Baishui travel guide and discussion

The key is to avoid paying for tea, charging, or tickets just because you're too shy to ask 😏 10 things you can get for free in China. For search: free — free — 免费 I’m used to travel money vanishing just by looking at a station vending machine. But in China, many useful things are actually available for free—if you know where to look and what to ask. 1. Hot Water — 开水 / 热水 At train stations, airports, and some public buildings, there are hot water dispensers. Bring a thermos or a mug, as disposable cups aren't always provided. Look for the sign 小心烫, which means "caution, hot" ♨️ 2. Public Toilets — 公共厕所 They are free in most cities. Search for 公共厕所 or 卫生间. Toilet paper isn't always available, so keeping tissues in your bag is a small investment in your emotional peace of mind. 3. State Museums — 公共博物馆 Many museums are free to visit, but they require a booking: Free Reservation — 免费预约. You usually need a passport, and bookings are made through the museum's official WeChat account. "Free" here doesn't mean "just walk in and smile nicely" 🏛️ 4. City Parks — 城市公园 Regular parks, walking areas, and green zones are often open for free. Use 公园 (park) or 免费开放 (free admission) to find them. Note that rides or specific pavilions inside might still charge a fee. 5. Riverside Viewpoints — 免费观景台 Look for: City Terrace — 城市阳台 Riverside Park — 江滩公园 Viewing Platform — 观景台 Sometimes the best view of a paid attraction is from the free bank across the river. China knows how to do financial irony 🌉 6. Hotel Luggage Storage — 酒店行李寄存 Many hotels store guests' bags for free before check-in or after check-out. Ask: Can I store my luggage for free? 可以免费寄存行李吗? Storage at train stations and private lockers usually costs money. 7. Water or Tea in Restaurants — 白开水 / 茶水 In many simple eateries, hot water or basic tea is provided for free, but not everywhere. Clarify: Is this free? 这个免费吗? Because that teapot on the table might not be hospitality—it could be a paid plot twist 🍵 8. Charging Outlets — 充电插座 Free outlets can be found on high-speed trains, at stations, airports, and in libraries. Look for 免费充电 (free charging). However, rental power banks (共享充电宝) are not free and can sometimes be as pricey as a good restaurant meal. 9. Tourist Assistance and Maps — 旅游咨询 At Tourist Service Centers (游客服务中心), you can get free info on routes, transport, and schedules. Sometimes they provide paper maps: Free Tourist Map — 免费旅游地图. 10. Free Samples — 免费试吃 / 免费试喝 At food markets, tea exhibitions, and some shops, you can sample food or tea. 试吃 means "try food," and 试喝 means "try a drink." Remember, it’s a tasting, not an all-you-can-eat buffet—stay classy 😄 My go-to Chinese "spell": 这个免费吗? Is this free? This one short question helps you get useful services without finding surprise charges for tea on your bill. In China, many things are free—except for tourist carelessness ❤️

If you're planning a trip to Shangri-La, be sure to schedule a visit to two breathtaking natural locations. These are places of pristine beauty, the power of water, and unique geological landscapes. 1. Tiger Leaping Gorge · English: Tiger Leaping Gorge | Chinese: 跳虎峡 (Tiàohǔ Xiá) This is one of the deepest and most spectacular river gorges in the world, located on the Jinsha River (upper reaches of the Yangtze River). · Impressive facts and history: The gorge is sandwiched between two monumental mountain ranges—Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Yulong) and Haba Snow Mountain. The elevation difference from the mountain peaks to the raging river is approximately 3,900 meters! According to an ancient local legend, a tiger pursued by hunters was able to leap across the river at the narrowest point of the gorge (only about 25 meters) by jumping off a huge boulder in the middle of the roaring torrent. This stone still lies in the riverbed and is called "Tiger Leaping Stone." · Why visit: To experience the incredible, pristine power of nature. The roar of the raging water here is so loud that it drowns out any voices. Travelers can enjoy comfortable and safe wooden viewing platforms directly above the roaring water, and for those who enjoy active recreation, one of the best trekking routes in Asia runs along the upper bed of the gorge. 2. Baishuitai Water Terraces · English: Baishuitai Water Terraces (White Water Terraces) | Chinese: 白水台 (Báishuǐtái) These fantastic cascading mineral pools, often called "China's Pamukkale," are located at the foot of Haba Snow Mountain. · Impressive facts and history: These dazzling white cascades took over 200,000–300,000 years to form. Calcium carbonate-rich spring water, flowing down the mountain slopes, left behind travertine deposits over centuries, which over time formed into perfect layered basins. For the local Naxi people, this place has deep historical and sacred significance: it was here that their ancient, distinctive Dongba culture originated, and the terraces themselves are considered a symbol of the harmony between man and nature. · Worth visiting for: To witness with your own eyes the surreal landscape, reminiscent of frozen ice fountains or multi-tiered white marble cascades filled with turquoise water. The sun's rays refract through the pools, creating a stunning palette of colors from azure to emerald. This is the perfect location for unique and aesthetically pleasing photographs, virtually unparalleled anywhere in the world. You can find a private driver and arrange a ride with one of them on the streets of the Old Town. They'll hand out their business cards there, and a full-day trip to both locations will cost approximately 100-150 RMB per person. Tickets can be purchased separately at the entrance to each location. 🎫 Tiger Gorge - entrance 45 RMB 🎫 White Terraces - entrance 30 RMB Alternatively, you can book a package tour through an agency, which will cost 300-400 RMB per person and include a group trip in a minivan. Or, you can book a full-day transfer at your hotel reception for 200 yuan and pay for tickets at the entrance. #shangrila #tigerleapinggorge #baishubai #travelchina #traveltibet #tibetmountains

🔥I've taken my kids to play in the water this summer at both Chengdu Yaquekou and Guangzhou Baishuizhai! One is wild and free, the other features an ethereal waterfall. Which one is easier for parents and less tiring for kids? Check out this comparison guide and copy the plan! 💦 [📍Route planning & who it's for] 🚗Chengdu Pengzhou Yaquekou: Navigate to "Yaquekou." It's not far from Bailu Town. The road is paved the whole way, and you can drive right up to the stream. Perfect for families who want to camp, picnic, or have kids who love catching fish and shrimp. Free admission, zero stress. 🌊Guangzhou Zengcheng Baishuizhai: Navigate to "Baishuizhai Scenic Area." It's a well-developed attraction with an admission fee of CNY 60. It features wooden boardwalks and is shaded the entire way. Perfect for families who want an easy hike and to see a large waterfall. [📷Must-visit spots & photo ops] ✨Yaquekou: Stand on the large rocks by the riverbank with the green mountains and stream as your backdrop. Between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, the light filters through the treetops and hits the water, perfect for cool, refreshing photos. Capture natural moments of your kids catching fish in the shallows. 🌈Baishuizhai: Get up close to the mist at the Qinpu Platform and Mupu Platform, where you can often see rainbows. Take panoramic shots of the waterfall from the Puming Platform. Wear light-colored clothing for a natural soft-focus effect—it looks ethereal. [🍜Food & parent-saving gear] 🧊Yaquekou: You must bring chilled watermelon! Toss it into the upstream water, and it gets perfectly chilled. Bring a picnic mat, canopy, fishing nets, and water guns. Put non-slip water shoes on your kids and bring extra changes of clothes. 🍢Baishuizhai: There are snacks inside the scenic area, but we recommend bringing your own fruit and snacks. Also, bring non-slip shoes and water guns. If the kids get tired, there are shaded rest areas, and you can splash in the water to cool off at any time. [💡Tips] ⚠️Common reminders: The stream rocks are extremely slippery, so non-slip shoes are a must! You will definitely get wet, so keep a change of dry clothes in the car. Take all your trash with you and practice leave no trace water play. ⚠️Yaquekou: There are no restrooms or changing rooms; it's a wild area, so bring a portable toilet or wet wipes. Do not go into deep water when the water level is high. ⚠️Baishuizhai: It gets crowded on holidays, so we recommend going early. There are many stairs, so if you have small children, use a hip seat carrier or a lightweight stroller (some parts of the boardwalk are stroller-friendly).

Qin's eastern scenic treasures, Weinan highlights When people think of Weinan, many first picture Mount Hua. This most perilous mountain rises with five towering peaks and sheer cliffs, and its sky-high plank walk and daring acrobatic cliffs showcase the landscape's bold grandeur. Climbing to the summit to watch the sea of clouds and sunrise is a dream for countless visitors. But Weinan's beauty goes far beyond Mount Hua; here you can enjoy Yellow River scenery, millennia-old architecture, and deep cultural roots, making it a hidden gem in eastern Guanzhong. Heyang's Qiachuan Wetland is the birthplace of the line from the Book of Songs, "Guan guan ju jiu, on the islet in the river." Vast reeds sway in the wind, the Virgin Spring bubbles as a hot spring, and boat trips through the wetlands reveal waterbirds in graceful flight and the unique, gentle poetry of the Yellow River marshes. In Dali, the Fengtuyi granary is hailed as the world's first granary. The Qing-dynasty blue-brick warehouse town feels simple and solid; from the roof you can gaze out over the Yellow River mudflats and sense the ancient wisdom of storing grain to stabilize the realm. The Han Cheng area has an especially rich cultural heritage. The Sima Qian shrine is built against the mountain; 99 stone steps lead up to the Grand Historian's tomb, and standing on the high platform looking out over the rushing Yellow River you can appreciate the historian's ambition and vision. Han Cheng's ancient streets weave through Ming and Qing buildings; strolling the bluestone lanes, the Confucian temple and the city god temple feel quaint and atmospheric, and the lively local life is palpable. Nearby Dangjia Village and other ancient settlements preserve well-kept siheyuan courtyard houses with exquisite brick and wood carvings, making them living fossils of northern residential architecture. Tongguan ancient city stands at the confluence of three rivers. From the city tower you can watch the Yellow, Wei, and Luo rivers surge together in a majestic scene, and the thousand-year history of warfare and change comes vividly to mind. There is also Baishui Cangjie Temple, where millennium-old cypresses stand tall and tell the ancient legends about the origin of Chinese characters. Visiting Weinan, you can climb perilous peaks to take in sweeping landscapes or stroll ancient sites to read thousand-year cultural threads. With rivers, mountains, and historic sites as companions, sample a bowl of shichen baozi and a bowl of xue mian, and immerse yourself in the unique local customs of the eastern Qin region.

Weinan in September–October is truly perfect for a "slow-paced" stay of a few days.🍁 It's right next to Xi'an, yet without the crowds. With the Yellow River breeze, the foot of the Qinling Mountains, and the yellow sycamores of the old town, the streets are filled with the aroma of tofu puffs, Shichen buns, and lamb soup—the slow pace of the Guanzhong East Prefecture is that comfortable feeling of "finishing a bowl of noodles and sitting under the old city wall to zone out." 💰 Budget (3 days, 2 nights, low-cost version) · Stay: Old hotels in Linwei Old Town/Qianjin Road/by the Weihe River for 90–140/night, hostels for 50–70🛏️ · Eat: Shichen buns 3–5, tofu puffs 8–10, lamb soup 25–35, Xue noodles 8–10, night market skewers 2–3/skewer; you can eat quite well for 45–60 a day · Transport: Train/high-speed train from Xi'an to Weinan 10–30; city bus 1–2, taxi starting fare 7; shuttle buses/high-speed trains are available to Huashan/Shaohuashan · Tickets: Weinan Old Town/Youhe Park/Weihe Ecological Park/Weinan Museum/Cangjie Temple perimeter/Dangjia Village perimeter are all 0; Huashan is approx. 160 (for a slow trip, don't climb at night), Shaohuashan is approx. 90, Sima Temple (Hancheng) is extra👉 3 days, 2 nights 260–380; adding Shaohuashan is approx. 350–470; trying to force Huashan + Hancheng will be exhausting 🏯 Recommended attractions (plenty to see for free) 1. Weinan Museum (0, closed Mondays): East Prefecture farming, shadow puppetry, old stages, historical materials on the Weihua Uprising; a great place to hide from the autumn heat at noon🏛️ 2. Youhe Park + Weihe Trail (0, after 5:30 PM): Yellow willows in the old town, slow river water, grandpas fishing for crucian carp, the distant outline of Huashan glowing blue; the evening is most like the "old East Prefecture"🌊 3. Old Town Drum Tower/Old Street (0): Not a major tourist spot, but a place of daily life selling chili, steamed buns, and repairing bicycles, with sycamore leaves falling on your shoulders🍂 4. Shaohuashan perimeter/Shimen Gorge lower path (low-cost option): October brings the first red leaves, the stream is cool, and it's fine to walk slowly without taking the cable car; ten times fewer people than Huashan⛰️ 5. Huazhou Shadow Puppetry/Huayin Laoqiang (old museum/cultural center, free if you happen upon it): Not a stage show, but an old man singing a line at the village stage or in the intangible cultural heritage museum—it gives you goosebumps🥁 6. Hancheng direction (optional, Dangjia Village/ancient city perimeter): Ming and Qing dynasty old villages, ancient cypresses at the Confucian Temple, distant views of the Yellow River Longmen; slow travelers can stay one night, but don't do it on the same day as Huashan 🗺️ Slow-paced route (don't wear out your legs) D1 Sunset in the Old Town: Arrive in Weinan, stay on Qianjin Road → Eat Shichen buns + tofu puffs on Old Street → 1:30 PM–4:30 PM rest in your room (it's dry in autumn, don't get sunburned) → 5:30 PM walk along the willow banks of Youhe Park → Lamb soup + skewers at the night market. D2 Museums and Rivers: 9:30 AM Weinan Museum → 11:00 AM Photos at the Old Town Drum Tower → 4:00 PM Zone out at Weihe Ecological Park → Evening Xue noodles + jelly noodles. D3 Mountain/City choice: A. Shaohuashan (go early, take the cable car for a section, red leaves + valley, return by 5:00 PM); B. Huayin/Foot of Huashan (don't climb to the top, see Yuquan Temple + Laoqiang + Yellow River scenery). Slow travelers should choose A to avoid burnout. D4 (Optional): Morning market to buy Dali winter jujubes/small shadow puppets/chili noodles → High-speed train back to Xi'an/go to Tongguan. 🍜 What to eat (a delight for the East Prefecture palate) · Shichen buns (3–5; "steamed at the hour of the rabbit, eaten at the hour of the dragon," chive/pork filling, fluffy skin and juicy) 🥟 · Tofu puffs (8–10; the soul of Weinan breakfast; chili oil + bun cubes + hot tofu) · Lamb soup (25–35; clear broth, crescent-shaped bread with meat, super comforting in the autumn chill) 🐑 · Xue noodles (8–10; authentic Heyang flavor, buckwheat noodles cut into strips with sauce) & Jelly noodles/Liangpi (8–10) & Dali braised pork knuckle (AA at the night market) · Red willow skewers 2–3/skewer + Bingfeng soda + Dali winter jujubes (super sweet when bought by the jin in September–October) 🍁 Souvenirs: Buy at the old town vegetable market/near Qianjin Road night market: winter jujubes, chili noodles, small shadow puppet ornaments, Guokui bread; don't buy "Huashan jade/blessed beads" at tourist spots.🙅 💡 Honest advice · September is warm during the day and cool at night; in October, bring a light sweatshirt + trench coat + lip balm; the foot of Huashan is 8–10°C cooler than the city. · Rest in your room from 1:00 PM–4:00 PM; Youhe/Weihe are most magical before 9:30 AM and after 5:30 PM; the noon light is harsh, and the weather on the mountain changes quickly. · Huashan is beautiful but tiring + tickets are expensive; for a slow trip, "look at the mountain, don't climb it"; Shaohuashan red leaves don't peak until mid-to-late October. · Weinan Museum is free with ID, closed on Mondays; don't trust "unofficial guides charging for entry to Ming/Qing houses" in Hancheng Ancient City. · Smile before taking photos on Old Street, don't wear tank tops when entering old temples, and don't go down to the mud banks of the Yellow River alone. Weinan isn't just a "stopover east of Xi'an"; it's the yellow willows along the Youhe River on an autumn afternoon, the opening of a steamer of Shichen buns, the "hai ya" cry of Laoqiang opera, and the blue outline of Huashan standing in the distance—the slow pace of the East Prefecture is more enduring than a Huashan sunrise.🍂

2-hour drive from Xi'an! Baishui is a must-visit in autumn to enjoy the apple harvest

Weinan is beautiful, but I really don't recommend visiting in September–October. Take my advice and don't force it!! Don't be fooled by the "blockbuster" images of eastern Guanzhong: the perilous beauty of Huashan's sea of clouds, the red leaves of Shaohuashan, the snow-like reed catkins of Qiaochuan, the sunset over the Yellow River at Tongguan, the ancient city of Hancheng, and Shichen buns paired with Shuipen lamb soup. Weinan is a patchwork of Huashan (Huayin), Shaohuashan (Huazhou), Qiaochuan (Heyang), the Yellow River (Tongguan), ancient architecture (Hancheng), and carbs (Linwei Old Town). Visiting in September–October is a gamble on Guanzhong autumn weather: September brings the continuous, damp, and chilly "West China autumn rain," while October's National Day holiday means Huashan cable car queues that will make you question your life choices. Plus, the red leaves and reed catkins aren't at their peak, the mountains are freezing in the morning and evening but scorching at noon, and the wind by the Yellow River is strong enough to blow your hat off. 🚫 Why I advise against visiting in September–October 1️⃣ September in Weinan isn't crisp and clear; it's a triple threat of "autumn rain, fog, and slippery conditions" September in Weinan often coincides with the West China autumn rain. It's not heavy, but it's persistent, with humidity spiking to 80%–90%. Huashan, Shaohuashan, Tianliushan, Qiaoling, and Yaotou Kiln are all open-air or involve stone steps. After the rain, these steps become slippery. The Plank Walk in the Sky, the Chess Pavilion, and the Qianlong Temple plank road all turn into a "slip-resistance test." If you plan to "do Huashan in the morning, Shaohuashan in the late morning, Qiaochuan in the afternoon, and have Shuipen lamb soup in the old town at night," a single rain shower will ruin it: Huashan gets foggy and you see nothing, Shaohuashan cable car limits capacity, Qiaochuan's reeds get soaked, and the old town alleys get damp, making all your photos look gray. 2️⃣ Huashan during the National Day holiday = the "Spring Festival travel rush" of the Five Great Mountains Huashan is the soul of Weinan, but during the National Day holiday, Huashan North Station, Yuquan Temple, and the cable car stations are all packed. The West Peak cable car is 130, the North Peak cable car is 80, and queues during the holiday can reach 2–3 hours. Wanting to photograph "Canglong Ridge red leaves + South Peak sea of clouds" means queuing at dawn, fighting for cable car tickets, and seeing nothing but the backs of people's heads at the East Peak sunrise viewing platform. This also causes a domino effect on Tongguan Ancient City, Qiaochuan, and Hancheng: parking is difficult by the Yellow River, there are queues for the electric carts in the Heyang reed marshes, and you can't drive into the Hancheng alleys. 3️⃣ The timing for red leaves/reed catkins is off; get it wrong and it's a wasted trip Huashan red leaves are mid-October to early November, Shaohuashan is late October to mid-November, Hancheng Xiangshan is mid-October to mid-November, Qiaochuan reed catkins are October to November, Fuping persimmons are around the time of Frost's Descent (late October), and Pucheng Qiaoling only gets good in late October. Come in September: The mountains are still mostly green, so your "Guanzhong autumn" photos will look like late summer. Come October 1–7: The crowds are at their peak, the leaves haven't turned red, the reed catkins are just starting, and the persimmons aren't ripe. You'll pay the highest prices to see "half-green, half-yellow" scenery and crowds of people. True Weinan autumn beauty doesn't peak until after October 20 to mid-November, when workers are back at their jobs and independent travel is actually worth it. 4️⃣ Attractions are scattered like a Guanzhong platter; without a car, you're just spending your time on the highway Huashan is in Huayin, Shaohuashan is in Huazhou, Qiaochuan is in Heyang, Tongguan is in the southeast corner, Hancheng is in the northeast corner, and Fuping/Pucheng/Dali each occupy their own spot. If you're starting from Xi'an, you have to split it into routes: East Route (Huashan + Tongguan), North Route (Chengcheng + Heyang + Hancheng), and Northwest Route (Fuping + Pucheng + Baishui). If you try to do a "Huashan + Shaohuashan + Qiaochuan + Hancheng + Tongguan + Fuping persimmon forest" six-stop trip on your first visit, you'll be spending 2–3 hours driving every day, dealing with motion sickness, heavy trucks on national highways, and crosswinds by the Yellow River. Weinan is better suited for "staying in one place and exploring slowly," not for "finishing the Yellow River and Huashan in three days." 5️⃣ The mountain temperature trap: short sleeves at the bottom, cotton-padded jackets at the top The average temperature at the top of Huashan is only 5.9°C. In October, the South/West Peak can drop to 2–13°C in the morning and evening. If you don't wear a windbreaker + a thin down jacket to watch the sunrise at the East Peak, you'll be shivering. Qiaochuan wetlands are 20°C during the day but cold in the evening wind; the wind by the Yellow River in Tongguan will blow your Hanfu skirt right into your face; the Fuping Weinan plateau has a day-night temperature difference of 5–18°C. If you wear a camisole, you'll look pretty for three photos and spend the rest of the trip sneezing. 6️⃣ Shichen buns/Shuipen lamb soup/Xue noodles are delicious, but there are plenty of tourist traps too Lao Zhu Shichen buns are only sold in the morning and sell out by noon; for Shuipen lamb soup, try the clear broth in Chengcheng or the hemp-spiced version in Pucheng—don't order the "all-in-one" Shuipen at the entrance of a scenic spot. Heyang Xue noodles, Dali crescent bread, Tongguan meat burgers, Fuping persimmon cakes/Qiongguo candy, and Hancheng prickly ash buds are all delicious, but: The "wild Yellow River fish" at the Qiaochuan pier is overpriced, there are many unlicensed guides at the foot of Huashan offering "fast-track/internal tours," cultural and creative shops in Hancheng Ancient City are twice as expensive as the old alleys, and Yaotou Kiln is quiet and easy to visit for nothing. The real local flavor is in: Linwei West 2nd Road/Old Town alleys, Huazhou backstreets, Heyang Old Town, Pucheng night markets, and Fuping Old Town—not at the big landmark signs. 📅 When is the right time? ✅ September 15–25 (non-weekends): The heat has faded, the rain hasn't become continuous, Huashan's cloud base is clear—a hidden little golden window for Weinan. ✅ October 20–November 15 (weekdays): Huashan red leaves, Shaohuashan colorful forests, Qiaochuan reed catkins, Fuping red persimmons, and Hancheng Xiangshan are all in season. This is when "Guanzhong East Prefecture is willing to offer up its autumn." ✅ April–May: Huashan's fresh green, Qiaochuan's tender reeds, not stuffy, and not the National Day holiday—the most stable time for a first visit. ❌ Early to mid-September: The start of the West China autumn rain, with fog + rain + slippery conditions in the mountains. ❌ October 1–7: Queues for the Huashan cable car, queues for parking in Tongguan, Qiaochuan reed catkins not full, Hancheng crowds increasing, and old town hotel prices jumping from 150 to 400+. 🚨 Self-rescue guide if you insist on going in September–October · Don't plan a big loop of "Huashan + Shaohuashan + Qiaochuan + Hancheng + Tongguan + Fuping." Choose "Linwei Old Town 2 days + Huashan 1 day" or "Heyang Qiaochuan + Hancheng 2 days" and that's enough. · Enter Huashan before 7:00 AM / take the West Peak cable car up. On rainy/foggy days, switch to visiting Xiyue Temple, Weinan Museum, Chengcheng Yaotou Kiln, or Pucheng Qiaoling. · Don't go to Shaohuashan during the National Day holiday; wait until after late October. Don't go to the Qianlong Temple plank road after rain. · Enter the reed marshes in Qiaochuan in the evening; it's scorching at noon and windy in the afternoon. Bring a swimsuit for the Virgin Spring hot springs, and ignore the "Yellow River fish 298" at the pier. · Stay near the old towns of Linwei/Huayin/Hancheng; don't insist on hotels at the scenic spots. Arrive before 7:00 AM for Shichen buns, and dip your crescent bread into the Shuipen lamb soup. · Outfit: Short sleeves + windbreaker + thin down jacket + non-slip shoes + folding umbrella. Don't wear Hanfu to climb Huashan, and don't wear high heels to walk in Chenlu-style old alleys. Weinan isn't bad, but if you come in September–October, you're gambling on the West China autumn rain, gambling on Huashan fog, gambling on Shaohuashan cable car queues, gambling on the Qiaochuan reed catkins not being open, gambling on the Fuping persimmons not being red, gambling on the wind by the Yellow River during the National Day holiday blowing your makeup off, and gambling on the Shichen buns being sold out. Wait until late October, when Huashan's red leaves burn Canglong Ridge a deep red, the Shaohuashan cable car passes through a sea of clouds and smoke trees, the Qiaochuan reed catkins fly like snow in the backlight, and you can get a bowl of Shuipen lamb soup with crescent bread in the Linwei old street without queuing—that is when "Guanzhong East Prefecture is willing to gently offer you its hardest mountains, its softest reeds, and its most solid carbs" ⛰️🍁🍜

Remember to focus your phone and then swipe up to increase exposure compensation (+1 to +2 stops) to make the snow appear perfectly white. · Key photo spots: Take silhouette shots walking on the mountain boardwalk, and capture the sea of clouds and rime together from the observation deck. For detail-oriented photographers, don't miss the branches covered in icicles and the tiny footprints in the snow. ⚠️ Practical Tips: · The temperature at the summit is around 0℃, so be sure to wear non-slip shoes, scarves, and gloves to stay warm and prevent slipping. · Self-driving is recommended. Navigate to "Wugaishan International Forest Resort." The mountain roads have many curves, so drive slowly. Public transportation is less convenient. · The entire area is free to enter, no tickets required. 2.5 hours is just right for viewing the rime, not too tiring. 🏨 Hemei Yuemian Hotel: A Warm Haven on Your Journey After enjoying the rime and descending the mountain, nothing beats staying in a warm and comfortable hotel! Behind Yingzhi's hometown is a mountain called Qishan. As a child, I was very curious about what was on the other side of the mountain. Later, after climbing to the summit, I found that the mountains continued endlessly, vast and flat, with an elevation of over a thousand meters. It is a typical high mountain area, equivalent to a "Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau" in the northern Sichuan mountainous region. The mountain originally had villages such as Zaolin, Yonghe, and Motan. Climbing from Qishan towards Zaolin Township, you ascend the Cramp Slope, passing through Bainiya, Xianrenyan (Immortal Rock), Fotai Ping, Sacred Stone, Diaoma Rock, and finally reaching Cizhuya, forming an east-west trending fault zone with strange peaks, hanging cliffs, beautiful forest mists, and magnificent scenery. On the ridge between Fotai Ping and Diaoma Rock, there are natural wonders known as the Sacred Stone, Sacred Frog, and Sacred Water, collectively called the Three Sacred Blessings. In recent years, a man named Zeng Xingan retired and invested in developing the "Three Sacred Blessings" scenic area. A trail was opened along the ridge, with plank roads and suspension bridges built along the way, creating a free tourist attraction. On February 17, 2026, Yingzhi visited the Three Sacred Blessings. The mountain is high and the road is long, with no signs along the way. Asking for directions and stopping frequently, I finally saw the Sacred Stone and the surrounding scenery. If time permits, you can park your car at Zaolin Tea House, walk along the road to the Three Sacred Blessings scenic area, then return along the ridge trail towards Diaoma Rock back to the tea house, forming a perfect loop. At the entrance, there is a stone half-buried in the ground, with the exposed part resembling a frog sitting alone looking at the sky, known as the Sacred Frog. On a nearby stone, the words "Three Sacred Blessings" are inscribed, with the Sacred Frog welcoming visitors. Below the nearby cliff is a well where water seeps from the rock crevices, never drying up throughout the year, called the Sacred Water. It is said that drinking this sacred water brings health and safety, so villagers often come to drink it seeking protection. However, with fewer people in the mountains now, the well is covered with fallen leaves and no longer holds the old legends. Among the trees on the ridge stands a solitary stone with a majestic aura, surrounded by local mystical legends, known as the Sacred Stone. The top of the stone is flat, and there used to be a wooden ladder to climb and play on top, offering a panoramic view of the endless mountain mists. Unfortunately, the wooden ladder has rotted and is no longer climbable; only drones can capture the flat top of the stone. The Sacred Stone holds a sacred place in the hearts of locals, many of whom support the rock with firewood. It is said that this way, both ends rely on the mountain, called "leaning on the mountain," also known as standing tall and firm. There is also a folk legend that people with back pain can relieve it by supporting the rock with firewood or stones, a magical hope and spiritual comfort. The east-west ridge line undulates endlessly. From the Three Sacred Blessings towards Diaoma Rock, you can enjoy the scenery along the trail, a great place for leisure and fitness. Yingzhi’s trip also included a visit to Xianrenyan. On the northern ridge of Bainiya, between red hanging cliffs and sheer walls, there is a natural horizontal crack forming a unique aerial corridor resembling an eagle’s path. Carvings of Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy) are on the cliff walls, so it is called Xianrenyan or Guanyin Rock. When Yingzhi was in fourth grade at Guihua Primary School, the school organized a spring outing to Xianrenyan, making it Yingzhi’s first travel destination. Returning to this place brought mixed emotions. To the north of the Three Sacred Blessings ridge is a cliff, with Yangjiapo and Sujiapo villages below. Across the valley are Moujiapo and Yangjiapo, offering a broad view. To the south of the ridge is a gently rolling vast hilly forest landscape. The original Zaolin Township of Wangcang County is located here, with people living high in the mountains. When Yingzhi was in ninth grade at Zhanghua, a classmate named Jiang Yongyuan was from Zaolin Township. Yingzhi once visited his home but now does not know the exact location. Back then, walking from Zhanghua School, passing Jiutai Village and crossing Zhangkoushi, though the road was long and difficult, the journey was joyful with company. Jiang Yongyuan’s older brother was the first university graduate from Zaolin Township, working at the Sichuan Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and he had a beautiful younger sister in middle school. After graduating from middle school, they never met again, and their current situation is unknown. Nearby Leyuan Reservoir is a typical high mountain reservoir, with valleys crisscrossing the mountains and winding waterways that seem endless. From a high altitude, it looks like tree branches with many forks. It is located at the junction of Longwang Town in Cangxi County, Motan Town in Zhaohua District, and Zhanghua and Baishui Towns in Wangcang County. Walking around the reservoir would take several days without stopping. The mountaintop reservoir, with its lake and mountain scenery, sits high on the mountain like a heavenly pool and could be developed into a tourist scenic area.

Huangguoshu Yaojia·Waterfall Village Hotel YAOJIA ANSHUN The location of the hotel is truly unbeatable! It is situated in Baishui Town, Guanling Buyei and Miao Autonomous County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, right in the Waterfall Village of the Huangguoshu Scenic Area. For us, exhausted after a whole day of sightseeing, this distance is a lifesaver. No more rushing for buses or queuing; when tired, you can just head back to your room and relax. At every corner, you might encounter a centuries-old tree or frame a picturesque mountain and water scene. This respect and integration of local culture add a profound charm to the vacation experience. With a transparent infinity pool, gym, tea room, bar, KTV, and chess & card room, whether you want to be active or relax, you’ll find a place to suit your mood. Participate in the hotel’s occasional folk craft activities, or dress up in exquisite Miao or Buyei ethnic costumes to shoot a uniquely flavored photo series. Besides the must-see Huangguoshu Waterfall, you can also visit the nearby Baling River Bridge, Dishuitan Waterfall, or step into an authentic village to experience the genuine lifestyle of ethnic minorities.

Lin'gao Slow City is a land where time gently decelerates. Upon entering the scenic area, you are greeted by lush green rice fields interwoven with winding paths, babbling streams, and the faint sounds of chickens and dogs. Here, there is no urban clamor, only the fresh scent of the fields and the whispers of the wind. I rented a bicycle and rode along the lake, flanked by weeping willows swaying gently. In the distance, smoke curled up from small cottages, creating a scene reminiscent of a utopia. At a lakeside teahouse, a cup of tea and a moment of tranquility allowed time to flow slowly through my fingers. The sunset painted the water's surface red, and the evening breeze carried the fragrance of rice blossoms, as if even my heartbeat had slowed. Lin'gao Slow City teaches you to let go and rediscover the most genuine sounds of life.
