It originates in France, stretches 544 kilometers, and is the second longest tributary of the Rhine River, flowing through France, Germany, and Luxembourg. At the Bremm section, the Moselle River makes an astonishing 180-degree turn. Undoubtedly, this is an impressive landscape, well worth photographing! The Moselle River is a left bank tributary of the Rhine River. It originates from the western slope of the Vosges Mountains in northeastern France. It is 544 kilometers long, of which about 250 kilometers are in Germany. The Moselle River flows northwest through Luxembourg. From Schengen onwards, it is shared by Luxembourg and Germany. It completely enters Germany from the confluence of the Oberbillig and Sauer rivers in Germany. Passing through Trier, it begins to meander along one of the most beautiful river valleys in Germany, winding to Koblenz, the third largest city in Rhineland-Palatinate, and merges into the Rhine River. Although the Moselle River is not long, it is the mother river of Germany. Its navigable length is 392.1 kilometers and it was the main transportation route of the European Coal and Steel Community at that time. In this 392.1-kilometer waterway, 28 small dams were built from 1951 to 1979, raising the water level by 161 meters to facilitate navigation. The Moselle River twists and turns but flows gently, with green mountains and clear water along the way. The Moselle River is home to the familiar Trier, the hometown of Marx, the birthplace of Schengen, a small town in Luxembourg, and Koblenz, where the founding conference of the former West Germany was held. The Moselle River basin is also one of the producing areas of the famous Riesling wine. Many of the best Rieslings in the world are produced here. The end of the Moselle River is Koblenz, an ancient city with a history of more than 2,000 years. The confluence of the Moselle River and the Rhine River is called the "German Eck". Standing at the German Eck and looking into the distance, the fusion of the two rivers can be described as "clearly distinguished". Going upstream from Koblenz, in addition to the charming small towns on both sides of the river, there are also well-preserved medieval castles, including the twin-towered Turan Castle, Lechburg in Cochem, and Eltz, the only undestroyed medieval castle in the Rhine and Moselle River basin.
