Silk Road Origin, Hanfu Heritage: Tongxiang, as a famous historical and cultural city in the south of the Yangtze River, has a long history with Hanfu. In ancient times, there was the Silk Road, and Tongxiang was an important silk producing area, providing Hanfu with the softest and most beautiful silks and satins. The Hanfu here inherits the gentleness and elegance of the Jiangnan water town. The light silk fans and flowing silk ribbons are embroidered with delicate emotions, showing the unique elegance of the ancient Jiangnan style.

Waterside town, Hanfu scenery: Walking in Tongxiang Wuzhen, the bluestone road, the leisurely river, the quaint wooden bridge, everywhere is the natural show of Hanfu. Wearing Hanfu, holding an oil-paper umbrella, swaying in the water lane by boat, it seems to have traveled through thousands of years and transformed into a beauty from the south of the Yangtze River. Or in the ancient town of Puyuan, between the pink walls and black tiles, Hanfu and the quiet atmosphere of the ancient town blend together, every move is a scene, and the photos taken have their own ink painting artistic conception.

Craftsmanship, ultimate enjoyment: Local Hanfu merchants in Tongxiang focus on details, and makeup artists are well aware of the gentle characteristics of Jiangnan women. The curved eyebrows, light pink makeup, and exquisite hairpins and sachets show the charm of Hanfu to the fullest. The photography team is good at capturing the light and shadow of the water town, using the bridge as a frame and the water as a mirror to freeze the beautiful moments. From clothing selection to finished delivery, the one-stop service allows you to immerse yourself in the wonderful world of Hanfu without any worries.

Come to Tongxiang to experience Hanfu, just like embarking on a poetic journey of tracing roots and immersing yourself in the water town, and feel the unique charm of Hanfu in the ancient rhyme and tenderness.

Pretty historical scenery, located at South of Yangtze River. it is a great place with old architecture and great history. It’s crowded with tourist and locals, recommend to find a tour guide in case you are lost in the town. we get to taste their Chinese wine at their wine distillery workshop and able to purchase too! there is also Chinese opera for 30mins in the middle of the town. The town is also famous for their silk production and manufacturing, unlike the modern days, we are able to see the process of making silk by hands and they hang the fabric out under the sun at the open space. Totally a historical place worth visiting! 👍 #passionpassport #china #wuzhen

Wuzhen Xizha Scenic Area.

Wuzhen Xizha Scenic Area.

Xizha is located on Wuzhen West Street, adjacent to the ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and has a highway directly to Jiangsu, Suzhou, and Tongxiang City, making it very convenient to travel. Unlike Dongzha, which is mainly for sightseeing, Xizha is mainly for business tourism and leisure vacations. Xizha Street adheres to the concept of "protecting and utilizing historical buildings and reshaping the functions of historical streets." Compared with the first phase of the protection and development project, the protection and development of the second phase of Xizha Scenic Area is more complete and thorough, and people, the environment, nature, and buildings are more harmonious. Xizha Scenic Area covers an area of 4.92 square kilometers, with more than 9,000 meters of crisscrossing rivers, a beautiful environment, and requires a ferry to enter and exit. There are 72 ancient bridges, and the density of rivers and the number of stone bridges are the highest among ancient towns in China. The scenic area preserves 250,000 square meters of exquisite Ming and Qing buildings, and the Xizha Old Street, which runs through the east and west of the scenic area, is 1.8 kilometers long, with riverside pavilions stretching for more than 1.8 kilometers on both sides.

Tongxiang Puyuan

Tongxiang Puyuan

The team that created Wuzhen has another masterpiece - Puyuan Fashion Ancient Town, which is less commercial and more suitable for leisure and vacation. Puyuan is much larger than Wuzhen and is very worth visiting. The service of the Pu Jin Hotel opposite the ancient town is very good, the taste of the restaurant's dishes are all good, living here, you can enter the ancient town scenic area unlimited times, very convenient. Especially recommend the pan-fried dumplings on Jiaxing Xiexi Street, very characteristic😋

Exploring Wuzhen Water Town: Tradition and History

Wuzhen Water Town in Zhejiang Province is a stunning glimpse into traditional Chinese life. The town is renowned for its picturesque canals, ancient stone bridges, and well-preserved wooden houses. One unique attraction is the outdoor soy sauce workshop. Here, you can see traditional methods of soy sauce production and even taste some freshly made. It’s a fascinating insight into local culinary traditions. Another highlight is the Marriage Museum, which offers a deep dive into Chinese wedding customs and traditions. It’s filled with artifacts and exhibits that showcase the evolution of marriage practices over time. For a quick look at historical practices, visit the Chinese Foot Binding Museum. This museum provides an in-depth look at the controversial practice of foot binding, with detailed exhibits and historical context. In addition to these museums, don’t miss the chance to enjoy a scenic canal boat ride, stroll through ancient alleys, and explore the Wuzhen Museum, which highlights the town’s rich history. Wuzhen Water Town was a day tour from Shanghai where I got the perfect blend of history, culture, and beautiful scenery in this summer season. #summerdestinations

Visit Wuzhen

Visit Wuzhen

Wuzhen is divided into East and West Zones. The West Zone has been renovated and is larger than the East Zone. The East Zone can be explored in half a day, while the West Zone is suitable for an overnight stay. Enjoy the night view in the evening, and take a walk on the stone-paved roads in the quiet of the early morning. There is a free shuttle bus between the East and West Zones, so buying a joint ticket allows you to visit both. After checking into the West Zone, you can go to the scenic area service desk to register for facial recognition, which then allows unlimited access to the scenic area during your stay. Recommended accommodations: Zhao Ming Book Residence or Wuzhen Guesthouses. Jiangnan's water towns are perfect for leisurely strolls. When tired, buy a boat ticket and gently rock along, viewing the ancient town from a different perspective. The West Zone has a water market: in the morning, it serves breakfast for guests with a variety of options available for order and pickup via QR code. In the evening, it resembles an open-air night market, suitable for spring and summer. However, consumption within the scenic area is expensive... basically double the price.

Nühong Street: A Photographer's Delight

#favouriteitinerary Located on the south side of Xishi River, Nühong Street features long beauty seats along the riverside, offering a wide and open view. Instead of queuing up for photos on Xizha Main Street, head to Nühong Street for even more picturesque and stunning shots. Personal Opinion: In my opinion, Nühong Street provides an excellent alternative for photography enthusiasts. The expansive views and serene atmosphere make it a perfect spot for capturing beautiful and memorable photos.

Wuzhen

Wuzhen

Wuzhen is located at the northern end of Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, and is known as one of the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River along with Zhouzhuang, Tongli, Luxun, Xitang, and Nanxun. It has completely preserved the appearance and layout of the ancient water town from the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period, with streets formed by rivers, bridges connecting streets, houses built along the river, and the integration of water and town. The local residents still live in these old houses. Wuzhen is known as the 'land of fish and rice, the mansion of silk', and is a model of the 'small bridges, flowing water, and households' in the water towns of the south of the Yangtze River.
