Step back into the golden age of 1940s Manila
Located on Roxas Boulevard along Manila Bay, there is a building that made me want to hit the pause button the moment I walked in—Admiral Hotel Manila – MGallery, a boutique hotel that truly embodies the art of "folding time" 🏛️
✨ A quick recommendation
The elegant soul of Manila's golden age meets the modern flair of French Art Deco. Staying here feels like walking into a retro film co-produced by the Philippines and Spain.
🎬 The moment I walked into the lobby, I was stunned
The second I pushed through the doors, the soaring lobby decor and warm golden lighting set the perfect mood. The reception waiting area is so exquisite it feels less like a hotel and more like an art gallery. The 2024 and 2025 Michelin Guide plaques hang on the wall—the hotel's restaurants and accommodations have both been officially recognized.
The overall design features a Filipino-Spanish fusion Art Deco style, paying homage to Manila's golden age in the 1940s. It weaves together the classic and the modern, feeling substantial yet not overwhelming, with a subtle, "old money" luxury in every detail.
🛏️ Six themed floors, each telling a story
This is perhaps the most delightful design feature of the Admiral—the hotel has six culturally themed floors, each focusing on different elements of Filipino culture: traditional festivals, national heroes, folk dances, local artifacts, Philippine travel destinations, and more.
The hallway carpets are clean and tidy, and the walls display information about admiral uniforms; every detail tells a story. I stayed in an Executive Bay View Room, starting at 31 sqm, where opening the window reveals an unbeatable view of Manila Bay. The room is equipped with a Bose sound system, a Nespresso coffee machine, and TWG tea sets.
Quick tip: The Appelles organic toiletries in the room smell so good I wanted to take the whole bottle home.
🍽️ Dining is the true highlight
☕ El Atrio Lounge (first-floor lobby)
An afternoon tea space under a high-ceiling atrium, featuring desserts curated by world-renowned local chocolate master Kevin Ong, paired with an afternoon tea set that blends Filipino and Spanish flavors. The lobby's fragrance is also lovely; as a blogger, I can confirm it's worth visiting just for this.
🌊 Admiral Club Manila Bay (top floor)
An all-day international buffet restaurant with panoramic views of Manila Bay. The Josper grill and Asian cooking station are highlights. You must come for breakfast—sitting by the window watching the morning light of Manila Bay spill over the water while enjoying a breakfast with Filipino flair is pure happiness. There is also a kids' corner on weekends, making it very friendly for families.
🍹 Ruby Wong's Godown (speakeasy)
A godown-style bar hidden behind a noodle shop alley, offering an immersive entertainment experience paired with creative Chinese snacks and Asian-inspired cocktails. The atmosphere is legendary. The signature cocktail, Green Opium Heaven, is served in a skull mug, making for a truly ritualistic experience 🥂
🥥 Coconut Grove (rooftop pool bar)
Seamless transition from sunset to night! With a 180° view of Manila Bay and a resident DJ spinning tracks, come here at sunset to order a cocktail and watch the sky shift from orange-red to indigo—this is the most beautiful sunset I have seen in Manila.
🏊 Rooftop infinity pool, the best spot to watch the Manila Bay sunset
The rooftop infinity pool faces Manila Bay directly. By day, it is a fantastic photo spot, and by evening, it transforms into a VIP seat for sunset viewing. Many guests say the poolside is almost always full of people taking photos, which shows just how photogenic it is.
There is also an Admiral Spa nearby, where traditional Filipino healing wisdom meets French elegance. After a day of exploring, a massage here will help you feel completely recharged.

💡 Blogger's thoughts
Admiral Hotel Manila – MGallery is the debut of the MGallery brand in the Philippines. What touches me most about this brand is that "every hotel has a unique story," and the Admiral's story is about the glory of Manila's golden age, the fusion of Filipino and Spanish cultures, and how a city retells its own legend in a modern context.
If you come to Manila and want a stay with a story, a sense of design, and bay view sunsets—the Admiral is worth it.
