Game of Thrones filming location! Ait Ben Haddou travel guide
Departing from Marrakech, a 3.5-hour self-drive will take you to a must-visit spot on the loop, the Game of Thrones filming location Ait Ben Haddou!
The village is very small, if you are in a hurry like us, you can stay directly in the village. If you want to stay in a better place, you can go to Ouarzazate first, and then drive back 30km to Ait Ben Haddou village.
You can walk directly to the castle from the main road of the village. As the filming location of 'Game of Thrones', 'The Mummy', and 'Gladiator', it is also very popular among photography enthusiasts, and it's a great place for taking photos!
💡The castle is free of charge🆓, but there is an old man who charges for the nearest shortcut. (Probably because it passes by his house?) Most tourists and group tours go up from the right side of the main road, cross the nearly dry creek, and follow the sign with the large 'Entrance' to the main gate of the castle!
The entire castle is surrounded by red brick walls, with scenery all the way, and various local souvenir shops and handicrafts. You can overlook the entire village from the highest point~ Especially the stairs in front of the highest point of the castle, it's a great place for taking photos!📸
When you come down, you can rest in a local tea house and have a cup of Moroccan mint tea🍃. The terrace view of the tea house we went to was superb! Taking photos gives a sense of Aladdin's magic lamp, full of exotic charm, and the boss is very enthusiastic~☀️
Finally, cross the bridge back to the village, taking photos of the castle from the bridge is also a beautiful spot!🕶
🏨Accommodation
We stayed at the very popular Guest House Bagdad Café in the village, there is a parking space at the door🅿️, and it's very convenient to go to the castle!
Magical Ait Ben Haddou has been the movie set for countless films and TV shows, including Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Kingdom of Heaven, and many more.
Magical Ait Ben Haddou. You can still see where the arena was for the Gladiator movie (the circle to the right).

Mesitello "bistrot lescalier" (Bistrot lescalier I) Good morning de my time (...) Everyone, thank you for all the congratulatory rice yesterday. I went to Jiyugaoka a little early. There are a lot of Madams in Jiyugaoka, and it's popular ~ There are a lot of Madams = Cooking is delicious Hmmm, this is pretty promising! I'm Calling You of Chanson ver. Is hanging in the store, do you know? "BAGDAD CAFE --I'm Calling You" People who know, I like a lot of music. Yeah, it's fashionable. The appetizer is "Chicken white lever mousse, salad, pickles, and chanson." It's delicious. It's too tasty ,,, (homage to Saitama W) Slowly bring the food to your mouth ,,,, and include the wine twice in your mouth. .. .. Did you see this? This is the technique of Ichiko Soden, and I drank it twice (by Reiwa's sake idiot) Who is the master ...? The main is "Inada's poêler" Even though I'm not good at fish sometimes It was really delicious. Hmm ~ ,,, I recommend it here. It's popular, so if you're going with two or more people, it's better to make a reservation for lunch on weekdays. Yes, today is around here, ps this day. I didn't have enough, but I was so busy that lunch wasn't unusual? W Well, live straight, honestly, don't forget your beliefs, and it's definitely good to live hard? Good luck everyone

Chefchaouen Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
5 THINGS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT MOROCCO 🇲🇦 😍
The Sahara Desert, bazaars and souks are the perfect place to get lost 😍 Along the way you‘ll find many amazing animals and friendly people 🐪 🐍🐒 Our Morocco road trip felt like the perfect adventure without being too adventurous if you understand what I mean 😅
Here are our highlights to help you plan your trip:
🗺️ Places to visit / Things to do:
We did an amazing road trip in the following order:
1.Chefchaouen - the blue city 💙 You’ll find many cats here 🐈
2.Fes -Make sure to visit the local tanneries but be prepared for the worst smell 🙈
3.Ouzoud - You can see wild monkeys here🐒
4.Marrakesh - Stay in a traditional riad in the Medina for at least 2-3 days
5.Ait Ben Haddou - This ancient city was in sooo many movies already 🐪
6.Sahara Desert - We stayed at Sahara Luxury Camp (dogs allowed) right in the desert 🏜️
7.Dades Gorge - The nature looks stunning here 🌳
8.Taghazout - The perfect place to go surfing 🏄♂️
9.Essaouira - If you‘re lucky you can spot goats that climb into trees to eat the fruits 🐐 It looks very funny 😄
10.Casablanca 🌈
🚗 How to get around
Rent a car or bring your own vehicle 😁 We took the ferry from Algericas in Spain to Morocco (only 30 minutes) ⛴️ Always carry 2 wallets when you are on the road because the corrupt police will stop you all the time. In one wallet you can carry all of your valuables and the other one just has a little bit of cash inside to give away when the Police asks for it (they usually ask for a lot but if you show your almost empty wallet and say you don‘t have more they will accept it) 😅
⏰ Best time to visit
During the cooler months when it‘s not too hot ☀️ We visited during November and usually had around 20-25°C. cr:wanderlust_samoyed& Contact us for removal
The Blue City of Morocco
Getting There - There are many tours that charge £50-£60 online. However there is a location where ‘big taxis’ that go long journeys are located near CTM bus station in rout de tetoun. Big Taxis which are 7 seaters that costs £6pp one way. They collect the money beforehand and it takes about 2 hours to get there.
Attractions - the blue city is an attraction itself, there is no fee to enter you just walk in and roam around. There are waterfalls located here too.
Hotels - N/A
Food & Restaurants - There are many restaurants and food here, you can find all kinds of Moroccan food and some restaurants have an upstairs if you want a view. There are also restaurants near the river and waterfalls.
Shopping - The whole of Chefchouen has street vendors selling clothes, gifts and souvenirs you can buy and haggle.
I really enjoyed this place but i have to warn you than the journey here has great views but the lack of straight roads may require you to take sickness pills as its very mountainous.
You can spend as much time as you want here but for me 3-4 hours was enough. #chefchaoen #morocco #tanger #tangier
Cafe Restaurant Rahmouni
Cafe Restaurant Rahmouni is located in Av. Hassan II, 91000 Chefchaouen, Morocco, is open daily from 0900-0030.
The restaurant offers the best variety of local and international cuisine, and has a balcony sitting overlooking the nature of the blue city at decent price.
Friendly staff approach and greet you when you just come in the restaurant, and customers are free to sit anywhere.
I had ordered a shrimp tagine and a banana shake. Tagine is a Moroccan cooking vessel that is conical in shape and acts as a slow cooker. Traditionally, tagine is both the pot and the food that is cooked in it and uses Moroccan bread to scope up the meat, vegetables and sauce. Normally, chicken, beef and lamb are common meats used in tagine cooking.
Banana shake is not so cold, but the shrimp tagine taste nice, when you soak your bread into it.
Plaza Uta el Hamman
Plaza Uta el Hamman is the main square of the medina of Chefchaouen, this wonderful square is a great place to just bask and explore, it is filled with restaurants, souvenir shops and sidewalk cafes some with a terrace ( rooftop ) sitting and comfortable places to just relax.
The Grand Mosque of Chefchaouen, which the minaret has an octagonal shaft, is the oldest mosque in the area, occupies an area of around 130 square meters. ( Only Muslim can enter the building)
The incredible kasbah construction date in 1471, once a fortress protecting the area, featuring towers, many arches, domes and passageways to explore.

Sahara Desert Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Just came back from Morocco, not sure whether to talk about it or not
Recently, I went to Morocco with my best friend and discovered a lot of interesting things. Let's organize the experiences we gained in Morocco.
1, The cost of living in Morocco is really low, shopping won't hurt your wallet
2, The Sahara Desert is a must-visit, but you really need to choose a good tent hotel, otherwise the cold water for bathing at night, cold sleep, the overall experience will drop a lot
3, The SIM card is directly available for free at the airport after landing, just recharge the data and call charges and you can use it
4, Morocco uses European standard plugs
5, Online car-hailing in Morocco is illegal, if discovered, the driver will be beaten by taxi drivers
6, You must bargain when taking a taxi, it feels like the taxis here are all very expensive, if you don't bargain, you will really cry
7, Bring disposable toiletries, folding kettle
8, You must bargain when buying souvenirs, because they will deliberately call high prices when they see Chinese people
9, It's not cost-effective to exchange currency at the airport, it's recommended to go to a Chinese restaurant in the city
10, I think Tajine is quite delicious, but eating too much will get tired, if you worry about not being able to eat the food here, you can bring some chili sauce or pickles
11, If someone kindly shows you the way on the road, you must refuse, because they will ask for tips in the end
12, The weather in Morocco in December is very good, it's sunny during the day, you can wear a piece of clothing when the sun is out, but the temperature difference between morning and evening is huge, it's very cold, you still need to bring some thicker clothes
13, Don't think about coming to Morocco for special forces travel, because it's very tiring. The distance between each attraction is very far, the time spent on the car every day is very long, if someone tells you that you can run through the whole Morocco in 4, 5 days, then this travel agency must be irresponsible
14, The Jemaa el-Fna Square is very lively, with various street performances, especially snake charming, scary, and a variety of delicious snacks
15, Fez is really a maze, without a guide, it's hard to move an inch inside
Glamping in the Sahara Desert
If you are in Morocco, make sure to spend at least 2-3 days in the Sahara Desert. It was the highlight of our entire trip to Morocco!
The sunrise or sunset doesn't get much better than from the top of the sand dunes. Especially if you just spent the night in a luxury tent in the middle of the desert.
MUST VISIT PLACES IN MOROCCO
Top spots in Morocco
Morocco is one of our favorite countries! The food is delicious, the streets are busy and colorful and there is so much to see.
Our favorite places in Morocco are the Sahara Desert, Blue City, Fez, and Marrakech.
Make sure to spend at least one night glamping in the Sahara Desert. Sip the hot Moroccan tea during the sunrise and watch the sunset from a top of the sand dunes😍
Someone pinch me… this absolutely feels like a dream. Sahara desert was even better experience than what i imagined
