The Vigie Lighthouse—a place from which Saint Lucia looks completely different 🥰 If you're in Castries, the capital of Saint Lucia, be sure to check out the Vigie Lighthouse. It's located on the Vigie Peninsula, on the site of a former British military base, and is considered one of the historical symbols of this part of Saint Lucia. We headed there right after visiting the French consulate—the road from there leads directly to the lighthouse. The lighthouse dates back to 1910. It was built by the British colonial authorities because Vigie Point is located at the entrance to Castries Bay, a stretch of coastline important for ship navigation. The lighthouse itself is quite simple: a white metal tower with a lantern on top. But its location is what makes it interesting, not so much for its architecture. Vigie Point is a strategic point with an excellent view of the Caribbean Sea and Castries Bay. In the past, this spot controlled the approaches to the port, but today people come here primarily for the views. It's especially beautiful at sunset: from above, you can observe the sea, the ships in the bay, and the gradually fading lights of Castries. But we were there in the morning and experienced two views: a super foggy, rainy day, and then, a little later, a sunny, blue-sky day. We deliberately waited for the weather to clear up 😊 By the way, Vigie Lighthouse isn't just a lighthouse. The peninsula itself is known for its history: it housed military fortifications associated with the British presence on the island. Vigie Beach and George F. L. Charles Airport, a small airport in Castries, are located nearby. And another interesting detail: Vigie Lighthouse is often considered one of the oldest operating lighthouses in St. Lucia. It's essentially a large villa divided into several apartments. We were given a blue studio on the ground floor. We were pleasantly surprised to find a microwave in the kitchen and a tankless heater in the shower. But we were even more pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful hostess, Donna, who drove us to and from the supermarket in her car, let us use the washer and dryer, and even lent us her laptop to print out a stack of documents for the consulate. What's more, she even drove us to the French consulate the next morning! We needed to apply for a visa. In short, we were very pleased with the service. There's even a small pool in the courtyard, by the way. It was a pretty exhausting walk all the way up hill to the top to see the light house of Castries, St. Lucia. Sweaty and hot, but luckily I had enough water with me! I always recommend water in this heat. But this exhaustion paid off and I got rewarded with a magnificent view over the entire bay and lastly I saw the majestic light house in this historical area of Vigie Bay. #vigie bay #Castries

Vacation! 10 Day's Bel Jou Hotel⭐⭐⭐+ All Inclusive in Castries, the capital of Saint Lucia. Very nice area. Shopping, Beach, Cocktails🥰. I can only recommend that. Monday I go on a Catamaran for snorkeling and beach hopping. We will see the Piton!
