Beringen travel guide and discussion

Ristorante Italia is an Italian restaurant located in the heart of Beringen, situated in the shopping district near the town's church, with convenient public parking nearby. From the outside, the restaurant may appear simple, but once you step inside, the ambiance is delightful. The decor is stylish and charming, featuring a sofa area adorned with photos of Italian celebrities and notable figures, as well as a dining area with a quirky pickup truck centerpiece. The ceiling is decorated with chandeliers, and the dim lighting creates a cozy and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a delicious meal. ➡️ Bread & Soup Complimentary bread and soup are served before the meal. On the day of the visit, the pumpkin soup was exceptionally flavorful. The bread selection included fragrant herb focaccia and crispy breadsticks, perfect for dipping in olive oil with a sprinkle of salt—absolutely delightful. ➡️ Gamberoni all'Italiana, tagliatelle fatte in casa The star of this dish was the large, succulent prawns. The sauce, made with olive oil, garlic, and tomatoes, was tossed with perfectly chewy homemade tagliatelle. A truly satisfying dish. ➡️ Spaghetti alle vongole The spaghetti was cooked to al dente perfection and sautéed with olive oil, garlic, parsley, and tender clams. The flavor was quite enjoyable. ➡️ Tiramisu The tiramisu featured moist ladyfingers layered with creamy mascarpone, delivering an authentic Italian taste. This dessert was excellently prepared. The meal concluded with a cup of robust Italian-style coffee, paired with biscotti for a perfect finish.

#easytravelpost The Santa Cruz trek is 4 days, ~47 km, Cashapampa (2,900 m) → Llamacorral → Taullipampa → Punta Unión (4,750 m) → Vaquería. Huascarán NP fee is S/60 multi-day or S/30 single-day, cash at the trailhead; no online permit, give it to your guide or pay the ranger yourself. I based in Huaraz, took a 3 hr colectivo to Cashapampa (S/25), and hiked independently with a rented sleeping bag (S/20/day in Huaraz) and a 6 kg duffel on mules (S/120 total, arranged via Casa de Guías). Day one to Llamacorral passes Ichiccocha and Hatuncocha—turquoise, glacier-fed, 3,750 m. Day two to Taullipampa (4,250 m) adds the Alpamayo side trail to Arhuaycocha; the "knife-edge" profile of Alpamayo (5,947 m) is the money shot, best lit 15:00–16:00. Day three over Punta Unión is the lung-test: 500 m gain in 2 hrs, then 1,150 m drop to Huaripampa. Nights hit -5°C in June; my -10°C bag was right. Mistake: I carried 4 L from Cashapampa and ran out at Taullipampa—treat stream water with a filter, don't haul it all. Another: I hiked west→east and the Punta Unión wind hit my face; east→west reverses that but makes Alpamayo backlit. Would you do Santa Cruz guided with donkeys, or independent with a lighter pack and a filter for the stream crossings?

#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck Paal 26 Grand Cafe is a large restaurant and pub in Paal. The atmosphere is great, with ample parking in front. The two-story cafe features a large drinks bar converted from a medicine cabinet, creating a chic and stylish atmosphere. The back of the cafe features a shady garden with outdoor seating, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The food here is authentic Belgian cuisine. We chose these two: ➡️ Mosselen (witte wijn / look / provencaal / roomlook) Mussels baked in white wine and garlic, served in a large pot, paired with freshly fried French fries. This dish is a perfect match. This dish is only available during mussel season. ➡️ Brochette Kip met Salad Grilled Chicken Skewers: Large chunks of lean chicken skewered and grilled. The portions are generous, with tender, juicy meat and a good flavor. For a side dish, we chose Kroketten, which are mashed potato cubes fried until the skin is crispy. It was a delight to eat. #BelgiumTravel #EuropeTravel

#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck Mia Mensa is a brasserie-style restaurant with a variety of menus for both food and drinks. You can order both as a course menu and a la carte. The shop is spacious and beautifully decorated, with colorful lights and a large drink bar. It is suitable for chilling out or having a special meal. The shop is located in the old mine called B-Mine, which has now been converted into an area with restaurants, supermarkets, shops, and even an indoor pool. For this meal, we ordered the following dishes to try: ➡️ Spareribs - Pork ribs marinated in a juicy sauce, the pork is soft and just right, with a salty and sweet taste. It is served with a salad. ➡️ Filet van hoevekip - Large, soft chicken pieces, cooked in a creamy sauce, topped with tiny pieces of grated potato chips, so much so that you can barely see the chicken inside. ➡️ Kabeljauwfilet - Kabeljauw fish steak with white wine sauce, served with grilled vegetables The fish was cooked just right, not dry, not fishy, and the taste was well-rounded. I liked it. 📌 Address: be-MINE 19, 3582 Beringen, Belgium #TravelBelgium #TravelEurope

#GetDiscountWithoutLuck Barnaba is a fairly famous restaurant, bar and banquet hall in Beringen. The interior is decorated with fancy and fantasy decorations, including pictures, chandeliers, bookshelves and stuffed animals, all perfectly combined in one place. It's quite interesting. The food here is outstanding in grilling, both steaks and pizzas, with a special charcoal oven for baking large pizzas in the kitchen behind the shop. But there are also other international dishes such as pasta, nachos, salads and Pad Thai as well. For this meal, we ordered the following: ➡️ Bread (served free before the meal) Here, they serve pizza dough as bread, with good quality pickled olives. The texture of the pizza bread is very good. It is also served warm, like it was freshly baked in a wood-fired oven. When you try it, you will know that the pizza here must be amazing. ➡️ Tonijn Steak This is a tuna steak that serves a very large piece of tuna, grilled to perfection, cooked thoroughly but the meat is juicy and not dry or tough. It has a fragrant grilled aroma and is seasoned with a little salt. Eat with grilled vegetables and black garlic, it's delicious. ➡️ Entrecote 300 gr. A perfectly grilled medium rare steak. Very good quality meat. Choose a black pepper cream sauce. Eat with grilled vegetables and French fries with mayonnaise, it goes very well together. ➡️ Tiramisu The pastry is soft, topped with a thick layer of mascarpone, but it doesn't taste like coffee or alcohol. So it feels more like eating a regular cake than Tiramisu. There are fresh fruits to decorate it to cut the richness. ➡️ Virgin Passion Ginger Thai This is a mocktail recipe of the shop that has the taste of passion fruit and ginger mixed together. The taste is sweet and sour, refreshing. #TravelEurope #TravelBelgium

#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck Golden City is a Chinese restaurant located in Paal, Beringen, Belgium. This restaurant has been opened for over 20 years by a Chinese family, who have passed down their skills from father to son. The food here is authentic Chinese food, but some ingredients or vegetables may change depending on what is available here. The atmosphere of the restaurant looks spacious and comfortable, decorated with Chinese-style furniture and decorations. For this meal, we ordered the following dishes to try: ➡️ Wantongsoep - Large shrimp dumplings with a lot of filling, delicious soup. ➡️ Pikante Soep - Thick Sichuan soup, sour and slightly spicy, quite good. ➡️ Eend in pikante zoetzure saus - Roast duck served on a hot plate, topped with a sweet and sour sauce that is only slightly spicy. This is a familiar roast duck style, which is well done, but the duck meat is marinated to make it soft and tender. I really like it. ➡️ Kipvlees met groenten - Fish fillet in batter and fried Topped with gravy with various vegetables, the taste is acceptable. When ordering a main dish here, you can choose rice or a free plate of mee hoon. The rice here is just plain rice, but the mee hoon is very delicious. The wok is fragrant with smoke, the noodles are soft and chewy, and there are eggs and lots of vegetables. I like it more than the main dish. 📌 Address: Schrijnwerkersstraat 1, 3583 Beringen, Belgium #TravelBelgium #TravelEurope

#WinterTravel Sint-brigidakerk or St. Brigid's Church is the church of Koersel. This town is a small and quiet town, but during Christmas, there is a Christmas market held in front of the church. It is held for only 3 days during the weekend before Christmas. It is a real Christmas market atmosphere for locals, which is a different experience from big cities or famous tourist cities. So, let's stop by and take a look. The Christmas market here has various shops set up in tents, a Santa's cottage, and the surrounding area is decorated with Christmas trees and bright lights. There are rides for children such as a carousel, target shooting, game machines, etc. There is a stage for concerts. As for products, there are various ornaments and food such as cheese, chocolate, pizza, whole roast pork skewers, French fries, churros, various drinks, and smoutebol, or round dough balls fried until crispy on the outside and soft on the inside sprinkled with icing sugar. They are delicious when eaten hot. Next to the Christmas market is the church building, which is a cafe where you can sit and relax from the cold. Order a drink and chill out. There is also a live music stage that focuses on Christmas songs and classic old international songs. It is another type of cute Christmas market. #GetDiscountWithoutLuck Sushi King is a fairly popular sushi restaurant in Beringen, Belgium. The restaurant is decorated in a Western style, not strictly Japanese. We ordered the following dishes: ➡️ Yakitori Grilled Chicken Skewers - The chicken is soft and grilled to a nice aroma. It's quite good. ➡️ Chicken Gyoza - Served with a thick, sweet and salty sauce, the same as yakitori sauce. There is no proper gyoza dipping sauce. ➡️ Spicy California Roll - Sushi roll with crab sticks, cucumber, omelet, wrapped in avocado, topped with spicy mayo. I didn't feel any spiciness when I tried it, but the overall taste was okay, just like a normal California Roll. ➡️ Kamikaze Scampi - Roll with fried shrimp, avocado, and spicy mayo, which is not spicy at all. ➡️ Hot Green Tea - I ordered green tea, but I got Lipton green tea with apricot flavor, which was sour, so it felt a bit strange. The service is in Western style. They serve free rice crackers while you wait for your food. They also serve tea and biscuits. Overall, it's pretty good. #TravelEurope Paal 26 is a restaurant in Lummen. It is quite famous among locals. You can tell from the fact that the restaurant is full from early in the day (we went around 6pm, which is quite early for dinner). Most importantly, it is conveniently located on the roadside with buses passing through. Even if you are not staying in the city, you can easily stop by if you take the bus that passes this stop. 🏠 Location / Atmosphere The restaurant is located on Paalsesteenweg Road, on the corner of Highway E313. In front of the restaurant is the Paal Veldstraat bus stop. It is a short walk away. If you rent a car, you can park in the restaurant's parking lot. It is spacious and convenient. As for the atmosphere, I must say that I really like it. The restaurant is a large building that can accommodate up to 250 people. There is outdoor seating at the back, and the surrounding area is decorated as a shady garden. Inside the building, there are 2 floors of seating. It is a high-ceilinged room decorated in a rustic style with exposed brick walls and wooden furniture, and is complemented by chic lamps. And a fancy bar converted from an old apothecary's cabinet. It gives off a very warm and cozy atmosphere. 🍽 Menu I tried ➡️ Complimentary Bread It's a bread with grains. The outer skin is quite hard and very thick, but the inside is soft and chewy. It's fun to chew. I like it. ➡️ Amuse Bouche It's pickled herring cut into tiny pieces, seasoned with a light, sour, sweet cream sauce and sliced shallots. The taste is refreshing and fun to eat. ➡️ Duo van kaas - en garnaalkroket This dish is a shrimp croquette and a cheese croquette, served together, one piece each. The shrimp croquette filling is a thick, liquid cream with a distinct shrimp scent. It's fried until the outer skin is crispy and looks delicious. Sprinkle a pile of tiny shrimps on top. Eat it with the cream sauce served with it. It goes well together. Delicious. As for the cheese croquette, I think it's a bit too rich. It's a good thing that there's a salad on the plate. When eaten together, it's a perfect match. ➡️ Huisbereid stoofvlees leffe – salade This is a homemade rabbit stew recipe from Belgium that requires simmering with beer. The rabbit meat is quite tender, simmered with the rich stew water. The taste is a bit too sweet, but overall, it's really good. This dish comes with French fries and salad. ➡️ Sangria – Served in a cup with ice mixed with beautifully cut fruit pieces. The Sangria is served in a separate small pitcher. When you want to drink it, pour it into a glass with fruit. It's refreshing.

#Songkran2024Travel Mezzo Hotel & Business is a business hotel that focuses on complete facilities, clean and tidy (which I have stayed at, I can say that it is really clean). Most importantly, the price is quite friendly. 🏠 Location/Atmosphere This hotel is located in Beringen, Belgium, which is a small, quiet city with not many tourist attractions. Therefore, the room price compared to the newness and facilities in the hotel is considered to be very good value for money. It is suitable as a stopover point. The hotel is only about 200 meters from the nearest bus stop. The surrounding roads are flat and in good condition, so it is not difficult to drag your luggage. I heard that the area where the hotel is located is near the army area, which should be an area for soldiers to relax and exercise. There is a horse racetrack for horseback riding training, etc. Therefore, the view outside the window still has a lot of trees and grass to see. Looking far away, you can see horses running in the field. The hotel is a modern building in the style of a general Business Hotel. The lobby has a high ceiling that looks grand. The restaurant is divided into 2 sides of the building. The surrounding walls are all glass, giving a clear view of the surrounding area. In addition to breakfast, they also serve lunch and dinner. What's great is that there are unlimited drinking water, tea, and coffee available for free on the sofa in front of the lobby 24 hours a day. The wifi is also strong. If you bring your laptop, you can sit and drink coffee to work or plan your next trip. 🥐 Breakfast I like that there are a lot of fresh fruits, well-selected. The cheese and cold cuts are also good quality. There are a variety of breads and good quality breads.

#dreamvoyage Het Landerhuys is a restaurant located on the outskirts of Beringen, next to the city of Leopoldsburg in Belgium. The restaurant is a large and beautiful house. In front, there are outdoor seats next to the lawn and a beautiful garden for you to relax, eat, and sunbathe during the summer. Inside the restaurant, there are several zones. The walls around the restaurant are made of glass, giving it an airy feel. You can enjoy the view outside. It is a restaurant with a nice atmosphere that is worth a visit in this area. · ***-Menu I tried-**** The concept of the food here is international (European) food in a homemade style. It focuses on menus that you can make at home without being fancy. However, it uses good quality ingredients. Most importantly, the portions are large and filling. We ordered this menu. ➡️ Tapas van de chef – ... or a mix of tapas. Although tapas are usually snacks, I can tell you that the portions of this menu can be eaten by 3-4 people. You can order just one menu and go back home full without ordering anything else. If you plan to have a light snack before the main course, you should find a group of 10 people to help you eat it. The set includes... · Patatas Bravas – Small fried potatoes topped with Brava Sauce, a northern Spanish style. The main ingredients are stewed tomatoes mixed with Tabasco sauce and various seasonings to give it a little bit of spiciness. It's quite delicious. · Patatas Aioli – Fried potatoes with spices. This time, it's made in the southern Spanish style by changing the dipping sauce to Aioli Sauce, which is served in a separate bowl. It smells of garlic and has a thick, creamy taste. It's fun to eat, but I like the first type better. · Pork Ribs – Fried pork bones, not seasoned much, served with salsa española sauce in a separate bowl for dipping. The pork is quite hard and cold. This is a dish that I'm not very fond of. · Tortilla – Thick, soft Spanish omelette with layers of potatoes. In terms of texture and taste, it's done exactly as it should be. But we were not satisfied that it was served cold (again), which is not wrong because tortilla can be eaten both hot and cold, but it just didn't suit us who like it hot. · Gambas al Ajilo – The shrimps were quite big, stir-fried with garlic and seasoned to perfection. We liked this dish. · Champiñones al ajillo – Mushrooms stir-fried with olive oil, garlic and spices. Even though it looks simple, I really like this dish. The seasoning was just right. The mushrooms were firm, fresh, crispy and juicy. It was incredibly delicious. · Onion Rings – Many large pieces of fried onions, with a lemon wedge to prevent the greasy taste. They were fried until crispy and not oily. · Spanish White Anchovy in Vinegar – Anchovies marinated in vinegar, eaten with pickled olives. It was quite enjoyable, but not to the point of being addictive. · Spanish Ham – A set of tapas, how could we miss out on Spanish ham? The tray was served with many types of ham and chorizo to try. The quality was good, and the quantity was a lot. It goes well with the pickled olives and welcome bread. ➡️ Sinaasappelsap en citroensap – For drinks, I chose this one because I asked and found out that it was a homemade recipe of orange juice mixed with lemon. Hearing that it was homemade, I wanted to try it. I thought it was some kind of special recipe. It turned out that... it was just orange juice mixed with lemon. It was really sour, but refreshing.
