transportation: Self-driving (Didi): Because there are a lot of people on Paifang Street, it may not be easy to find a parking spot, you may have to drive to the side of Han Gong Temple. Bus: Chaozhou buses are not punctual, not very convenient, it is recommended to check the platform~ Tricycle: If you come from the urban area of Chaozhou, you can choose to take a tricycle, very comfortable, 5/10 yuan. 🎫Tickets (stop selling at five in the afternoon) Adults 20 yuan, free for those under 1.2m Half price for minors/elderly/students... "Chaozhou's eight scenic spots are good and romantic, eighteen shuttle boats and twenty-four continents, twenty-four towers and twenty-four styles, two cattle and one slip" 🧸There are different Chaozhou intangible cultural heritage displays or sales on the tower, such as wood carving, embroidery, clay sculpture, etc.~ 🎐The cattle is at the entrance on the side of the water gate There are a lot of people on weekends, especially tour groups, you can rub a tour guide to learn a little about the related history and culture~

Sufficient 2D/1N to Chaozhou

Visit if you’ve got the time & a 2D/1N will be sufficient. It’s a 2.30 hour train ride from GZ. Of course the highlight would be the Guangji Bridge as well as Paifang walking street. Other than that, it’s a pretty relax & chill town. I was told there’s a light show on the bridge at 8pm however we were disappointed that there wasn’t a show when we were there during weekdays. The locals mentioned that occasionally the show only happens during weekends. But still worthy to visit and then a walk around Paifang street to have your meals should be considered. If you like hotpot and you enjoy eating beef, then you must eat here. We also tried their dessert, boba tea and local juices. In addition, we got souvenirs and snacks on this street because it’s unique - assortments of preserved prunes & cookies! #chaozhou #Guangjibridge #Paifangwalkingstreet

China's Most Magical Ancient Bridge: Burning Bridges

China's Most Magical Ancient Bridge: Burning Bridges

In the ancient city of Chaozhou, there is a bridge with a thousand-year history called Guangji Bridge😜. This is the real-life version of burning bridges, and it is one of China's four famous ancient bridges, along with Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, Luoyang Bridge in Quanzhou, and Lugou Bridge in Beijing👏. It looks like a beautiful long rainbow lying across the Han River, opening and closing for over 800 years, standing firm like a loyal old friend, witnessing the changes of time😃. Stepping onto Guangji Bridge, the stone slabs underfoot seem to whisper to me, telling stories of the past. The marks on the stone slabs, worn by time, seem to record the footsteps of many people from ancient times to the present, carrying their various emotions—joyful, sad, happy, and sorrowful😔. Each stone slab is like a thick old book, inscribed with stories of time, some filled with vicissitudes, others with glory🌟. A gentle breeze blows, the river surface shimmering, complementing the bridge, creating an incredibly beautiful picture🤩

Avoid the holiday crowds, it's especially suitable for a family trip✌ 1⃣ Walking distance to Paifang Street in Chaozhou Ancient City, Guangji Bridge/Kaiyuan Temple are all within a 10-minute walk🚶. In the morning, you can visit the century-old arcade buildings in your slippers, and late at night, beef ball kway teow is always available~ 2⃣ The room facilities are excellent, with full five-star service🌟. The complete set of toiletries is super convenient to use, and the soundproofing is also great. I slept soundly at night, and the bed is very soft and comfortable.
