Okinawa|Freshly Sliced Tuna Sashimi, A Burst of Fresh Flavor!

The Tomari Fish Market in Okinawa is a haven for the freshest and most local seafood. As you step into the market, you're greeted by the aroma of the sea, with stalls displaying freshly caught fish, each piece exuding the sweetness of the ocean. It's a must-visit for food lovers. The market's biggest attraction, besides the wide variety of seafood, is the free cooking service! You can choose your freshly bought seafood and have it prepared by the stall owner or at a dedicated service counter. Whether you prefer it steamed, in soup, or pan-fried, you can enjoy freshly cooked seafood tailored to your taste. There's even a professional on-site to slice the fish, showcasing their skill and ensuring the freshness of the fish. I ended up choosing a box of assorted tuna sashimi. Each piece was vibrant in color, with evenly distributed fat, melting in your mouth with a burst of oceanic sweetness. Sitting in the outdoor seating area of the market, enjoying the sea breeze while savoring this simple yet rich delicacy, made me feel closer to the ocean. If you love tasting fresh seafood and enjoying the authentic atmosphere of a fishing port, the Tomari Fish Market is a stop you can't miss!

Naha's Longest Shopping Street! Kokusai Dori is a great place to shop, eat, drink, play, and take photos

Naha's Longest Shopping Street! Kokusai Dori is a great place to shop, eat, drink, play, and take photos. Kokusai Dori in Naha is a great place for shopping. There are many unique shops here, as well as distinctive snacks. It's a must-visit spot in Japan for souvenirs and shopping. Unlike Tokyo, it's not overly crowded, and the leisurely atmosphere of casually strolling around lets me experience the fresh vibe of Naha. - 【Delicious Snack Shops】 💙Blue Seal Ice Cream Shop A famous ice cream and beverage shop in Okinawa, known for its bright colors and variety of flavors. The most classic is the blue and white sea salt flavored ice cream, made with Okinawan sea salt. Many people love it because of its refreshing blue color, which feels like swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Okinawa. • 💙Heisei 20 Cheese Tart I was attracted by this big tart, with its soft and chewy filling, and the cheese stretches as long as your arm. The process of buying this cheese tart is also interesting, with a small machine where you press buttons to select your dessert, and then it prints out a ticket. • 💙Hateruma Izakaya There is a very popular izakaya on this pedestrian street called Hateruma, which is the southernmost island of Japan. The dining atmosphere is great, with live singers to set the mood! Be sure to try Okinawa's bitter melon scrambled eggs and sweet potato fritters, which are Okinawa exclusives. - 【Special Souvenirs】 Okinawan green onions, peanut-flavored tofu pudding, and purple sweet potato desserts.

Highly cost-effective hotel!

Highly cost-effective hotel!

The hotel environment is very comfortable and Instagrammable. Toiletries are provided. The hot spring is not very big, but after a day of walking around, soaking in the hot spring at night feels very relaxing. There is a private parking lot 🅿️. Note that room cleaning service is only provided if you stay for 3 consecutive nights. It is about a 10-minute walk to Kokusai Street.

Fukushūen Garden

#okinawatrip This is a must see garden in Naha! It has beautiful spots for photo opportunities! If you go, try to make it a little before the sun goes down so you can see it in the light as well as lit up once it gets dark. The price is very worth the visit- not expensive at all. They have bathrooms, plenty of spots to sit and rest, and drink/ice cream vending machines. If you want to feed the fish in the various ponds you can purchase food for 100Y. Biggest perk is it is dog friendly so bring your pup, but make sure they are on a leash and you bring bags to pick up after them if they go poo.

If you're visiting Okinawa for the first time, this is a no-brainer.

If you're visiting Okinawa for the first time, this is a no-brainer.

If you're not driving in Okinawa, I really recommend joining a day tour, so you can just focus on taking photos 😂. When I took the bus to the outlying islands later... ✏ To avoid getting up early, I chose the classic North Line tour that meets at 8:45. We didn't get back to the prefectural office until 19:00. ✨ Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium 2 hours 30 minutes The only paid attraction worth visiting. Follow Crayon Shin-chan to the aquarium. The highlights are the whale sharks and dolphin show, the rest can be skipped. Two and a half hours is enough for a rough visit. If you want to explore it thoroughly, I suggest spending a whole day there, as the round-trip bus ride is time-consuming. 🐋 ✨ Kouri Beach 20 minutes Check in at Kouri Bridge. The sea in Okinawa is really nice. It was cloudy and drizzling at the time, but the sea was still clear and transparent. 🌊 ✨ Onna no Eki Nakayukui Market 20 minutes There is a store on Kokusai Street. It's a good place to stop and rest, and recharge your energy. ✨ Cape Manzamo 20 minutes (JPY 100/person) Well, it was backlit in the afternoon, but I did see a rainbow that day. 🌈 ✨ American Village 50 minutes Oh my god, it's like an open-air set. It's a bit... depending on your personal preference. But it's really good for taking photos, especially at night when the lights are on. The area is not small, so 50 minutes is a bit rushed. 🏰 💁 I weighed my options and decided to join a day tour, as I didn't want to tire myself out. It was actually quite good, and the time at each attraction was very precise. 😅 It was a bit rushed, maybe because I spent too much time taking photos.

I enjoy the freedom of seafood at the seafood market in Okinawa

I enjoy the freedom of seafood at the seafood market in Okinawa

To understand a city, the simplest way is actually to visit the local food market. In Nago, I went to the Nago Fishing Port, and naturally, I did the same in Naha. Naha actually has two markets, one is the Naha Fishing Port, and the other is the First Makishi Public Market. ✅ Market Introduction: ⭕️ Naha Tomari Port is right by the dock, not as nice as Makishi Public, more like a local food market for residents. ⭕️ Makishi Public is right next to Kokusai Dori, overall much cleaner and tidier, more like a large fresh supermarket. ⭕️ In terms of price, the two markets are not much different, but Makishi Public has a wider variety and larger scale than Tomari Port. ⭕️ Both markets have seafood stalls that offer processing services, and the stalls have Chinese-speaking staff, so no worries about language barriers. ⭕️ For processing, whether it's sashimi or Chinese-style stir-fry, everything can be arranged, giving a feeling like you haven't traveled far. ⭕️ During the trip, the exchange rate fluctuated quite a bit, we didn't exchange too much Japanese yen, conveniently credit cards, WeChat, and Alipay were all accepted. ✅ Special Recommendations: ⭕️ In Japan, noctiluca and giant clams are edible, and in the market, you can also see porcupine fish and coconut crabs, like visiting an aquarium. ⭕️ At Tomari Port, we tried noctiluca, which are really big, half sashimi and half stir-fried with green onions, really delicious no matter how it's cooked. ⭕️ At Makishi office, we ordered a lobster, a geoduck, and a scallop for a total of 15,900 yen, about 750 RMB, which would cost at least double in China. ⭕️ The lobster was half raw and half boiled in soup, geoduck sashimi, and scallops with garlic, all extremely delicious because they were fresh. ⭕️ It is said that in China, giant clams that have been sitting in tanks have a special stench, so in the end, we didn't try them, but those interested might want to give it a shot.
