As a brilliant and unique flower of Jiangnan culture, Suzhou Pingtan is well-known at home and abroad for its unique artistic charm and profound cultural heritage. The performance of Suzhou Pingtan is usually completed by two artists, one of whom plays the sanxian and is responsible for the accompaniment; the other holds the pipa, plays and sings, and intersperses with narration, telling touching stories one after another. These stories are often taken from ancient legends, folk tales and historical allusions. Through the vivid interpretation of the artists, the audience is brought into a world full of emotions and wisdom. The singing of Pingtan is beautiful and melodious, with melodious and graceful melodies. It has the softness and delicacy of the Jiangnan water town, and does not lose its unique artistic charm. The lyrics of Pingtan contain rich historical knowledge and life philosophy, allowing the audience to be influenced and enlightened by culture while being entertained.

Chinese Aesthetics·Suzhou Gardens

Chinese Aesthetics·Suzhou Gardens

Location: Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden Every step reveals a scene so exquisitely beautiful that it defies description. One cannot help but marvel at the sophisticated aesthetic of the ancients. A gentle breeze wafts through the garden, and the crabapple blossoms sway like little pink bells in the wind. Paired with the garden's framed views, they fill the scene with the colors of spring in the Jiangnan region. Warm spring sunlight is refracted by the lake's surface, Casting shimmering golden reflections on the ancient walls of the garden. In an instant, Suzhou transforms into the poetic and picturesque city of Gusu as depicted in paintings. This is what Li Qingzhao wrote about in her poetry: "I ask the person rolling up the screen, but he says the crabapple remains the same. Do you know, do you know? It should be that the green is plump and the red slender." Pro tip: Be sure to choose a sunny day, the feeling is completely different!

The Venice of the East 🛶 🏮

One of my favorite pastimes for when I visit the Pingjiang Lu, is to watch these people row down and up this amazing canal. these waterways are located in the beautiful city of Suzhou in China and Suzhou’s is popularly known as the Venice of the east. why is it known as that, well that’s because of it's many water canals and bridges around the city! fun fact, more than 42% of the city is covered in water. scattered across the city you’re gonna see so many of these canals and waterways in different spots and this particular location is no different. Here are some of the amazing photos that I got while exploring this spot.#suzhou #urbanexplorer #awesomepic #ancienttowns #ancientarchitecture #suzhoutravel #suzhoulandmark

Charming Suzhou !

Suzhou Museum 🏯An appointment is needed to enter the museum , it is advisable to book the appointment at least two weeks in advance as this is a popular spot in Suzhou and the appointment slots are booked up really quickly. 🚆I live in suzhou , so I'm not able to recommended hotels located near the museum . Traveling to Suzhou from a another city , I'd say arrive at Suzhou Railway Station and then get a didi to the Museum . 🚶🏾♀️🚶🏾♀️I can say, it's a nice idea for a day trip for those who live within Jiangsu. The silk museum and The Humble Administrator Garden, are within close proximity , one could visit at least two of these locations on the same day . The metro line 2 is about 10mins walk from the Museum . ⏰️To view all the displays plus take a few pictures might take around 3 hrs. Do stay until evening , when the lights come on , the view is amazing then ! I'd say book the 4pm appointment. It will be a bit crowded at that time , but it really is really hard to avoid the crowd ,despite the time of day or night. 👁 Things you'll see inside : Porcelain bowls from the Ming Dynasty 1403 A.D., Nephrite Ornaments from the Qing Dynasty 1644, Silk Embroideries, the pride of Suzhou, among other beautiful well preserved artifacts. Happy travels ! #staycation #historicallandmarks #urbanexplorer

Zhuozhengyuan

Zhuozhengyuan

Zhuozhengyuan is one of the representative and the most famous classic Chinese garden in Suzhou. The scenery here is really beautiful. The ancient buildings are surrounded by lakes and rivers. In summer, lotus blooms in the lake and fish and ducks swim in the river. Tourists can admire the beauty of Chinese ancient buildings here and feel the tranquility at the same time. Spring or autumn is the perfect season to visit here, but there may have a huge amount of tourists. Thus, please avoid public holidays or festivals in case that the garden would be over occupied. I strongly recommend a restaurant- xiesanbao near the garden. Food here is really tasty😍

Winter in Suzhou Gardens is like a painting waiting for you to admire!

Winter in Suzhou Gardens is like a painting waiting for you to admire!

Winter in Suzhou Gardens has a unique charm of tranquility and serenity. As you step into the garden, the lushness of the past seems to be hidden away by winter. The deciduous trees have shed their green attire, and their branches are outlined in simple and vigorous lines against the sky. The water in the pond becomes clearer and calmer, reflecting the withered trees and pavilions on the shore, like an elegant ink painting. The rockeries appear even more austere in the cold of winter, contrasting with the surrounding snow scene. Occasionally, a few plum blossoms bloom proudly in the snow, exuding a faint fragrance, adding a touch of vitality and warmth to the cold winter day. Icicles hang from the flying eaves of the pavilions, glistening in the sunlight. As you walk through the corridors, the cold wind brushes by, bringing a slight chill, but also allowing you to feel the tranquility and depth of the garden. The paths in the garden are covered with a thin layer of snow, leaving shallow footprints. Snowflakes fall gently, landing on the rockeries, ponds, flowers, and trees, draping the entire garden in a layer of white silver. Winter in Suzhou Gardens lacks the blooming flowers of spring, the lush greenery of summer, and the colorful hues of autumn, but it possesses a simple and elegant beauty that washes away the glitz, allowing one to be immersed in the tranquility and peace.
